    2. Also regarding the headband ?

I think the headband is a good idea, especially with all the wind and rain we had the last days. Now her hear cannot fly upwards like on the first day. I wonder what the royal ladies will be wearing today in Liège.

Mathilde's dress is quite nice, although I would have chosen accessories of a different color to break up the monochrome. But that red pancake on her hair is completely unnecessary. Maybe I'm repeating myself, but she could have chosen lower pumps. This makes the height difference between the ladies look pretty big and I know from my shorter friends that they are uncomfortable taking pictures with someone whose shoulder they reach barely below.

It is a pity you donot see class, but unnecessary to be so vulgar in your words.

As a person of petite stature, I can assure you that we are quite accustomed to being shorter than our peers. I find it hard to believe that your vertically challenged friends would expect anyone to adjust their dress to placate them. That is just as absurd as saying Maria Teresa should wear high heels in order to make the pictures look better, because esthetics are more important than wearing the low heels she wears for her post surgical health.

Mathilde is so elegant. Everything about her says class. MT did well for her physique this time as well. Certainly both give a regal impression just by looking at them.

Why all of a sudden Queen Mathilde may not wear high heels any more ? The British royal ladies also wear high heels and Duchess Catherine is not exactly petite herself. Queen Maxima, even a bit taller than queen Mathilde, is wearing high heels too. She has had also comments recently that her heels were too high. I wonder where does this come from. If Queen Mathilde had worn lower heels last year and the year before, she could have had comments that her heels were not high enough and that it was not elegant enough.
In Belgium and in The Netherlands it is the custom among royals that the ladies are wearing a hat and gloves on a state visit, and to go to church. In the U.K. too I think and if they don't do it anymore Queen Elizabeth did it.
The monochrome look is still in among royal ladies too.
If your friends are bothered because they are shorter than a tall person with whom they are on the same picture, well I could say they are pretty difficult and suggest them to step aside so they do not have to be on the same picture. Everywhere there are short and tall people men and women. If you cannot accept how nature made you, then you are a case for the psychologist. Maybe your friends could try to wear high heels too and feel less shorter.

It is really "polite" of you to label me as a case for a psychologist. Indeed, a great display of your "courtesy and decency"! In which country is it normal to label people with a different opinion as a case for a psychologist?
I am very good at accepting people as nature (God) created them. You don't have to insult my friends either. I don't really care if Queen Mathilde wears high heels or not. I told my opinion, how I would act in her place.By the way - princess Diana was known to sometimes wear heels no higher than 4cm, for example when she went to visit Japan and knew she was going to be photographed with the Japanese Imperial couple. She was simply kind and didn't want to overshadow anyone.

      @Stephanie
If you don't care if Queen Mathilde wears high heels or not why do you give your opinion ? ..... how you would act in her place ? But you are not her and QM does not have to accept lessons from you. I liked Princess Diana very much but the way ladies dressed in those days was different than now. Because Queen Mathilde wore high heels she is not kind enough ? You must be joking. GD Maria Teresa is family she doesn't mind she is used to, her husband GD Henri is tall too. If there is one queen who is known for her friendship, warmth, sympathy, etc... it is Queen Mathilde. Assume she has to start wearing flat shoes from tomorrow on, for any reason what so ever, she will still be taller than many other people. So save your breath for more important issues.

Every woman, including royal ladies, has complete freedom in what to wear for an official engagement. And I, in turn, have complete freedom to express my opinion, which I stand behind. And I'm sorry that you insult me and send me to a psychologist because of this. And in your comment you are not even willing to apologize for your hurting words that touched me unpleasantly.
I can't always express myself precisely, because English is my third foreign language that I learned. But still I don't know all the nuances of words like a native speaker, although I try to constantly improve my English.
As for Queen Mathilde, I don't judge her character or personality traits, I don't know her and I'm not particularly interested in her. My interests are fashion and style.

@As a matter of fact English is my 3rd language too. If you are not particularly interested in Queen Mathilde why are you picking on her ? It is not the first time.
You say your interests are fashion and style, why do you write about the fact that she should wear low heels and should consider the women that are shorter. To me this has nothing to do with fashion anymore. Why don't you pick out Queen Maxima, she wore also high heels on the state visit from King Felipe and Queen Letizia. Her daughter CP Amalia wore also high heels. If you look at one of the last pictures, Queen Letizia is the shortest of the group and she cannot wear high heels for the moment because she has terrible foot pain.
And I am not going to apologize because I was talking in general. It is not my fault that you take everything that has been said as an insult.
By the way, I feel free to express my opinion too, you know.

Okay, I understand that it is normal for you to send people who have a different opinion than you to a psychologist. That says something about you.
(Calling a person mentally unfit and unstable = a person in need of a psychologist is one of the biggest insults I know.)
You don't have to believe me, but I only commented on Mathilde and the height of her pumps by accident. If there was another woman in her place, I would have mentioned her.

I like the colour red Mathilde is wearing. I think she looks lovely. Maybe the hat was just too much for the occasion. Maria Theresa looks good in this colour of green, but the pantsuit is not good. The jacket is too long and the pants fits baggy. And the feathers.... Big no for me.

She is usually so elegant but these fashionable gathered dresses around the waist do not flatter anybody.

  9. Tout est parfait chez Maria Teresa qui a su combiner toutes les parties de sa tenue dans une couleur verte jusque dans son sac à mains ; ce serait bien qu'elle continue de se vêtir dans ce même style !

I don't like the way this dress fits Mathilde. It draws needless attention to unnecessary areas. She has so many better fitting and more attractive dresses.

This red dress is the one she wore on the national day 21st July 2023 with a big red hat. She cannot wear all the time new dresses. The hat is new and made of natural fibres just like the big red hat Queen Maxima wore upon arrival of the Spanish king and queen. Both hats are designed by Fabienne Delvigne, a Brussels hat maker.

  14. I really like Queen Mathilde's dress--it's a rare thing for me not to like a red dress--but this is well cut and the ruching is flattering. her fascinator headband is a perfect match but I agree with those who would have opted for contrasting shoes and bag. Trying to find the positives in GD Maria Theresa's outfit. I quite like the colour but other than that it looks like a robe and pyjamas trousers. Sadly does nothing for her.

MT, always seems to miss the fashion mark. V-necks do elongate a short person's appearance, however, open neck garments, coupled with wide belted jackets, totally ruined the look, along with the fru-fru sleeves, which was just odd. The entire look was sloppy in comparison to Queen Mathilde's outfit.

Q Mathilde looks fantastic in red. MT's outfit looks fine, nice color. Maybe she believed she is meeting at a Restaurant for a Kaffeeklatsch with the girl. When she gets it right, she is right. Sometimes she has a miss this is one of these times. css
