On July 29, 2023, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco and Camille Gottlieb attended the 74th annual Monaco Red Cross Charity Gala Ball at the Monte-Carlo Sporting (Salle des Etoiles) in Monaco. The gala was created in 1948 by Prince Louis II of Monaco and since that year, it has been organized as a fund-raising event. The Red Cross Ball in Monaco is one of the largest charity galas in the world.

Thanks for drawing our attention to last year event. Honestly I prefer the 2023 event where Charlene looks more natural and relax. In 2022 I got a feeling of uneasiness.

I agree! Charlene looks wonderful and would love to see more of those fabulous earrings. But the dress seems a little too big for her and I don’t care much for the neckline. Camille is very pretty and the the style and purple blue color of her dress is amazing.

DeleteI agree. It is definitely not quite right and doesn't sit properly across her shoulders. Also think the top is too big and should fit better. She is looking beautiful with her glowing creamy skin and darker hair.
DeleteShe has swimmers' shoulders and this gown does not try to hide it - but I don't think it makes them any larger than they are. What is maybe more unusual is the cinched in slim waist, this gives her a different silhouette than the usual somewhat straight dresses she often wears. I love it and I think she looks absolutely beautiful. A more open neckline could make a difference though. And those earrings are a dream ... adorable. (GM)

I cannot wait to learn more about her jewelry. Camille looks very pretty in her beautiful gown--can't tell if its blue or a shade of purple. Uncertain about the embellishment at the neckline of the cape because the gown is beautiful on its own. Still, her gown is the stuff of fairytales.

DeleteCharlene looks great in white and the vertical lines of sparkle are fun! The cut is a little boxy but those fabulous earrings are a major highlight. Camilla’s dress seems too busy but the cape is fantastic. This event is the one to go all out, so love to see such fashion drama!

ReplyDeleteCamille or Camilla, looks nice but I would have preferred to see just Albert and Charlene. I feel Caroline's children are very imposing on the main members of the princely family. This is one family I would love to see trimmed down to just the titled members.

3 of Caroline's 4 children do not even live in Monaco, so not sure how they are imposing on the main members of the family?? Stephanie's children attend more events than Caroline's do.
DeleteHowever, as opposed to other royal families, this one will not be trimmed down, because they are not paid by the tax payer. Wherever they appear, they appear for free and also pay for their clothes privately.
Camille is an administrator for the youth section of the Red Cross hence her attendance. And perhaps her presence at other events is helpful to Princess Charlene recovering from her illness. Camille seems like such a down to earth person.

Her gown looks fabulous, and I agree in person, I think better still. Camille looks stunning. Her gown looks lovely, it does look a little mature for her, regardless beautiful.

DeleteWhat an eye- catching make- up, of course it was meant to be this way since the very first moment Charlene (or her make- up artist) chose to create it.
This the so called ' strobing' make- up technique, which enlightens some points on the face and reflects the lights in the surroundings.
It is a bit complicated but the wow effect is assured.
This kind of make- up is meant to be worn when there are strong lights indoors/ outfoors and it is sometimes used by models on catwalks and shooting sessions.
This make- up shouldn' t be worn under.natural light as it is a bit heavy.

As to the products : you basically need a good cream foundation and cream or liquid highlighters and a lipgloss.
Power products can be used as well but they are not advisable on dry skin or in hot weather.
Different products must be used according to one's skin tone too.
As I said, this is not a make- up for daytime as it is a bit heavy.
It should be applied on pre- treated/ well hydrated skin (skincare) and on particular occasions , especially when there are strong artificial lights which can reflect the glow on the highlighted face points👍

You know, I have read that Charlene' s gown was interwoven with little shining stones.
I think she chose clean lines for her outfit as not to get a too busy final effect.
I mean, if the gown had had more details on its design, it would have ended up in a rather heavy overall result IMO.
There was already so much glo👋w all around her: the white shade, the crystals on her gown, the glowing make- up, the shimmering jaw- dropping jewels.
I think there was a good deal to shine!

On the last picture however there is something that I don't like but I don't know exactly what it is. Maybe sleeves ending just above the elbow would make it look better. Rose

The Princess looks beautiful - relaxed and polished; so lovely to see her out and about so much lately. These earrings are wonderful, but HSH has a fantastic jewelry collection, including two magnificent tiaras made specifically for her - I would dearly love to see her wearing one of them! The Bäumer Aigrette tiara would have looked amazing with this dress (In its original upright spray position in particular) Perhaps next time?

The dress is too “ nunnery” for me on the front,the shoulders too broad and the neckline too oldfashioned. This in combination with too much tissue makes it a grandma dress…until you see the backside!
Make some changes at the front and it will be stunning!

Princesse Charlène's dress is quite fetching, although I would have preferred the sleeves not tighter but a little shorter indeed. That would have made the whole arm-section much more refined and less baggy. The earrings are, of course, to die for.

It's good to see her out and about and her styling overall is good - the earrings are magnificent, the makeup is great and she looks pretty in white. I just wish the dress had a little more shape. And I don't mean skintight, just... a more refined neckline, a more elegant transition from bodice to sleeves, a more prominent belt detail... something to make it special. I think my main issue is the t-shirt neckline. It's bland and not flattering. A slit- or boatneck might've helped.

I agree with those who find something “off” about the bodice, admittedly something difficult to define. My first reaction to the overall look was that it just doesn’t have that measure of va-va-voom glamor you expect at Monaco’s important evening events; after giving it some thought I’d say the problem is with the shoulders. Admittedly those amazing swimmer’s shoulders will always present a sartorial challenge; covering them up, as here, can emphasize them just as much as exposing them does. So, I think a strapless bodice or a halter top would have worked much better for this occasion. Imo Camille’s regal look nails it and would have been lovely on Charlene! — Jane

ReplyDeleteThe dress could have looked stunning, the sleeve should have been cut into the shoulders more and the neck line not so high or a V, could have saved the day from granny style to pure elegance. Her hairstyle and makeup is quite lovely on her. Through the high necklines away, they always make us look chunky around the torso.

DeleteOn another site where they call a spade a spade, Princess Charlene comes out with a good 80% of positive comments. Always someone who tries to stir up a controversy but they were well overshadowed by the positive comments in this case.
