She loves big square tops, but they are definitely not the best choice for her.

  2. In my humble opinion both the jacket and baggy pants make MT appear larger and wider than she probably is.

I agree, she should wear more fitted clothes.

It looks a bit better without the jacket. Maybe another type of pants, this one makes her look larger than she is. I like her top.

Lucky audience to hear her speak! I recently watched some of her interviews and she is such a well educated and interesting and compassionate speaker / person. I love that she has her own style and is always extremely well put together. (Grace)

Yes. I've been watching her interviews and speeches for some years now and I agree that she is quite eloquent, always well informed, and very compassionate when necessary. Also has a good tone to her voice, which is important for serious matters. Two others I would describe by these same categories from what I have seen and heard in their speeches and impromptu interviews as well as round table discussions are Mette Marit and Maxima, both very impressive.

Anon 9:13, I will listen to Mette Marit, haven’t yet done - but absolutely yes to Maxima; she has a very sharp intellect, she’s a master of multiple languages, and boy does she know what she’s talking about when she’s presenting on / debating micro finance (Grace)

  5. Désolée mais je trouve que ce style de veste n'est pas fait pour la morphologie de Maria Teresa ; je pense qu'un petit gilet cintré aurait amplement convenu pour aller avec son pantalon ample !

She simply has no idea how to dress for her bodytype. It is not easy, I get that, as she is very short and also might have one or two kilos too much on her body, but she so often manages to emphasise just that body features instead of concealing them or distracting from them. Perhaps, then, she likes to show herself this way? Could well be. Still, even if, and this is entirely her choice, of course, I am not a fan of her ways of dressing in recent years.

  7. If that is the way she wants to be dressed, she should go for it. It must be terribly frustrating to reject pieces of clothing, which are not fundamentally bad, on the grounds that others might (no certainty !) be better. She has already done a lot in favor of enhancing her appearance (some will say too much).

Perhaps I'm just becoming accustomed to MT's style preferences but I'm OK with her outfit, including the wide lapel jacket. We've seen her wear these types of items before, and as long as she likes them - which she obviously does, and wears them with confidence - which again she obviously does, that's good for her to make a style work. I also like the outfit without the jacket; the blouse and trouser combo looks good on her.

As a woman of small stature myself, I love that she has her own style and isn't afraid of "looking larger". What's wrong in being "large", anyway? And she isn't that large at all -- and she has a great charisma. We have enough of anorexic-looking celebrities and royals as it is. Let her be herself!

I think the Grand Duchess looks modern, stylish, and very beautiful. Her outfit is perfect for a daytime meeting. She looks very elegant but approachable, not stuffy at all.

Hmmm...I have read the comments and none reflect my issues with what GD MT is wearing. I don't like the casual jacket paired with what looks like evening attire. I am also not a fan of the shiny gold trousers at what appears to be a daytime event. I don't really mind how MT dreses--I think she dresses to please herself and doesn't really look to fashion so much as chooses what she likes.

I'm not a fan of the jacket, but everything else is a yes from me. It is always a pleasure to see the Grand Duchess.

I wish I could say something positive about MT’s sartorial choices in general, but she looks ghastly in this boxy outfit. I remember that she used to be impeccably dressed, but now her clothing appears to reflect an inner process, possibly a rebellion of sorts. Perfectly legitimate approach, if only the outfits suited her.
