King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden celebrates his Golden Jubilee today by being the first monarch in his country’s history to reign for 50 years. King Carl Gustaf ascended the throne on September 15, 1973 upon the death of his grandfather, King Gustaf VI Adolph.
The day began with a Te Deum service at the Royal Chapel of Stockholm Palace that was attended by members of the Royal Family, Nordic royal guests, other Nordic heads of state and representatives from the Swedish Government.
Nordic royal guests, including King Harald, Queen Sonja, Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary and Queen Anne-Marie attended the Te Deum service.
Members of the Swedish royal family, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Madeleine, Chris O’Neill, Princess Christina and Tord Magnuson were present at the service.
Die Damen sehen alle fabelhaft ( auch wenn Rüschen und Blümchen nicht mein Geschmack sind) aus. Prinzessin Madeleine aber ist hier die eleganteste!

DeleteEverybody's so chic and beautiful and today the Kings trousers are the right length! The other day they were too long I read here somewhere! And they really were!!! The King's suits are always very well tailored. I say as Sabsi (15/9/23 12:18) that the dresses are all a little too much....too much flowers and ruche....They are all beginning to look a little tired by now. Hope they can get a rest during the day! Many are very old.....Ac

I think Mary' s dress is beautiful but I remember that some people commented that it was a bit busy the first time she wore it.
Madeleine 's dress looks very classy .I think Kate has the same design in yellow.
I love the color of Sofia' s dress but the hat is a bit big and her hair might have looked better up.
I assume that there will be a formal dinner tonight so looking forward to more fashion.
Finally it seems only the Scadanavian royals have been invited.
I was expecting to see the European royals too.

DeleteThis is just the same as we saw when Queen Margrethe had her jubilee in 2022, only the Scandinavians were invited. Obviously they are inviting there closest friends and family.
DeleteKing and Queen look great. Queen Silvia does this kind of outfit so well every time. Ps Madeleine looks stunning. Love the dress and hat. CP Victoria is in one of these high necked , fluffy sleeve dresses so popular at the moment but at least it doesn't have any ruffles. Which is why I will not comment on CP Mary.

DeleteI agree, Princess Madeleine is the most elegant. Pure lines, flattering colour, perfect length, lovely “platform“ for the commemorative decoration conferred on the guests. Queen Sonja lacks her usual elegance; her skirt looks very short and out of proportion, a pity.

Princess Madeleine knocked it out of the park this time. And Queen Anne-Marie a close second. The butter yellow ensemble Princess Sofia was wearing could have looked good had she chosen an updo to go with this wider brimmed hat. I also like the two piece outfit of Queen Margrethe. All the others did well but nothing too outstanding, with aforementioned exceptions.

Queen Silvia is looking elegant in her classic two pieces. The hat is perfect. Maybe her skirt is a tad too short when she is sitting down. CP Victoria's and CP Mary's dresses are making them look older than they really are. Princess Madeleine's dress has a good color but the wrap-effect on her chest adds to much volume. Princess Sofia looks lovely and soft in that pale yellow dress. Maybe the hat (which is a bit too big) and the shoes better in another color than yellow. Princess Estelle is looking good in her light blue dress. It looks like it is a similar dress to the pink one she wore the other day. Both dresses are age appropriate. She and Oscar have a big smile on their face. Rose

ReplyDeleteDe toutes ces dames, la princesse Sofia remporte la palme dans cette couleur jaune qui convient bien à son teint mais le bât blesse au niveau de son chapeau qui me fait penser à une large soucoupe sans oublier les chaussures que j'aurais vues par exemple de couleur blanche !
ReplyDeleteWonderful More evening joy for royal watchers. My top pick this time is definitely Princess madeleine's lovely blue outfit It's perfect. Next is Queen Margrethe's beautifully coordinated outfit (I'm ignoring the shoes as I know she has back problems and is limited in her footwear choices) Third is Princess Estelle in her Chanel style outfit. Princess Sofia is in fourth place because, although the outfit is gorgeous it's spoiled buy the straggly hair. Why on earth did she not have it pinned up? Queens Silvia, Sonja and Anne Marie are all perfectly "nice" and CPs Mary and Victoria are wearing the high necked flowery numbers we've seen so many of this year. Great to see the King's sisters there.

DeleteWhen the family stands on the balcony, Sofia spoke the whole time when the music played and the choir sing for the king, that is not to show respect for other people! The have practice for a long time!
ReplyDeleteMadeleine!!! Simply stunning--everything about her outfit is perfect. Love Mary's look--very feminine and pretty. Sofia's dress is very pretty but her hat is a big miss for me because of her hair. Had she worn her hair up and the balance of the hat on her head better I would say she looked amazing. Not sure about Victoria--she looks good but maybe the pale color of dress is the issue. It sort of washes her out. Estelle and Oscar look so cute--Oscar so serious and Estelle is glowing. The 4 queens look elegant. I would change Sonja's hat--it doesn't go with her outfit in my opinion. Love that Margrethe wore her Daisy brooch--a family treasure handed down from the grandmother of both KCG and QM--and she looks great in her vibrant purple. Anne Marie is very pretty in her deep purple--her shawl is gorgeous. Finally, Silvia--so elegant in her suit dress--is lovely in her pale blue. Love seeing all the ladies in their daytime finery!!!

Great looking dresses would like them myself. I only wished Sofia had worn her hair up. Some of the dresses and gowns are repeat and this is super. I for one loved it. Just wished more RH had been invited. css
