Beautiful suit, hat, and lovely pearls on an equally lovely Empress.

missy, why refer to the ladies as flight attendants? Their customs may not be what you are used to, but to be unkind shows that you have a lack of personal respect for other customs and traditions.

Anton 17:16 why is that unkind. This has nothing To do with tradition… They look like flight attendants. It’s about time Japanese protocol let these people ( men and women) show some individuality!

As usual; great tailoring, boring, dated styling. Rinse and repeat.
Sometimes I really wonder, one, two hundred years from now will the women of the royal house still be wearing these styles? Will they arrive on Mars for a n official visit with this underneath their space suits?

@ Anonymous 18:34. By the time we will be able to travel to Mars maybe there will be no Emperors or Kings anymore. The fact that the royal houses have to shrink already what will be left in 100 years. Since we are living in a world that changes every day now maybe there will be quite some different kind of world leaders: robots for example ? By then I will be dead for a long time.

Boring fashion and sorry all those mouthcaps... time to get rid of them. I understand that the Japanese royals are sticked to lots of traditions. But sorry it's time to modernise.

Not boring, each jacket is different, superb fabric and tailoring. Its all in the details. It is no different than when QE wore coat over dress. Perhaps it is to not draw attention to themselves but rather to the cause.

How many decades old is this story? Please upload your knowledge.
When the Meghan story was a sensation, and some in the media tried to lead the public to believe that the British Royal Family is racist, you would easily believe that story.
Forces that wanted to destroy the Japanese imperial family ran a similar campaign decades ago using foreign media. They even use the same method of making big headlines on a day of celebration for the line of succession and its family.
So from the beginning of the British uproar, no one in Japan believed that story.
But they will have negative campaigns again and again.

Beautifully tailored suit for the Empress--do wish she'd choose another style of hat but she still looks lovely. Her pearls are gorgeous!

    2. Janet,
I actually liked her hat today I thought it was wildly flamboyant compared to the other ladies. At any rate it could past muster in 2023.Those pearls are to die for and i am not even a pearl person. The lustre on them is incredible but maybe it is just the light catching them today.

Very strange indeed, no signatures, silly, mostly negative remarks about the Japanese Imperial Court. Why should they “modernise”? Abandon their dignity
and traditions by flashing long slits, muscular bodies, bare backs, plunging necklines.

On 1 April this year, the Imperial Household Agency set up a Public Relations Office to actively disseminate correct information on its official website and SNS and hired a female elite from the Metropolitan Police as its head. It was a surprising appointment as she was an expert in national security.
According to reports, an investigation into websites and operating companies spreading malicious and false stories led to the suspicion of overseas organizations because of dummy companies and foreign sites' servers.

Many Japanese people rejected the Japanese-language SNS disparaged the Crown Prince and Princess with one voice at the coronation ceremony in the UK. Many accounts criticized the natural draping of the silk fabric of CP Kiko's kimono, calling it "wrinkled.
If we try to make a drape with a stiff fabric, it will be wrinkled, but Japanese people, who know the smoothness and weight of kimono silk with their bodies, would never make such a ridiculous judgment.

It is how Japan's Imperial Family continued to exist for more than 2000 years, respected and protected by the people.
Visitors to the Kyoto Imperial Palace will be surprised to find that the palace does not have sturdy walls. The Imperial Family cared for the people, and the people respected them, who connected to the Japanese gods. There was no need for such a wall.
Governments of the time feared being attacked by the Japanese people if they disgraced and abolished the court.
That is why 'shoguns' of ancient times, the prime ministers of present times, and even GHQ, which ruled Japan for a time, have shown respect and protected them.

As long as this relationship continues, Japan's court is not damaged. If you are worried about what happens after moving to Mars, you should worry about The Family, which has a low approval rating.

    1. I spoke to a flight attendant who was in uniform one day about her job etc.
She very politely pointed out to me that she wasn't a flight attendant but a pilot on long haul flights with Swiss Air.
For two weeks after, I didn't have to wear blusher.
But that's another non fashion story for another day.

The way they dress has nothing to do with tradition. They adopted the style women wore in Western Europe, USA and maybe also in Japan during the 60tees. One could say they stick to the fashion of that period (except for the hats which I never saw wearing anybody else than the female members of the Imperial Family).
