  1. The skirt, while serviceable, is awful. The trainers make it worse. A practical outfit required for this outing but a pair of comfortable trousers might have looked better Like the evening dress.

The runners/trainers were a good choice, since she's walking on the soft earth/grass (maybe an occasional muddy spot) in a humid climate. She looks fine for the outdoors walkabout. Very nice flowy outfit for the evening indoors. |Melanie|

    2. I like very much the skirt, original, fitting well, and why not the trainers for this visit.

  3. The daytime ensemble works well, it looks great. The evening silk gown is very pretty and feminine looking, glides as she walks. Her cardigan I think that is what she is wearing in this case is appropriate. Her choice of jewels the necklace especially, different and interesting. A very nice appearance.

Two great choices for very different events. Mary has worn this skirt and blouse (or one similar) on several different occasions around the world, often with her work with the UN. Her evening choice is so pretty, quite elegant, and she looks so lovely in it--it flows beautifully as she moves. Her simple hairstyle and jewelry allow the dress to be front and center. Love the little cardigan--it appears to have a bit of a shimmer to it making it perfect for an evening occasion. I'm also glad she added the belt.

Must agree with AnnieM that the trainers look awful with this skirt. Are there no reasonably comfortable walking shoes that are more flattering with a skirt than clunky trainers? I think there are. Love the dreamy evening look, especially the floaty skirt — although I think the large brown shape across the bodice detracts from the overall effect somewhat.

I think the casual look is beautiful. I love the skirt together with the shirt and shoes. Looks comfortable, and perfectly well put together for this occasion.

Nothing much to say about the daytime outfit. Nice and practical. The evening dress looks good on her and the choice of jewellery is excellent.

  14. Skirt, blouse, shoes, good choice for the day event.
The evening gown, perfect for a tropical island formal evening event.
Low key sophistication. Well done Princess Mary.
p.s. don’t forget you have to be back in Europe in just over one week’s time for the Coronation.

    I love both outfits.
Mary wore this skirt once before on another UN mission last year (to Kenya, perhaps?) and it looked good then. Sometimes practicality is more important than fashion style, and when running shoes/trainers provide firm, secure and comfortable footing on uneven rural surfaces, that's the way to go - and she has. (Note: Business and office working women in NA and Canada who have long commutes , trips on metro trains and buses, and fast walks on busy streets to get to work often wear running shoes with their smart suits until they get to their offices in the skyscrapers).
Mary's evening attire is pure, simple, elegance and works perfectly for the event she is attending.

Love the second dress but don’t like that it drags on the ground.

Is it just me or does the pattern on the dress include the image of a nude person, with the brown on the bodice the persons hair

I think the print is meant to be Greek or Roman statuary. Sort of like nymphs. There are two figures at least. I don't think that it is immodest, if you were implying that.

It's part of a very famous Renaissance painting "La Primavera" by Sandro Botticelli. The figure in the gown is one of the Three Graces from the painting.

  19. Lovely, suitable ensemble for the day. The khaki skirt and the white shirt look crisp and comfortable and Mary's hair looks lovely taken back. The evening outfit and necklace is very pretty and flattering too.
