  1. Ooooh wonderful What an excellent early evening treat to see so many royals together decked in their finest. There's so much to like but Queen Silvia's super elegant outfit, CP Victoria's gorgeous apricot gown and Princess Estelle's cut down green dress are my joint top three. Princess Estelle is just fabulous and so grown up. I could maybe squeeze in CP Mary and Princess Madeleine at fourth equal. Great outfits. Looks like a fantastic evening to celebrate the King

In my opinion princess Mary's goes to the first place. Great!

  2. Very beautiful pictures! Estelle is simply gorgeous! All the ladies look wonderful, but I must say I don't like Sofias dress, too much "Carneval", if you know, what I mean.

10 points to CP Victoria, that color and dress is smashing, especially on her!

Love Madeleine’s and CP Mary’s dresses.
The dress of Madeleine, the cut and fabric is so perfect, especially like the shorter hems in the front .

Mary’s black and white, just wonderful, also, love her hairstyle to this outfit and occasion.

Estelle is so so pretty, and her dress is not too girlie, which I like.

A little bit unsure about Queen Margerethes dress, in my opinion it is too short for the occasion and her position.

Queen Silvia is always so beautiful. However, I am not so keen on the top part of the dress, with the odd string in the front.

    1. I saw someone wonder elsewhere if QMII's shorter hem here was due to mobility needs. They are walking on rough ground. Seems possible to me. It's daytime, so shorter isn't completely out of place.

Great fashion outings for Mary, Victoria and Madeleine! Fabulous dress with interesting details (cut, draping) on Queen Silvia, although I think she shines in more saturated colors. Estelle is fabulous in her mom’s reworked gown and absolutely love the metallic flats! Sofia is a major miss for me. The gown is too much…bright color, bunches of ruffles, and no one looks good in a pussy bow, especially on an evening gown.

Where to start!! All blessings to Carl Gustav!
Silvi is perfect! Look and color is good for her. Victoria is good too, she can pull off color!! Madeleine is blah.. dress is beautiful, but it seems like she wants her legs and boom to take away the looks from poor Chris’ He looks really ready for some diet and Betty Ford!!! I like Sofia, she has strong colors too. QM, I love her, but a short dress? She should have some evening gowns that are not so heavy… QA-M, looks good,
blue is a good color for her, pearls too! Mary, I understand the need to wear black and white, she looks good too! Sadly there is not my crownprincess MM, and we see so little of Sonja, she should thougj cool down on red with white stockings… I lovw her anyway!!! Estelle is charming, I hope the dress is not her mothers, as it would be a waste to change a dress Estelle could use many times for this one time apperance. All
    over good

HOW IN THE HELL IS THIS OK?

    2. Agree about Chris. I´m sad to see him in such poor shape. He used to be a good-looking man, but shortly after getting engaged to Madeleine, he started to decline and has since both put on a lot of weight and aged a lot. If I was him I´d work harder especially since his wife is 8 years younger and stunning. Chris is 48 but looks like 60.

Queen Silvia wears a beautiful dress although it is not my favourite shade of pink/beige. Love CP Victoria's dress. Very elegant and I would like to get a better view of her earrings. So cute to see Estelle wear her mothers dress. She is so sweet with her little brother in tow. CP Mary looks very elegant in her black and white dress that fits impeccably. The same can not be said about P Madeleine's dress. I get a feeling it is sinking and I do not like the sloping hem. Feels a bit outdated by now. Queen Margarethe and her sister Queen Anna Maria also look good and festive.

    1. Normally it drives me up a wall when women don't pin their hair up with strapless evening gowns but Madeleine gets it pitch perfect here. What a great head of hair! She continues to hold the title of most beautiful and glamorous born Royal princess in Europe, imho.

Victoria's gown is perfect in every way...fit, color and style. My favorite of the evening in fact!

  13. Victoria looks smashing. What a wonderful colour, great design and flattering cut. I also like Mary´s gown a lot, and she styled it beautifully. Estelle looks fabulous, too. I doubt it´s her mother´s dress though - I think they got her a new one in the right size rather than reworking the entire dress. Anyway - great colour for her and the style is just right for her age.
Margrethe´s outfit is beautiful but I agree with the above comments that she really needed a floor-length gown for the occasion.
All the other dresses are less successful, I think, for various reasons.
Anne-Marie is too shiny in her otherwise nice gown. Wrong material.
Madeleine likes pastel colours, we know, but I find the colour very bland. And I have never been a fan of high-low hemlines.
Silvia - This may be an exquisite dress but I find it disappointing on her. She looks better in stronger colours and more defined cuts.
Sofia looks kitschy I must say. The barbie pink plus all the ruffles and bows. Too much. I dislike Sonja´s for the same reasons though the colour is much better. Christina - it´s comfortable, I guess and the purple shawl is nice, but the dress is basically a sack.
All in all I am happy to see some sleeveless, strapless and asymmetrical dresses for a change and none of the high-neck, long sleeve frilly prairie nonsense. This is refreshingly different, and some interesting colours to boot.

