    QS: Standard 'uniform'.
CPV: Sombre classic dark navy ensemble. Simple jewellery and accessories. Perfect for the occasion.
PS: Yet another same old same old ugly Vampire's Wife dress. The most unimaginative design formular. You can spot these eyesores from miles away. Pantyhose too light and shiny. She favours Stinaa J's orthopedic pumps - perhaps bc of the platforms as she is very short - but they are not the best looking heels. Hair and make-up appropriately subdued. Amy

    1. I actually quite like the Vampire´s Wife dress. Nice material, nice colour, good fit. And most of all, I think it was a great choice *because* of its design as it has an Eastern European vibe about it. Also, I think it was a good call to reduce the massive ruffle on the original design to a short hem-detail echoing the sleeves. I like the look. (But I agree about the too light tights.)

To Vanessa: Why do you think Sofie's dress "has an Eastern European vibe"? I don't think there is anything like it in fashion. I am from Central Europe, in the east, we have a border with Ukraine, and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees live here. From a fashion point of view, fashion in our area is exactly the same as in the west of the continent, I must assure you.
The brand "Vampire's Wife dress" is definitely not popular in Eastern Europe, as is the massive ruffle. Traditional national costumes have these elements, but they are not transferred to ordinary outfits or forrmal fashion or casual fashion. Swedes also do not make fashion according to their national costumes, which are very similar to those of Eastern Europe. This is just for general information.

This particular dress fits Sofia very well and is appropriate for a church service. The haircut is not the best.

I think it's admirable how Sofia handled being married into royalty. She does his charity work without unnecessary drama and with dignity. Likewise her husband Prince Carlf Philip - although he was a Swedish "Spare" for a long time, compared to the British "Spare" the Swedish Prince is brilliant. This comparison just forces attention.

    3. I rather like the VW dress of Sofia s well. A nice global look for her; Qn S ok as usual, and Victoria, two days in raw of old-fashioned and ageing look for her, a pity, without commenting the hair style...

Replying to Stephanie's post about PCP&PS and her comparison with H&M. The situation of the Swedish "Spare" and his wife is totally different from that of Harry and Meghan. In the Swedish royal family CP is not the only "spare" but there is Madeleine, too, which already makes a big difference. It changes the family dynamics a lot. The Swedish royal family is also a much more united family unit. They don't compete with each other on the media front , whereas in the UK, the odd symbiosis between the RF and the tabloids creates all kinds of interrelational tensions between the different palaces. Furthermore, Sofia was never felt as a threat to the other members of the Swedish RF, even though she has similar kind of natural talent as Meghan has in connecting with people. Meghan's talent and initial popularity, however, was felt as a threat, which then in the end resulted in H&M leaving, which really was a loss for the British RF. And last but not least, Sofia is Swedish and white, she comes from a similar cultural background as the other family members, which has made it easier for the public to accept her, whereas Meghan's background made her an easy target for racially motivated attacks.

To B: I think you are wrong. You claim: "IN the Swedish royal family CP is not the only "spare" like Harry in the British royal family. I have to correct you: There are other spares in the British royal family too: Queen Elizabeth II had 4 children, all of them, including children are in line of succession.
      2. Maybe the British tabloid is more attacking than the Swedish tabloid, the British tabloid really uses the mistakes that the British Spare made a lot.
      3. Don't drag race into everything. The vast majority of the public did not see it as a problem at all.
      4. Appalling public attacks on own brother, own father, pulling out intimate private details - all this is so low, undignified, ungentlemanly.

    8. To Stephanie:
You answered that question yourself. The Eastern European vibe I´m feeling with this dress is of course not related to the brand but to the dress itself. I don´t care what the brand stands for, or whether it is popular; I explicitly stated that it is the design of this very dress that gives me that vibe. The shape of the dress is reminiscent of traditional East European costumes, the tight bodice, puffed sleeves and flared skirt are elements found in both Ukrainian and Russian folk dresses. The ribbon and hem detail in the skirt and in the sleeves also remind me of Eastern Europe folk dresses which often feature horizontal embellishment of the same kind. I know that modern Eastern European women don´t wear those costumes on a day-to-day basis, but that is irrelevant. A regional vibe is always connected to the specifics of traditional clothing rather than modern international fare that is very similar almost everywhere these days.

