On September 5, 2023, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark attended a respect ceremony to mark Denmark's Flag Day 2023. The respect ceremony was held at 'The Citadel' (Kastellet) in Copenhagen in honor of Danish soldiers and officials who are or have been deployed abroad.

The shoes are inappropriate for the ceremony.

Mary looks lovely. I adore the hat! Her ensemble is simple thought stylish, so the hat is a lovely statement

  3. Silhouette magnifique jusque dans ses escarpins ; au niveau de la capeline, je me serais abstenue de cette grosse fleur trop envahissante ; j'envie son clutch qui finalise son look !

I am not too fond of this outfit. Perhaps it is the very large flower. I don't like this kind of neckline either.

Beautiful and elegant outfit plus a fabulous hat! Love how Mary digs into her closet to do new mixes--I have always loved this skirt but never thought of it for a solemn occasion but Mary has made a perfect look with the black blouse. Mary looks so lovely.

Mary is so stylish and elegant, as always.
She has so stunning figure also.

  10. I like what Mary is wearing. It´s solemn enough to mark the occasion but not somber or depressing like memorial outfits often are.

Love this ensemble especially with the dramatic hat

  12. Princess Mary’s outfit has been well chosen for the event.
Good to see again a reware/remix.
Although the hat is perhaps too much of a statement for this event.
Something just a little smaller and with a modest trimming.
It’s a hat for a wedding or lady’s day at Ascot.

I am also not a fan of this neckline, but high it probably has to be. Apart from that, the skirt is divine and the dialog between the florals on the skirt and the flower on her hat is perfect harmony. She wears hats beautifully and this occasion is no exception. I am also very happy with her choice of accessoires, so much better than simply black heels (which could have been the case). Mary uses and combines florals very expertly. (GM)

I love this outfit that Mary has put together, and especially the hat. I love picture hats when worn correctly, and here the flower works perfectly with it. The entire outfit strikes the right balance of style and solemnity without too much of one or the other. Beautiful.

CP Mary looks very appropriate, for this event. To honor the Soldiers who gave their all. For God Country and Queen. Thank you all for your gift to the Nation. Freedom is not free. css

  17. I agree with the comment that Mary's shoes look painful.
I wonder if Mary and other royal ladies will endure foot problems like bunions in the future because of the high heels that they wear.

A hymn to pure elegance and class.
The wide hat is a minor quibble.
Princess Mary looks a bit moved and it is quite understandable.
It was Denmark's Flag Day plus a tribute to the fallen soldiers in the two world wars as well as the personnel currently deployed abroad.
The Ukrainian conflict and other worldwide conflicts come to mind too.
Kastellet is situated on an old military fortress in Copenhagen and it is one of its landmarks.