    1. Several points on which I agree with Vanessa : above all Victoria looks smashing ! She really made a good choice. For once I am disappointed about Qn Silvia's dress, particularly the color and for the same reasons as mentioned by others. She looks so good in bright colors.
I feel sad about Estelle adapted dress, the color above all is not adapted to this lovely young girl, really a pity. I am also on the fence about Sofia's dress. I also very much like CP Mary's gown.

  14. Queen Silvia looks beautiful, love her gown, the bodice area is very pretty, beading is exquisite, sublime color. Love her choice of jewels. CP Victoria, superb, love her off the shoulder gown, color, gorgeous.
Princess Madeleine looks very pretty, her gown looks stunning.
Princess Sofia's gown I don't like at all, from the tiered frills and bow at her neck, way too busy.
Queen Margrethe´s gown I most probably am wrong, but I thought this had been a long gown, had she had it shortened? regardless, longer would have been nicer.
CP Mary looks sensational, love the overall look, her jewelry, perfection.
Anne-Marie's gown, fabric is too shiny, but the design suits her, the brooch she is wearing is gorgeous.

Everything has been said. I took a good look at the dresses and it is CP Victoria who receives the first prize. From a distance Queen Silvia's dress looks elegant and sophisticated, but when I took a closer look at the bodice, I didn't found it a very good choice. All the others rather looked not very attractive, except for princess Estelle who worn her mothers dress by H&M. The dress has been adapted for her. A pity the dress was not in a fresher color. Rose

About Estelle's dress, I saw in other pictures that it is almost see through, you could see her legs all the way, maybe not appropriate for such a young girl. I also saw Sofia's shoes, hideously ugly, they are light pink and very much platform. Cc

    2. Anonymous15/9/23 12:41

"Not appropriate for such a young girl" ? I think it is just more appropriate for a young person than for an adult woman. Besides what is wrong with a pair of legs. Princess Madeleines dress is almost falling from her breast. One could make comments on that too. Rose

Difficult to say who's my favorite because I liked all the looks, Silvia, Madeleine, Victoria, Mary, Estelle, etc. Hair: I liked Mary's soft waves and the way Madeleine wore stunning diamond brooch in her hair. Gorgeous.

Madeleine is wearing a new Marchesa dress. Queen Sonja reuses Dundas from 2019. Anne-Marie is reusing her Celia Kritharioti gown, Victoria in a new Christer Lindarw gown, Queen Silvia is in a Georg et Arend, Queen Margrethe is reusing her Birgitte Thaulow from her own 50 year jubilee in 2022 and as mention Sofia in Lars Wallin, Estelle in H&M and Mary in Lasse Spangenberg. They all look lovely. To bad Mette-Marit was to sick to attend.

  22. I think that with all the glam and glitter that’s overwhelmed us, we’ve forgotten about the star of the show, King Carl Gustaf.
Congratulations to the king for his 50 years of duty and service to Sweden.
He is the longest reigning monarch in Swedish history. For over 40 years his wife, Queen Silvia, has been his right hand man, sorry woman.
May the King and Queen Silvia continue to enjoy many more years with good health and happiness as Sweden’s King and Queen.
    Again, congratulations your majesty.
Fashion note, he is a VERY dapper dresser and with Queen Silvia, they always make a handsome couple.
p.s. The king has four elder sisters and I’m anxious to read (when time permits), about where they are and what they’re doing today.

    1. Except for Princess Christina, none of the King's sisters will attend. They all are not able to be with him for this jubilee, sadly. Fashionwise I like all the dresses, and I might be the only one to be positive about the hot pink flamenco style dress of Princess Sofia. Someone asked about the whereabouts of Princess Benedikte, and I think she won't be attending either. I heard it's only Scandinavian kings/queens (plus heirs to the throne), Queen Anne-Marie made it to the festivities because she's a queen of Scandinavian descent.

As we all (?) have noticed the dress code for the evening is smoking (black tie) for gentlemen. This means for the ladies a short or a long dress (knee-length to sloor length) The custom in the Scandinavian countries allows all lengths - I know it can be different in some other countries.
The gala dinner on Friday evening presumably is full gala (frac/ white tie).
Queen Margrethe had a big back operation earlier this year. She still needs to use walking stick for safety, specially if walking out-of-doors. Avoiding a floor-length gown is a matter of safety. And after 50 years on throne queen Margrethe knows the protocol better than any of us commenting here.
Benedikte missing? If I remember it correctly the Danish law requires that someone on the succession list must stay in Denmark if the queen and crown prince are abroad. This time it was Benedikte.
About the pussy-bow I already wrote: a new custom, to show respect to a magnificent lady who passed away a few years ago. (Try to find photos from Nobel festivities)
Also the presidents of Finland and Iceland were invited and attended with their spouses.

The winner is Princess Mary, she looks lovely. Sofia, and Victoria's dresses are too fussy and the uneven hem in Madeleines dress is not becoming. I don't care for Estelle's dress, shape or color, she needs to dress younger. I didn't care for it when Victoria wore it.

Nice gowns. I didn't care much for the bow on Sofias gown or the horrible shoes. also, I think she should have worn her hair up. Madelaines gown was more a Prom dress IMO. Mary was stunning. css
