On May 22, 2023, Princess of Wales visited the 2023 Chelsea Flower Show at Royal Hospital Chelsea in London. The Princess took part in the first Children's Picnic at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The children were from 10 schools from the Royal Horticultural Society’s campaign for school gardening, invited to an outdoor lunch ahead of the launch of the RHS’ world-famous horticultural event.

One of the gardens on display at the Chelsea Flower Show this year holds particular relevance to the new King and Queen. Titled ‘The Royal Tribute Garden’, it is set to commemorate the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and mark King Charles’s Coronation.

I'm glad to see this dress again, it makes me happy (probably the pink colors, just so summery). She looks great. Nice touch with the earrings too.

I never liked that dress. So old fashion in shape and everything. Just the color is lovely. ME + EM dresses are never to my liking.

  8. Très jolie robe-chemisier dont le rose estival lui va à merveille ; c'est parfait avec les chaussures compensées !

Love this beautiful colour that looks great on Kate. However she should stop with this model of dresses. Too long and that's why it does not do anything good for her figure.

Lovely dress until the uneven hem. I don't understand why as it is a bit too long to begin. Pretty color.

Nice to see her at the Flower show, she is the first Royal to be there. So, we can see many more. The dress is not a wow. css

The princess is beautiful, full of sparkle. But the dress is really old fashioned and boring. Maby a nice bright pantsuit like Marie wore at her son's confirmation would have been more modern and stylish.

  14. The ME+EM fashion house is British to its back teeth.
The founder and owner, Clare Hornby is British and lives in Oxfordshire.
Perhaps this could be why some bloggers are describing Princess Catherine's dress as boring and/or old fashioned. A very British creation.
Established over 20 years ago, the founder’s aim was to create affordable, luxurious wardrobe classics.
I think the Princess’s dress fits in perfectly with this very British and famous Royal Chelsea Flower Show.
The show started over 100 years ago. It is now perhaps the most famous flower show in the world.
It's a "must" to visit for anybody who is anybody. Especially, the Royals.
Ticket prices are around 50 pounds sterling per person (58 Euros)

      Entirely agreed, Deadeggs.
The point is that this is one of the most typical British events so it requires one British to its back teeth sartorial choice.
It is just like going to garden parties or to the Ascot races in a way and one must be ready to wear what Is considered as appropriate to fit in the surroundings and be up to people's expectations especially as far as the BRF is concerned.
PersonalIy, I love the bright pink / flamingo shade more than the design itself.

Thanks for the background. As for those that think the dress is old fashioned, I personally think a shirtdress is a classic and will never go out of style.

I read somewhere that she wanted to honour the late Queen who had worn a rose-coloured coat on her last visit to this Flower Show - 3 months before she died. I think this colour suits Catherine well - and she is always optimistic, smiling, welcoming.

Good memory! I thought i saw it, …. not sure what’s off with this dress, colour wise or style or probably both. never liked this dress. So boring and old fashion 🫣

The Princess of Wales looks lovely butI’m not a fan of this dress at all. I don’t like the different shades of pink and the long sleeved shirt dress does look rather old fashioned. It compares very unfavourably with the lovely green dress she wore last week

Beautiful color on Catherine but I really do not like this dress. It looks like she is wearing a pinafore or apron as a result of darker pink panel in the front of the dress that has a tie around her waist. If only the belt were tied in the front like on the model then I would probably like the dress much better.

I agree on the apron effect. But the colour suits her well and she looks lovely.

  21. The dress - very classical, not very exciting, but then Catherine doesn't have to wear exciting stuff, it's not in her job description at all. She looks good in it, down-to-earth and accessible and might as well take a trowel and plant some bulbs in it.
What really irks me is the use of two colour tones. It reminds me of those 1940s Frankenstein dresses where women made do by combining two worn-out dresses into one. It looks awkward.

It's a little old-fashioned. She must have this same dress in a dozen colors. But she looks lovely in it anyway!
