Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited the Future Library Forest

Crown Princess Mette-Marit visited the Future Library Forest in Nordmarka together with authors Judith Schalansky and Ocean Vuong. The Future Library (Framtidsbiblioteket) is a public project aiming to collect an original work by a popular writer every year from 2014 to 2114. The works will remain unread and unpublished until 2114.

1000 trees were planted for the project in the Nordmarka forest before the start of the project. 100 manuscripts will be printed in limited edition anthologies using paper made from these planted trees. The art project was created by Scottish artist Katie Paterson.

The Crown Princess attended the 9th handover ceremony of the manuscripts to the Future Library. After the ceremony, the authors took their manuscripts to the quiet room on the 5th floor in Deichman Library, where they will be kept until 2114.
