Agree to the nope on this dress. First, it looks like it's slipping down (as usual, not tailored well enough). It needs the straps. Second, she needs to even out her tan lines, wearing a formal dress with tan lines is tacky. And lastly, the patterns on the dress don't line up at the seams. This is shoddy craftsmanship for an expensive dress.

  7. Congratulations to Duchess Meghan.
Her gown bustier is by Johanna Ortiz who is a Colombian stylist.
She was born in Cali, Colombia. She is now quoted as being one of the top Latin designers.
On another site, they talk about the fabric being difficult to work with.
The fabric is known as gold jacquard.
To me the gown has a Hollywood vibe about it (a positive comment).
I love the Duchess’s mother’s dress. Simple yet smart.

Meghan looks lovely in this dress. The stiff fabric looks like beaten metal, but I think that it's supposed to, because of the gold colour. Meghan has chosen the strapless style, but I think that the dress looks sexier WITH the shoulder straps in combination with the peep hole, as shown on the model. Either way, she looks great. Her mother Doria looks very chic and stylish too and I'm happy that she was present.

At the beginning of her daughter's relationship with Harry, she was quite simply dressed, jeans, T-shirt and sneakers, very casual. 2. As in so many other areas of life, recollections seem to vary as far as the "chase" in NYC is concerned. Just saying.

As to the dress - the fabric is very, very beautiful and rich, but I don't think it's best used in dresses. a) It just makes Meghan look square and b) it creates weird horizontal stretch lines.
I think something flowy looks much better on Meghan.

deadeggs see the statements by the NYPD, the NY Mayor, their cab driver, and millions of New Yorkers who live in the gridlocked Manhattan. Totally impossible to have a “high-speed, 2 hour car chase”. As if the NYPD doesn’t know how to handle paparazzi. You should read up because anyone believing this story is completely naive. (In their 24/7 filmed documentary they freak out about a single photographer on a Vespa-probably called him ahead of time. Harry seems genuinely rattled- Meghan seems to play him. A loving partner would try to calm their partner’s irrational fears.) This “chase” story on the same day as another report comes out about an intruder at their house. It really seems like a ploy because they are demanding that publicly-funded security services should be their private rent-a-cops in their UK lawsuit.
Fashion-wise regarding the outfit, as usual with Meghan, great coloring, nice hair, make-up, accessories yet something off in the execution. The cutout, misaligned fabric, lack of straps and too tight skirt give this dress a less favorable look on her. It is much better on the model.

The couple’s representatives claimed they had been pursued by photographers in a “near catastrophic car chase” through the streets of Manhattan. Police said the pursuit was relatively short, led to no injuries, collisions or arrests and warranted no further investigation. And a photo agency later contended it was Harry and Meghan’s security guards who acted recklessly.

@rosella and deadeggs (thank you for question). I’ve lived In Manhattan. The NYPD is very cautious about statements because of the dense population and not wanting to cause panic. They downplay as much as possible to retain the appearance of control. The fact that the three ended up sheltering at a police precinct before they left during a shift change so police cars could provide blocking is telling. There is absolutely no room on sidewalks for any motorcycle that would not endanger pedestrians—or in crowded lanes of traffic for close followers. This absolutely was a potential disaster.

    1. People on ebikes and scooters DO ride on the sidewalk to go around traffic. Some Doordashers etc. ride against traffic and do not stop a traffic lights etc. in Manhattan.

    2. John Miller who was the Chief intelligence officer of the NYPD has pieced together the following. When they arrived. the paps got their shots. They posed pictures with Gloria and the other winner during the event. When they left the paps got more shots... getting into the black car. At this point, the event is OVER.
In NYC people usually leave either to go home or to have a late dinner without the intrusion of carloads of hyenas (a gentleman's agreement)
They couple were driven crosstown to the highway in the 50's to reenter local neighborhood where they were staying further up on the island. To avoid the pursuit they went to 96th Street then turned around and went back to 23rd.. They then drove up to 34th street where they got stuck in traffic and the paps crossed the yellow lines into on coming traffic to catch up. In desperation, the police were asked to help so they went to the station. That is where the cab driver gets involved and the change of cars occurs. They returned to the station a second time because the cab was stuck behind a garbage truck and the paps approached on foot ebikes and scooters On the pavement . THAT is why it took almost 2 hours. In some of the pap pics the low wall around Central Park can be seen. That is Not near the highway.
It is all fun and games and endangering your own life 'for attention' (incredulous) until someone gets hurt in these unpredictable situations.
New York hosts the UN, sports games. conventions, concerts etc. It is an expensive place to visit and guests should not be subjected to this unacceptable behavior. It is very telling that the Mail and the Mirror took down the pictures once the couple spoke up.

