The dress has a lovely silhouette but is too long. The length on the model is preferable.

    1. I agree, though I would prefer it even shorter than on the model. A ruffle of 10cm width would suffice.

Beautiful! I like the coat, the dress, the hairstyle, ... IP

    1. I agree. She looks absolutely lovely.

    2. Agree with the usual caveat that I wish the dress was shorter. The lady in the beautiful red dress has got it right; the lady in the black skirt in the last question has gone for far too short, which is not at all flattering. No matter the length of the dress, Sophie looks great these days

  3. Je suis agréablement surprise par Sophie qui porte un manteau près du corps dont la légèreté avantage sa silhouette ; il semble quand même un peu trop long comme d'ailleurs sa robe à l'élégant décolleté en V !

  4. Ah, how I love a nice corduroy dress! Lovely colour as well.

Beautiful blue color. I would be very cold in such a deep v-neck. I find the dress more of a dinner dress, not something for a businesslike occasion as this.
Everything she wears is always too long. Is she a short person? And why not have things altered to fit better. I am sure the model is tall but I think the length is better on her. Not so overwhelming.

I don't care much for the dress, but my God! that coat is beautiful.

    1. Agree 100% Love the coat, the dress is way to 1980's and that is a decade that fashion really doesn't need to revisit in my opinion.

    LOVE her hair like this!

Love Sophie's new hairstyle, it's fun, flirty, youthful & fresh. Looks great on her! Dress is a bit dowdy looking even with the low v-neck, the tailored coat doesn't really match and is shorter than the dress. A no-no in this instance. S.M.

I wonder why Prince Edward never accompanies her?

Her husband Prince Edward has his own obligations and meetings - they are just not written about, because: 1. he is a man and men's fashion is not much discussed in social columns, 2. He avoids scandals, does not gossip, does not complain and does not whine. 3. He does his work quietly, without fanfare.
Decent people don't fill the pages of newspapers.
Last year he had more meetings than his wife, although it's no contest.
He goes to DofE (Duke of Edinbourgh Award) committee meetings alone and always prepared. I had the honor of meeting him twice while working on the DofE.
Sophie - in my opinion, this is how a member (married into) of the royal family should behave. Beautiful lady.

That still doesn't address the question about them having joint engagements. It is very rare and I think the reactions would be very positive. I appreciate the fact that you have a lot of personal feelings and opinions that did come through in your response, but I have wondered the same thing.

    3. @MJT : We can wonder the same thing for Princess Mary and Prince Frederik.
Oh, and also the King and Queen of the Netherlands.

Countess Sophie looks lovely. The coat is beautiful. Unfortunately it is shorter than the dress which is too long. The dress would have been really beautiful in another fabric .f. ex. "crèpe de laine" (don't know it in English). The blue color suits the Countess very well. Her hair is beautifully done. She looks so young on these photos. Marcella

The dress does nothing for me. I am not sure what kind of material is used, but the sleeves and ruffled skirt doesn't go well. I do like the lady 's red dress in the photo , easier on the eye than Sophie's.

Great coat, at the very first photo it looks more purple than the original brown one, don't you think? I'm not so happy with the dress, there is too much going on IMO. And apart of the clothes I'm proud to see my professor (I'm Polish and lawyer as well) as a prezydent of the ICC!

Nice dresses for her overseas tour. Her hair looked really good. Today's dress was nice, but the black blazer did not match. css

I like the dress, but not for the setting. Ruffles at The Hague just seems wrong. A silhouette that's a touch more business like maybe?

Love her coat and dress--what a beautiful shade of blue for Sophie. Her hair looks fabulous--great cut and color and plenty of volume.

  20. It was just brought to my attention that Sophie CoW also met with Princess Mabel of Orange-Nassau at this event. There are pictures of the meeting out there. Just saying.
