  1. Queen Mathilde looks lovely but dress is suitable for wedding, mother of the bride/groom. Duchess Maria, its nice to see her in a dress for a change but the V neckline a little much.

I enjoy seeing photos of the pomp of royal visits… even if they’re cousins and friends the hats and jewels come out! Or at least … Mathilde brings her hat out - and I wish MT had too for the whole effect! Looking forward to the tiaras! (Grace)

  3. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa looks great! Love the coat. Being a short person myself I can relate to her fashion dilemma's. This look really works for her, I think. QM looks beautiful in her pink coat as well, but I don't care for the style.

GDMT looks fantastic, whereas I find QM looking very disappointing: the (moire) fabric isn't easy on one's eyes, the tailoring seems a bit tight and could have done with an accent colour instead of pink all over. Personally not a big fan of the pearl choker either.

The weather was very, very bad this morning in Brussels. Lots of rain, heavy wind. Usually I like what Queen Mathilde is wearing on a state visit but not this time. The coat dress or coat doesn't do her any favors. She should avoid those wide skirts because they only make her wider than she is. The bodice is simple but not attractive either. The fabric looks lovely. The little handbag and hat in the same fabric as her dress are lovely too. If I had bought this coat dress, I would be very disappointed in Dior. She had a beautiful pink coat by Dior for a state visit to France in 2014. She also had a better red coat dress by Dior when French president Macron and Brigitte came to Brussels. It was the same outfit Queen Mathilde wore last year when on state visit in Germany. I think Queen Mathilde should stick to straight coats like those designed for her by Esmeralda Ammoun. QM was so beautiful in the last creation Esmeralda made for her.
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa's coat with the navy or black dress underneath was not bad at all. She had no trouble with her hair in the wind since it is cut short.
Once they were inside they could enjoy the cake and the coffee for the birthday of the 2 men. There is a beautiful picture of King Philippe and Grand Duke Henri when they blow out the candle light on their cake together.

Thx and I'm sorry but my name even a nick name you will never know. I've had to many bad accusations since the time I'm on this blog. There were other people who signed with my name their very rude comments and then pretend it was me who wrote it. I've been away for a while too. When I saw there were a lot of anonymous all the time,
I have decided to participate again.

Oh dear. I feel that Mathilde has had a bit of a misstep with this outfit. The skirt of the dress coat is too flared and too shapeless, and the top part does not seem well fitted to me. The belt and high waist look messy (I know she is high waisted) and I'm not fond of the colour either. It's a little too pale.

I like MT's outfit: The dress and neckline underneath looks stylish, and the printed coat is a nice contrast. However, because of her petite size, the placement of the print on the hips makes her look shorter and broader. I think if the dress and coat were slightly shorter buy a few inches, it might have helped a bit.

Looking forward to some razzle dazzle this evening.

I too agree with you on your assessment of both outfits. I was even shocked that the paleness of the queen's dress even caused her pearl necklace to seem as though they were part of the dress.

Unruhige Kleidung, als wenn man ihnen nie gezeigt hat, das man ab und an sich zurecht zuppeln kann, der Wind und zu viel von allem nicht meine Freude. Zwei scheinbar pflegeleichte Herren ; ) sehr schick.

Both ladies dressers need to be shot. The blue could have looked stunning the style great but stripes going side ways on a short lady never and hippy never never. The pink Grandma has come to town, sorry but this outfit no no.
This Queen has some wonderful clothes.

I quite like the flared skirt aspect of the coat. I’m not too sure about the belt and the neckline. The pattern is pretty, with the matching bag.
    GD MT looks lovely.
Looking forward to the state dinner later tonight. Lowri.

I usually don´t like what GDMT wears but this is really good at least front view. Queen Mathilde should loose those extra pleats on the skirt. A slimmer design would be better.

I agree, GDMT’s outfit choices often baffle me, but this is lovely. (V.M.)

  12. Not fond of any of both coats... I wonder whether GrD Maria Teresa can close it, in case she wanted.

First--I feel terrible for Queen Mathilde and Grand Duchess Maria Theresa having to cope with the dreadful weather. Now to fashion: GDMT looks wonderful but wish her dress and coat were a bit shorter and would love to trim the wings off the cuffs of her coat sleeves. Queen Mathilde's outfit was a good idea gone bad. The skirt is too wide--a simple A-line would have been so much better and flattering. I really don't like her "hat"--it looks like its just stuck on the side of her head. The belt has either come lose in the wind or the designer made a terrible mistake of not providing a way to anchor it in place. Finally, she's gone totally matchy-matchy with her accessories--its all too much of one color. I do like that she is wearing the beautiful pearl choker--love seeing it paired with something more simple than this outfit. I saw photos of GD Henri and King Philippe shaing a birthday cake since today is their mutual birthday--so Happy Birthday to the Grand Duke and the King. Can't wait for the banquet as these 2 ladies have some fabulous jewels to wow us with plus something special to wear.

No Janet. King Philippe's birthday is on the 15th of April, his daughter Princess Eléonore's birthday is on the 16th of April, GD Henri of Luxembourg is also on the 16th of April.

  14. Elégantes toutes les deux, chacune dans son propre style ; superbe Maria Teresa dans son manteau porté sur sa robe en V même si j'aurais bien aimé les voir légèrement plus courts de quelques centimètres afin de mieux convenir à sa petite taille !

Both RL look elegant and classy. So nice to see MT wearing something nice without a huge bow. Do like the color and pattern of this coat. The pastel looks great on Mathilde. Happy Birthday to King Philippe and GD Henri. Many more returns. Sadly, they have rain and wind on this visit. css