Anyone can walk into an NY Police station. If they were in danger why would they tell them to hail a cab? Those present at the police station who were interviewed said it was nothing. All the paps but 4 left after the event, why, were they hired by someone connected to the Sussex team? In video of them in a cab their own security guy gets out of the cab (after the garbage truck that was stopped in front of them had moved on and is waving his arms around as is some other dude in a suit- why, it doesn’t seem the professional, security-minded approach. Right on cue their connections point to this as reason they should get on-demand security. Nothing about their trip makes sense until you start to consider a PR staging.

There also has to be a level of accountability from them too. Many celebrities stay in NY. You normally find their security detail do a re-con of the area and the building. All possible scenarios are played out. Celebrities are advised to use under ground parking entrances. The route out of the area is also mapped out. None of this seemed to have happened. Police resources deployed for unnecessary drama.
It would be interesting to see/hear of global celebrities who visit NY having experienced similarly.
Let’s hope the NYPD finish their investigation and lessons are learnt. It does look like a storm in a teacup.

@19:00 & 19:05 How easy it is to blame the victims for the recklessness of the pursuers!! H&M have visited NY on other occasions and this did not happen. Why now? Why are grown men(some with British accents) so desperate for a picture of them in a car when posed pictures were already taken? No one was pursued home from the Met gala in this manner last week. This is quite extreme for "irrelevant non working royals" who should be "stripped of their tytals"
They did access the venue through the parking garage next door upon arrival and walked out the front door at the end to give them their shots.
When the situation got out of control in the street and the paps were ignoring even the police sirens to move out of the way they went to the station to ask for help. It was the police who thought that putting them in a cab to blend with the hundreds of cabs in the area while sending the black car in another direction would act as a decoy. After 10 minutes the cabbie returned them to the station because the spotters on ebikes had figured out the plot and surrounded the cab, going right up to the windows and putting the flashes in their faces. The TMZ footage shows this.
According to John Miller of CNN they were even boxed in at a gas station when they tried to get off the highway. .
The authorities have to downplay the incident because NY hosts presidents, kings, and just the average tourist. No one wants to see business go to other cities if people feel they cannot be protected. This was nasty, unprincipled, behavior that turned a lovely evening for someone into something ugly. and sending them a message.
The thugs may have already won. It seems she will not attend the next event on her schedule. All of the world's problems are now solved (sarcasm).

    5. Anonymous21/5/23 13:48

      A. 05:04 Why now? The UK court case. The paps, even all but 4 here, didn’t pursue anyone- why? Were they paid? Why did they get out of their blacked out window SUV’s and into an NY cab after going into the police station? Actually in the video release the police behind their cab we’re heading to another call. After the garbage truck moves (which is why they were stuck, their cab stays there a few more minutes with empty road in front of them. When their cab does move and turns right the lit up police cars don’t follow them. Why did they leave the police station in a cab, drive around the block and go back into a police station? So your reasoning is that everyone else the NYPD, Mayor, cabbie, eyewitnesses interviewed, local unnamed police at the station they want in are all downplaying things for PR- got it. Or 2 people known for exaggerating and pulling stunts like this previously just did it again.

The obvious tan lines are there for all to see. The dress pattern is not in alignment. Another dress that swamps her. Especially the bottom half. A more fitted shaped bottom would have given the dress and her a beautiful shape.

  30. The dress does nothing for her. Her hair looks good. Gloria Steinem does not look well nor does her outfit. I don't know who the lady in red is. By the way, what's Meghan's vision???? I don't think she even knows.

@Kteach. Gloria is 89 years old!!. Have you no grandparents or people in this age group. This is next level, highlighting your perception of Gloria's health and is skirting the limits of elder abuse.
It is one thing to hate Meghan but this is completely, utterly unacceptable.
Meghan's vision is to ignore people who leech onto another family's misery by showing a disregard for the boundaries of common decency.

OMG. Is this so called mothers and grandmothers commenting? The hate here is mind blowing. It's ok not to like Meghan or anyone else, but why don't we just scroll to the next story instead of showing the world how awful the human race can be. PS not to self when we go low we only piss on ourself.
