On September 6, Queen Margrethe and Crown Princess Mary attended the premiere of the movie "Ehrengard" at Moltke's Palace in Copenhagen. The film is based on Ehrengard, one of the last works of Karen Blixen. Baroness Karen von Blixen-Finecke is one of Denmark’s internationally most recognized female poets, author and storyteller.
Queen Margrethe is the set designer of Ehrengard. The Queen has been actively engaged in a number of artistic modes of expression, such as painting, church textiles, scenography and embroidery. The Queen is a honorary member of the Association of Danish Scenographers for her many years of work as a set designer in Danish film, television and theater sectors.

I prefer this sort of bun than the usual one for the queen. Nice initiative from the Queen and the Prcss.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the new style of bun and the decorative turquoise comb. It flatters the Danish Queen very much and shows that she still likes trying something different with a chic twist. Both royal ladies are very elegant.
DeleteQueen Margrethe looks elegant in this simple slim red ensemble. But what I really don't like is the colour clash with turquoise jewellery. She introduced a new hairstyle which I am greeting wholeheartedly, because her usual french twist was somehow very unproportional to her thinning hair at the front. This style, showing her natural head form instead of - well, giving it an unnatural look with the french twist. An allover very good look (except the turqoiuse jewellery). Mary is her pretty feminine looking self, personally, I don't like that much (pink) lace. (GM)
ReplyDeleteQueen styles her hair knot better than CP Victoria, very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMary know how to recycle a dress, well done.

Queen Margrethe is wearing an excellent two-pieces or is it a dress ? The color looks good for her. I am not a fan of the way her hair is done. The lady on picture 3 & 4 is wearing the same green dress Duchess Catherine has. Rose
ReplyDeleteWe have seen this lovely dress on Mary twice before.
ReplyDeleteI think the first time was at a royal wedding about ten years ago.
I like the color of the Queen's outfit but find it a bit shapeless.
Lovely outing. It's great to see The Queen and The Crown Princess getting along so well and enjoying the time together. HM's looks very elegant and sleek and her accessories and matching hair interest is wonderful and creative. I applaud the Crown Princess' recycling and literal re-design of her older clothing. it would be great if other royal ladies followed suit. Unfortunately, this one is a miss for me and it doesn't seem to fit as smoothly as before; it seems a bit too tight with fabric gathering in at least one photo and and is somehow not as flattering overall as the original version, especially in the arm area. Still brava for creativity!

La reine Margrethe est superbement bien coiffée avec ce petit chignon bas ; dommage que je ne puisse pas mieux voir si elle porte une robe sous une longue tunique ?! Quel beau contraste que ses bijoux turquoise !
ReplyDelete@ Aloise. Other Royal ladies like Queen Mathilde are regularly wearing older dresses, hats, clutches, shoes,... too.
ReplyDeleteYes, but are they literally re-working and re-designing them? To my knowledge, others simply re-wear; perhaps re-style, but never re-design.

Aloise, I wouldn't call making a long dress shorter re-design. If a dress is beautiful and fits well better wear it on several occasions; than trying to change something which in general doesn't work. In CP Mary's case the dress is still beautiful.
DeleteI like the queens red tunic with what looks like wide pants, at least sitting down. She has some really splendid pieces of turquoise jewellery. Love her new hairstyle. CP Mary looks good in her pink dress.

HMQ is such a talented lady. She looks lovely in red.The turquoise jewellery adds a flare/contrast to the red.
ReplyDeleteCP Mary is a true example of sustainable fashion.Of late she has re-worn or re-styled outfits she’s had in her closet for over a decade. This dress being an example of that. Bea
A very nice combination of gowns, by the ladies worn to this event. The Queen sticks out with the beautiful red. Love the Queens jewelry. Even one lady wears a gown by the designer the vampire's wife. css
ReplyDeleteLove the Queen's red ensemble and CP Mary's outfit is also suitably elegant. I love the bright blue colour of the dress worn by one of the ladies but not it's style. The green Vampire's Wife dress, which the Princess of Wales wore in Ireland and for her portrait, is distinctive but it's not my favourite.
ReplyDeleteThe actress in the green dress, to the left in the picture 1, 3 and 4 looks very lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt's Sidse Babett Knudsen (for "Borgen" fans)
DeleteI love the green/olive colored dress on the lady to the left of the picture. She looks stunning, beautiful gown.
ReplyDeleteCP Mary looks lovely, though I am not a fan of dense lace dresses/gowns.
The Queen looks lovely with her hair styled this way. Her outfit doesn't seem to have shape.
Lovely hair clasp and earrings. I love that Queen Margrethe wears red for Denmark ;it is so bright and cheery. I like the style of the red checkered poofy dress. ,picture 9. Mary looks okay; not a fan of lacey dresses.(Tara)
ReplyDeleteLove her turquoise comb, very tasty!
