  1. The Queen looks lovely, a pretty dress, that again suits the occasion.

Lovely dress on Camilla. The choice of colours (black and white, in a floral print) is perfect to make her stand out against stunning backgrounds of colourful flowers or greenery. Her shoes are quite appropriate as well.

... the colours of the dress are blue/gree/cream ... maybe you like to take a closer look ...

I think it's dark green (the right colour for a garden show) and white, not black and white.

I like Camilla best in her plain bright dresses. While the flower print is obviously appropriate, it’s a little too fussy for me. I like the shoes ( 🤞 the two tone horrors have been binned!)

Although it seems to be a beautiful fabric the dress is ruined by the big shoulder pads. It gives Camilla the look of a square block. The shoes are too casual to wear with a dress like this. Why doesn't she never wear a beautiful flowing pant and a tunica in a lovely plain fabric ? I'm convinced she would look 10 years younger.

    1. anonymous 22/5/23:45 "Shoes are too casual" ?? She is stomping around many many gardens etc. You don't expect her to wear pumps surely? She is a real gardner who loves to grovel in earth what she is wearing is totally practical and sensible. That is what real fashion is about, not those stilletto heeled pumps that some of the royals wear to garden parties on the lawn. The lawns of Buckingham palace are aereated for free each year by all those silly ladies wearing stillettos to a garden party.

I agree on the flowing pants and the tunic would give her a more youthful look. Irene

I obviously don't know Queen Camilla, but i never gotten the idea that she wants to look younger than her age. And I applaud that actitud
I think her choice of outfit is appropriated, we might not love all of it, but she did well

I have to disagree here, the dress is great in style and pattern for her. As for the shoes, they look like a spin off of espadrilles, a mature take perhaps so she doesn't have to wear wedges and ties? She's walking in gardens, so I find this outfit a wonderful choice, she looks nice.

@Anonymous 22/5/23 23:45 - " I'm convinced she would look 10 years younger." Oh yes, let's all look younger, what a noble aim to follow.

@Nalerina. There is a big choice of shoes between stilletto's and casual shoes.
There are nice loafers these days with a 5 cm heel that are often chosen by more mature women. Look at former queen now princess Beatrix of the Netherlands she wears always a kind of shoe adapted to her age and to difficult roads. Also the late Queen Elizabeth II wore classic shoes with a low heel or Queen Margrethe of Denmark. The shoes Camilla is wearing are nice to wear with pants not with the dresses she usually wears.
P.S. I find the hats during summer as silly as the stillettos to go to a garden party

Perfect floral dress for the Chelsea Flower Show! Queen Camilla looks good in this fresh and pretty dress. As we know she loves to garden so this event must be right up her alley--as well as King Charles, this event must be very enjoyable.

Often the photos of Camilla that are posted are not in her favour, unlike the overly homaged Kate, who is always perfect (boringly perfect as a doll). The last photo is an example of this. Irene

Well, Kate is very often perfect, well dressed, much younger and far more beautiful than Camilla.

  9. Nice dress, sensible shoes, the fabric is a nice nod towards the occasion. However, personally I prefer less harsh contrasts, I think softer colours (no black!) look better on her.

  10. I think that Camilla should have dressed up a little better for this historical and world renowned event. And now especially since she has the title of Queen of the United Kingdom..
Queen Elizabeth II was always dressed up to the 9’s for her visit to the
RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Chelsea Flower Show.
T'was always a joy to see her.
I agree with most of the positive comments about Camilla’s dress, but overall, her outfit looks a bit too casual and low key for the occasion.
In the first photo, the lady wearing the yellow outfit and hat looks more like a Queen.

  11. As you are expected to do quite a bit of walking at the CFS, and on uneven grounds sometimes, the shoes of QC are the right thing to wear. I am glad to see the tradition of the major royals visiting the CFS continued. The late queen hardly ever missed this event.

The lily of the valley print dress looks very nice on the queen. Shoes look comfy for being on your feet walking around. This is her go to style vs QE dress and coat, a good choice for her

Not a fan of the harsh colour contrast of the dress, and quite frankly, it seems too informal, as compared to what Queen Elizabeth would wear. The shoes look uncomfortable, thus the reason to sit and rest on the bench (and her comment about taking a rest.

@Anon 17:33 Cannot compare Elizabeth and Camilla. Firstly, Queen Elizabeth was a reigning monarch and dressed like one, Camilla isn't. Her husband King Charles is, and is therefore the more prominent personage, who needs to see and be seen. and she is aware of that Secondly, Queen Elizabeth was from a different era (or eras, since she reigned from the 1920s for 70 years until she was 97) of the way reigning queens dressed decades ago; Camilla is a modern-day member of the royal family, and dresses with a more modern, down-to-earth sensibility. I think that she is perfectly dressed for this event, head to toe.

The dress is a terrible cut; the pattern on the dress is okay, she needs bright colours. What was she thinking when she chose the shoes. The makeup is okay I love the pretty flowers (Tara)

    1. My guess would be that she chose comfort over style. A very reasonable thing to do at this event.

The dress and shoes are far too casual for this important occasion. You would never have seen Queen Elizabeth in such casual attire, even at her advanced age (God rest her soul). Edwina
