On Thursday afternoon, April 11, 2024, Dutch Queen Maxima visited the factory Container Service Groenenboom in Oosterhout on the occasion of Girls' Day. On Girls' Day, girls visit technical and ICT companies to become acquainted with science, technology and ICT and to experience what it is like to work in technology.

40 secondary school pupils from the 'Curio Effent' school in Oosterhout are following a course through the Groenenboom factory where they receive training about spraying and repairing containers. At each location, the girls in person work on the process that takes place there.

Lovely dress and beautiful jewelry. On pic #3, this hat looks like a woven basket. But I must say nice fit for this event. css

    1. This visit was combined with another one (award ceremony) on the same day. So globally I think it is ok.

not ok. she has had two events in a day before and was able to change outfits to look appropriate for either

She attended another more festive event and did not change clothes...

@MaryT - I thought she looked somewhat overdressed for the earlier event as well compared to the others in the group picture for that event. While I can imagine it is challenging to dress for two events in one day, I think a more versatile outfit could have been selected.

She looks like she is going to a wedding. But this was about spraying cargo containers in a factory. I think it is a lovely outfit, but it is the wrong one for the occasion. Of course, you can wear what you like, but if you do so and live in privileged luxury, it can appear uppity and turn against you. - Ellie

If there is one royal lady who is not out of touch with reality, it must be Maxima. You forget that she has encountered the most terrible situations in parts of the world where people are very poor. (her work for the United Nations). In the Netherlands there is an organization for every man or woman or child who needs help. She visits regularly these organizations who receive support from the "Oranje fonds", so I think she is well aware of the needs in The Netherlands too. If she is arriving somewhere with an old dress or skirt, her hair not done or hidden under an old hat, she receives comments from people like you too. Maybe Queen Marie-Antoinette was not very smart in her days which cannot be said from Queen Maxima.

And where would you expect her to change clothes ? In the car. I don't know how many km it is from Middelburg (where she was in the morning) to Oosterhout in the afternoon.

perhaps at the ladies' room at the earlier event or plenty of hotels along the way, it does not take genius to figure it out!

      You must be joking.

What an utterly ridiculous argument. Maxima is supposed to get a hotel to change (because it only takes a minute to change) so the "workers" at her second appointment of the day don't notice the contrast between their outfits and hers??? Firstly, they aren't workers. They are school girls visiting for Girls' Day. Looking at picture no. 5, you will notice a young lady staring up at Maxima with a huge smile on her face. It would be my guess that meeting their queen, looking every inch a queen that day, was the highlight of their day and it overshadowed anything educational they were supposed to take away from the experience at Container Service Groenenboom.

      @Anon. 12/4 21:45,
A queen does not take her other clothes under her arm and say : "Excuse me I am going to the ladies room to change my clothes", a queen doesn't stop at a hotel to go to the ladies' to change her clothes either. Suppose she would do that, information about the hotel has to be controlled, the premises must be contacted in advance to book facilities for Queen Maxima to be able to change clothes there, maybe body guards has to accompany her as far as possible, etc....You realize this is not for free. If she should do that, the first to comment on her behavior would come from someone like you, who has no touch with reality at all.

I love this outfit on Maxima. It is incredibly elegant, and the creamy color scheme is a refreshingly different look for this lady who usually tends to favor bright colors. — Jane

But she dressed for the event: look, she’s visiting with young girls. Regardless of the setting, what could be more lovely for them than a queen, so engaging, dressed so beautifully? As a young girl the same age as these I would have been delighted to meet such a queen. Besides this, if there’s a queen in the room, she sets the dress choice, not the other way around. Of course she also had another event and this outfit matched that too, and I think she looks absolutely well, queenly. (Grace)

  8. Je ne suis pas fan de la jupe de sa tenue car trop évasée ; il me semble qu'un modèle plus près du corps comme une jupe droite aurait mieux convenu !

  9. @anonymous13.53 it is around 115km, I'm sure a suitable location could have been found in that distance. I also agree with Ellie.

  10. She looks so pretty in cream colored tones and the pearls are the perfect touch. She is just gorgeous and I'm sure the workers appreciated her visit. She looks like a QUEEN.

Society has made progress and females who choose careers in science and technology can still have a feminine side, or feminine friends. It would have been more practical to change shoes for this event, but her outfit is such an eclectic mix there is a lot going on, that's all. SMH. Christine

Indeed, very much overdressed (this happens a lot to Maxima). I like the yellow scarf of the lady in the first picture.

My reply to the 'overdressed comments' - Queen Elizabeth never 'dressed down' for any events, she was a queen and dressed as a queen, yes I agree that sometimes Queen Maxima outfits are over the top but it is part of her personality.

  14. @MJT please do not compare the late Queen Elizabeth with Maxima as far as fashion is concerned . QE said she needed to be seen to be believed but that was not referring to her attire. She may not have 'dressed down' but she did not (except for Garter processions) dress in such a way to put the focus on her rather than the 'event'. She also did change outfits during the course of the day if the tone of the events were different - as they were in this case.

  17. my first thought was: beautiful outfit with such a Dior New Look vibe, but maybe a bit too much for the occasion. Then I thought: Maxima is certainly aware, that meeting the Queen must be a once in a lifetime moment for these girls and she doesn't want to disappoint them by wearing a dull outfit. So a definite yes from me
