I think Silvia speaks Spanish and Portuguese, her mother was from Brasil and grandmother from Cuba

Queen Silvia do speak spanish (and portuguese, swedish, english, french and sign language), but with Beatriz Gutierrez (Müller) it’s probably german!

The mother of Beatriz was born in Chile, so her greatgrandfather is far away to speak Germán.

Wow, I had no idea she had Cuban ancestry! She looks amazing in this suit. The blue colors and fabric are beautiful. MR

When she was younger she was obvious Latina, she had an exotic look; dark hair, sun kissed skin. But now she has lived in the cold climate for a long time.

When she was young she also lived in Germany. Not exactly hot during Autumn and Winter. I think I've heard she is born in Heidelberg (Germany).

  2. Queen's Silvia's hat reminds me of Jackie Kennedy's style in the 1960s, timeless classic.
Her skirt is exactly at knee length, half inch higher it would have raised eyebrows but she does have lovely legs at her age.

  4. The Queen looks elegant as always.
Nice to see her in a spring like outfit after a long winter.
I like the color of the first lady's dress and whatever it is around her neck!

@ Cate. Is it so difficult to see she is wearing a little silk scarf in the V neck of her dress ?

Queen Silvia looks very elegant but I wish her stockings had bit a little bit darker. First Lady looks very good in the purple dress and intricately tied scarf. For some reason she has changed her shoes and the first pair look too big.

Agree about the stockings. The shoes look like they’re well used and that’s ok of course…..but to me it’s not really Silvia chic. The skirt looks “tired” when she’s standing but gets a little life when she walks. It ain’t easy being perfect in the heat I guess. Ac

The purple colour on Beatriz is lovely. Now Silvia. Don't like to be negative, but I'm afraid I have to. The hat. For some reason I don't like the look. To high? To big? Don't know but I'm not a fan. The skirt is to shiny, to wide and don't like the knee length. The blazer colour and cut is nice, but the pattern. To old lady for me and I'm not a young spring chicken myself. Pattern like this only makes us look older.

I agree with your opinion. Plus I don't like the dress of the first lady - in particular, its cut and falling material does not flatter the figure.

  7. La reine Silvia sait être toujours élégante mais au niveau des collants, une couleur gris clair aurait mieux rehaussé son look !

I like Silvia’s outfit except the pillbox hat. I think maybe it is too high, as Anonymous 14:33 observed.

    1. I am the opposite. I really like the hat and the jacket but the pale skirt and tights don't look great to me. The skirt also doesn't seem to be sitting well in some of the photos. looking uneven at the front. The First Lady's purple dress is a gorgeous colour.

I like the First Lady of Mexico's dress--very pretty deep purple. Sra Guttierrez looks great in this shade. I also like her scarf as it adds in some other bright colors. The buttons on the sleeves are a nice touch by the designer. Queen Silvia looks lovely in her suit--the pale blue and creams of the jacket and her blue hat are beautiful together and on her. Not sure if I would have chosen the skirt to be in the pale shade--maybe its the lighting on the fabric because it looks too shiny. Silvia is obviously wearing a type of support hosiery so in some lighting they look too pale and/or shiny. I don't have any problem with that and I can certainly understand why she would choose to wear them. I also love pillbox hats and love that Silvia is wearing one. This whole ensemble is not going to be one of favorites in Silvia's wardrobe but I still think she looks great.

Queen, nice outfit for the occasion, then you get to the white stockings. No one should be wearing those anymore.
