On April 12, 2024, Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit hosted a weaving symposium at the Queen Sonja Art Stable in Oslo. Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon were also present. The Crown Princess has a great interest in weaving as a craft and art form, and has therefore invited people with various connections to this craft to the event.

The guests from all over the country were people who have different connections to weaving, including artists and craftspeople, members of voluntary organizations, and those who are associated with educational institutions, various professional environments and public institutions. There were also keen hobby weavers and people who are passionate about this craft and art form.

Through the event, Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit aimed to contribute to the exchange of knowledge and experience, to focus on weaving, and to contribute to more people becoming aware of the importance of weaving.

    She’s fantastic at many things and she’s so good at weaving. She’s also fantastically good at ceramics work! And a keen book reader and it’s great that she’s spreading these interests among everybody! Ac

    Great look for Q Sonja, but she is always spot on. So is MM. I am glad she looks so well and she can do her job. Really nice to see them. css

  7. I think they all looked lovely. I did say "Oh, dear!" when I saw the upside-down horseshoe pendant. Superstition says if you hang it that way, "the luck runs out". I don't actually believe in the superstition, but I like tradition. Oh, well. It looks nice anyway.
