As in previous years, also this year, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium takes a pilgrimage walk on the Way of St James during the Holy Week. The King and Queen completed a new part of the pilgrimage walk that traditionally ends in Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
The route chosen by the King and Queen this year crossed the villages of Sarria, Portomarin, Palas de Rei and Melida. The King and Queen started the Camino in Navarre in 2017, and every year they complete another part. This week, the King and Queen were in Galicia.
Where is the king ?
ReplyDeleteI saw pictures of him in my Newspaper on the road to Compostella, there were people with him and I didn't saw the queen. Maybe she was in another group. Maybe he is in another group now too. He was dressed in a blue wind jacket and had sunglasses on.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It'a a big strange because he is the reigning king. It's just the reason of my question. Have a good Sunday.
DeleteThere are pictures on which they are photographed together just before the entrance of a church they encountered on their walking route. If you are walking like that, it is normal that the person who is walking next to you does it a bit faster and is reaching the group who is walking just before you faster than you do. They were surrounded by body guards, family members and friends. I read that next year they will accomplish the last walk of this pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostella, which they started in 2017.
DeleteWhat is the relation with a reining King and a promise to Saint James?? This things are individual...It is faith...
DeleteLast Thursday Queen Mathilde and Queen Philippe flew back to Nantes (Fr). From there they travelled by train to reach their villa at Ile d'Yeu (Fr). They will probably arrive in Laeken this weekend. Next Monday school starts again in Belgium after the Easter holidays.
ReplyDeleteCorrection. I made a mistake the schools in Belgium didn't start again today, but on next monday 15 April.

ReplyDeleteHeureusement que ce pélerinage est en plusieurs parties en partant de
ReplyDeletedifférents points de France !
Mathilde by herself? did not see the King. css
ReplyDeleteIt is a promise, not a thing to do with other persons....It is individual..
DeleteRead what has been written already before you gave your comments. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde started this pilgrimage together in 2017.
DeleteAnon 26;58..It is a thing that cannot be done "together"...I am from Galicia and know what the "Camino de Santiago is"....foreing people explaining to us our faith...
DeleteThe pictures on this blog are not complete. Queen Philippe and Queen Mathilde were there together in the company of Spanish family members, body guards and friends.
DeleteAs a king and a queen they have to do it in the company of at least their body guards. They cannot take the risk to go there by themselves even if they are always accompanied by family members and friends. Some of their children have been participating too during the earlier years, but now I don't know if one of the princes or princesses are present.
DeletePeople on this blog don't read what others have been writing before them.
ReplyDeleteRead my contribution of 6 and 7 april.
I know a lot of people who are doing this trip not as a pilgrimage but as a touristic activity. It is like a walk in the mountains, but here the roads are a bit flatter which does not mean it is very easy. One must have a good health condition.
