The Duchess of Edinburgh attended a gala for the Dispensaire Français, a non-profit organization providing medical and social support to French and French-speaking people in the United Kingdom. The biennial gala event took place at The French Residence in London.
The Duchess of Edinburgh has been patron of the Dispensaire Français since 2022. Before the Duchess, the late Queen Elizabeth II was the Dispensaire's patron. The organization provides services for more than 2,000 French and other French-speaking beneficiaries each year.

حذفI know what you mean as I myself know a lot of British women wearing the same lenghts on their clothes.
My personal view is that boring and pointless comments on the Duchess' s clothes lengths are due to a lack of cultural knowledge.
I think fashion rules/ habits are part of a country's culture too.
Now, if someone isn't almost certainly used to touring countries abroad and has spent her entire life in the same small corner of the world, how is this person supposed to know different traditions and be ready to understand the world out there?
What's more and on the contrary, the same person may be surprised at seeing some other royal lady in her fifties showcasing much shorter skirts/ dresses and beautiful legs and may end up bashing her.
It has already happened as a matter of fact.
That royal lady will be labelled as " inappropriate" to say the least, I bet.
I label as " inappropriate" whoever is narrow- minded and unaware of other cultures and traditions!

It is one thing if the dresses and skirts are supposed to be Maxi length, and an entirely different matter when they are worn a foot longer they were made to be worn. The garments are not shown to their best advantage. There is always personal preference, but I have always thought Sophie looks her best when her hem is below the knee, not above the ankle. She looks young in the face but her clothes tend to age her. It may be a British trend in certain circles to wear hem lengths that long, or maybe Sophie is having some fashion influence! So far, I don't see it elsewhere with the exception of an actual Maxi.

I think she looks wonderful. This dress really suits her figure although I would love to see it a bit shorter. Her hair looks great. She has it at a good length so that it can be pulled up and look very elegant. She is a beautiful woman.

I would have preferred to see Sophie wear this dress as it was designed to be worn. As usual, it is much too long. The other thing I don't care for is the way she wears the neckline. It is not meant to be worn pulled down snug, but as a portrait or funnel neckline. The sleeves are also a little snug. It is a beautiful dress, but could look much better.