      To B.
By and large, people respond to people´s actions, not to people´s identity, even though media and identity politics try to make everything about gender, race, religion or other "markers" to brand entire groups as good or bad.
While there are certainly differences in family dynamics between the royal families of Sweden and Britain, I think that both Sofia and Meghan were judged for what they did, and not for who they are. Sofia had a wild past and was criticized for it, and rightly so. She did some things in her youth that are not acceptable for someone who is meant to represent the nation. She has changed though, and has since adopted a way that is dignified and commendable. As a princess, she hasn´t hurt or offended anyone, neither in her family nor in the country. As a result, she is now liked and respected. It doesn´t erase her past, but it shows maturing, a sense of responsibility and understanding of her role.
Meghan on the other hand was liked and respected initially. She had a career, married a prince everyone wanted to see happy. She has since said and done a number of things that are unacceptable and have caused irritation, offense and conflict. As a result, the initial support for her has dropped and instead turned into criticism, and rightly so. And none of it has anything to do with her skin colour or her cultural background.
There are numerous examples of international, intercultural, interracial royal marriages that were readily accepted by the population. The Dutch for example, embraced Maxima and never had any issues with her latina background and never felt threatened by her talents and popularity. Popularity means that someone is well liked, so Meghan can´t have been popular and seen as a threat at the same time. That´s absurd. Meghan is disliked for one reason only, and that is her manipulative, agenda-pushing, attention-seeking personality.

To Vanessa again: I understand you, but I want to give you a friendly advice that your words "The Eastern European vibe" may cause a misunderstanding. In your second post in the discussion, you said that... the dress is reminiscent of traditional East European costumes... That is much more accurate expresion. Some phrases and word combinations have completely different (more political) connotations in our geographical space.

I really like your answer to "B" - I think exactly the same.

And added to that it's said the Silvia has had cosmetic surgeries, I don't know, but people in the knowing says so. And why not? I could think that you could get tired of seeing yourself in papers and magazines all the time and then people make remarks about how you age........it's complicated and we live in the 2020's.......Ac

    6. Queen Silvia has never smoked, that's the main reason to look younger despite the surgeries.

    7. Putting the possibility of plastic surgery to one side, may I say that Camilla is/has been an outdoor girl with a life of horses and hounds.
I think her preoccupation has been the animals and not what is happening to her skin. Cold winter winds, hot dry summer weather etc.
Queen Silvia has probably lived more of her life indoors and spent some time and money on nourishing her skin. One makes one’s choice.

More than anything else, being a smoker has aged Camilla. No cosmetic touch ups can reverse the damage done by decades of smoking. Hats and sunscreen can protect from the damage the sun does, not lifestyle.

All 3 Swedish ladies look so good here. Silvia is lovely in her classic and elegant suit. Victoria looks great in her somber navy blue dress and jacket--her simple pearl earrings are her only jewelry helps highlight the seriousness of the event in my opinion. Sofia looks wonderful in her navy dress. Not sure about the choice of courderoy for dress fabric but this seems to be the latest choice from the Vampire's Wife. I usually struggle to appreciate the Vampire's Wife designs but this one is very flattering to Sofia. Hope King CG is feeling well and on his way to a full and speedy recovery.

Especially in bright colours and shiny fabrics. This dark coloured corduroy one, with a rather smaller ruffle, looks vaguely better. The fit is good on Sophia.

If you look at Queen Sylvia closely and especially her profile, you can tell that she has resorted to cosmetic surgery. In my opinion, this does not make her look younger because her face looks twisted and unnatural, plus the harshly dyed hair. Although Camilla is very wrinkled, probably from smoking and excessive sun exposure, you can still guess her true age because other factors count, like facial expression etc. I prefer Camilla‘s natural approach.
