    1. On the first pictures I hardly recognized Ingrid Alexandra; her dress is ok for the occasion although the slit is a bit excessive, we could say. It is her hair which disappoints me somehow.

    2. I think she looked better on her birthday (June 2022) : https://www.newmyroyals.com/2022/06/norwegian-king-and-queen-hosted-gala.html, particularly 3 last pictures.

  2. This is a private party and not a state occasion, but I´m still irritated to see sneakers at such a function.
Sverre Magnus used to be a somewhat awkward teenager but has really turned into a stately young man. He´s also looking increasingly like young Haakon, I must say.

I highly doubt that the sneakers were a fashion choice, but were rather a medical/mobility necessity. For a woman of her age attending her daughters private and informal 50th birthday and wedding celebration (only family and friends), I'd cut her some slack and allow her to wear whatever gives her feet (or back) comfort ,and keeps her pain free.

HRH P Mette Marit’s dress is just lovely on her and what a fun accessory the Toucan handbag is! HH P Martha Louise looks beautiful - the colors of her dress are so flattering, and it fits her extremely well. HM Q Sonya’s dress is a pretty print, especially for a garden party. I think I would prefer it a little longer than it is currently; it seems a bit of an awkward length to me. It’s always good to see HH P Astrid and I LOVE that she always has pretty shoes.
May the Crown Prince couple have many more years!

I don’t like the ‘your highness’ thing. Of course they deserve respect, but like we al do. But although they have a ‘ better’ social position as a lot of us, I don’t regard them as higher than me. But that’s my opinion…

I like all their outfits and dresses. MM looks lovely.
Given that this was a private, informal party for family and friends only, I like seeing them 'letting their hair down' a little in their sartorial choices and wearing new and different things that we otherwise rarely see. I think P. Ingrid Alexandra looks great - youthful and sexy, like millions of other young women her age in this day and time. More power to this strong, beautiful young lady.
(Even though he is not listed, I wonder if Marius attended the celebration; I know he is off doing his own thing but he is close to his mother and the Norwegian Royal family.)

Private party..in state halls - the royal palace. Does it mean that anyone can rent the place for a private party? I don’t think so. Meaning some kind of formality is required, otherwise they should have held it in their own residense.
Sneakers and high slitz are inappropriate based on where the party is being held.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous27/8/23 13:33

      @Anon 17:54 Nonsense.
      1) It clearly says that this was a garden party set in the backyard of the royal palace. Wearing shoes that allow you to walk on possible uneven surfaces (like grass or stones) matters a lot to some people.
      2) For an informal gathering for just family and good friends (this is not a state function requiring protocol), it's about the interpersonal comfort and friendships, not the stature of the venue that determines your outfit. Wear what you're comfortable with among your close friends. Nothing wrong with what any of them are wearing for this occasion.

17:54 this was an informal event. The invite said summer dress. It was published that they could wear whatever they wanted. PS how many of us dosen't wear sneakers to a summer dress? You critize an 86 year old woman who needed to be supported when she walked. And the split. Guaf break. She is 20 years old she can dress like a 20 year old girl. We have seen a Spanish Queen in short, short dresses. We have seen a Swedish Crown Princess in short, short dresses and we have seen the Princess of Wales in short, short dresse several times on offical duties. More times than we can count. The difference was the 3 other ladies was in their 30 and 40. Stop this bs.

    1. Why? This was a private party and we got some photos anyway. She looks like almost every young woman at her age in nordic countries look in private parties. And there is nothing wrong with it. Her parents have approved it, so, what's the problem? She really is "bold and beautiful" 😊.
Princess Martha Louise looks better than for a long time.

    2. Anonymous26/8/23 18:00

Yeah, although she is not any other young woman in the nordics. Tattoos, high slitz, no guidance in further education...In comparison to the youngsters in other royal households this is a disappointment.

    3. @anon 18:00, why compare to the others? IA has her own path to go. I hope that she will keep her own style and be a brave role model for all girls who are not confident with those ancient role models. What do you mean Ingrid Alexandra has no guidance in further education? Ingrid Alexandra went to Oslo International School, where she learnt to speak English fluently. Then she went to a Norwegian secondary school, where she graduated from the university preparatory track. She was said to be a very good student and active in student government. She herself said her favourite subjects were Chemistry, English and Geography. She is very interested in the environment, an incredibly skilled skier who can even jump, and participates in surfing competitions, once winning the Norwegian championships for her age group. She paints, plays the guitar and has an interest in literature.
Now she will work as a school assistant until her military training starts in January. She chose to train with a military engineer corps! After her military education, she will go on to university. Why on earth are you portraying her as less educated than other royals?

    6. Anonymous28/8/23 07:38

Anno 26/8/23 18:00 try not to be so... IA do NOT have a tattoo, and even if she had it's her prerogative just like the rest of us. And education? Please, she just graduated from upper secondary school this year and are going to do her military training just like we see her piers in Belgium and Spain also are doing right now. After that she probably are gonna continue her education. So give us a break. She is in the middle of her education. You can criticize her education 10 years from now, not today. And the split please tell me what's the difference with her and a Queen, a crown princess, a princess and the princess of Wales in these mini skirts so short they can impossible sit in them without showing what they have to offer. Even little Charlotte of ours will have a more guided and conservative upbringing than ”IA”..mark my words.

My favourite is Sonja's dress, such a beautiful combination of colours (without being floral). I also adore her modern jewellery. The Vampire's Wife does not do any favours for Mette-Marit. She does not seem to make her choices on the basis of her given attributes but solely on the basis if she likes them. Floral tulle from top to bottom, high neckline and puffed sleeves is just too much sweetness and not really favourable for her body type. Ingrid-Alexandra is her very pretty self, in a very pretty dress, I would have made that split just tiny 10 centimeters shorter. And now come to think of it, you know what? this type of dress with just a bit less decolletage and maybe less or no split could have been really wonderful on Mette-Marit - block colour, simple cut, more skin and structure, no puffs anywhere.

I totally agree with your comment on the queens dress. Beautiful and elegant. I simply do not like Princess Mette Marits dress style. As you say her choice of puffed sleeves, prairie style, high neck is not the for me. she dresses like a little girl. I hardly recognised P Alexandra. Her dress is lovely and youthful. Perhaps a little more makeup to cover the bikini lines would have been good.

10 points for Queen Sonia . beautiful colors, dress is slightly too short but maybe she didn't wish to take any risk to fall on the ground.
9 points for Princess Ingrid Alexandra : sexy outfit, but since she is young and being a beautiful girl, she can have it (after all it is a family & friends party).
8 points for CP Mette-Marit : beautiful dress. With a V neckline the dress would have looked better adapted to her body type.

As for MM's mom, I understand that she might need confort in her feet due to health reasons, but I just don't see my mom or any of her sisters arriving like this to a party. In my opinion she could have used other shoes to enter the party and half way changed to something more comfortable.

Your idea to change shoes somewhere half way is extremely impractical to fulfill. There usually are several persons needing the change: several chairs are necessary, where put the other pair of shoes, changing the shoes makes a stop in the line of incoming people etc. The result: a chaos! That happened to me in February this year (a white tie event). Winter - a change of shoes necessary, most people over 50. No change of shoes in summer!
