King Philippe and Queen Mathilde are making a three-day state visit to Germany. On the third day of their state visit to Germany, the King and Queen, accompanied by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Büdenbender, arrived in Dresden. Mathilde's streak continues with what is probably one of my favourite dresses in her wardrobe. I love everything about it. The retro cut, the wonderful pleating and intricate design, the colour - and the pillbox hat.

And I stick with what I said under the last Mathilde post - Ms Büdenbender might not wear the most fashionable outfit here, but I adore her for the practical choice. While I love to ogle at the Queen, I'd surely rather run around in a beige coat and sensible heels at this time of year.

      ..on point.
Love the last pic - she is an approachable and open minded Queen.

A lovely red coat with a pleated skirt for Mathilde. Looks a bit more 'busty' on top than usual, but that's OK.

All these royals in so much red and green these days. You'd think it was Christmas or something... ;)

  5. This outfit looks good, the top section is a little different to what she normally wears. The skirt has plenty of swish and movement, nice!

Beautiful color and I understand that she needs to stand out. However, the outfit is very dated, just looking at the group photo shows how out of step her fashion is with modern clothes.

Haute couture by Christian Dior is never outdated. She's a queen, it is on state visits that she can wear this kind of clothes.

Another wonderful outfit for QMat! She looks marvelous in this red ensemble. The pillbox hat is perfection. Her hair is beautifully styled too. She looks so elegant and lovely.

On the last day of this state visit Queen Mathilde chooses again a red outfit. It is a repeated dress from 2018 when she wore it for the state visit of President Macron to Belgium. The dress and coat are haute couture by Christian Dior. Unfortunately she did not look at the weather forecasting. The dress underneath is too thin for this time of the year and the pleated coat is made of a normal fabric. Lucky a lady in waiting put a cape/poncho with faux fur, which once belonged to Queen Fabiola, on her shoulders. I think Queen Mathilde wore beautiful outfits during this state visit to Germany. And her hairstyle was also very nice.

I want to like this outfit, but somehow it looks a bit dated to me and discordant with what the people Queen Mathilde is with are wearing. I like the wrap with the faux fur trim.

The people who are with Queen Mathilde and King Philippe are Belgian ministers and business people. They are wearing their normal working outfits and the female ones brought an evening dress with them to wear at the state banquet. They cannot wear haute couture of Christian Dior and Armani, it would not be nice towards the queen. Besides they may not all earn so much money that they are capable of buying very expensive clothes. When queen Mathilde is invited abroad for a state visit she represents her country and she dresses like a queen should be dressed to do so. When queen Mathilde is visiting a school or a charity institution she dresses in a Zara coat, pants and sweater. She receives also bad comments then, from all kind of people. She cannot please to everybody all the time. Nobody can.

  15. What a simply gorgeous outfit. It has real "New Look" vibes from the 1950s era of elegance. Colour is beautiful, style is wonderful, hair and hat are perfection. Lots of good outfits on this visit but Queen Mathilde has definitely saved the best till last.
