King Willem-Alexander, Maxima and Amalia's visit to Sint Maarten, 1st day

On February 6, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Crown Princess Amalia took a walk along the Color Me SXM murals in Philipsburg. These murals were designed to brighten up Philipsburg, as many of the town’s buildings are still vacant or damaged following the hurricane Irma. The day of the royal family concluded with lively displays of St Maarten’s culture along a walking route and they then attended a concert on the Boardwalk.

Maxima is really stunning in simple black and white. Elegant, chique, regal. She really should wear often "less-is-more" clothes and then her beauty would come out so much better. Hair-do perfect as well. Did she lose weight? Amalia again not the best outfit for her shape and age. She could look so much better, cause she has such a lovely face. She deserves it

Queen Maxima looks beautiful, but she definitely should wear a better bra !!

The issue isn't the bra, it's the fact that the top is too tight across the bust & hence the top part gets pushed up & the whole thing looks dreadful/uncomfortable. Her bodices are usually too tight (Mathilde has the same issue). Perhaps she should wear clothes that actually fit properly. |Melanie|

  4. I really like Amalia's dress and earrings here. She just looks so uncomfortable and stressed out most of the time, I wish her situation in the Netherlands were better. I wouldn't wish this kind of fear and stress on my worst enemy, let alone a 19-year-old teenage girl like Amalia.

    1. Its really too bad her life is mapped out for her. Hopefully she comes into her role. She'll gain confidence in time. She's lucky she has both parents to guide her. She's a beautiful young women.

    2. As with yesterday's photos, I think Princess Amalia is looking much more relaxed. The dress is okay but still looks more like a dress for someone older. Love the photos of her hugging one of the children and talking to the one attached to her mother. Queen Maxima looks fab. I'm mesmerised by how good her hair looks.

    Q. Max looks fabulous here - interesting top, well cut trousers, and gorgeous jewelry. Wow! CP Amalia’s dress fits well but I think the huge earrings clash with her handbag and detract from the overall look. (V.M.)

Maxima looks great. Her sleeveless blouse shows off her toned arms, and those pants were good choice. Her hair are sleek and shiny. Her earrings and brooch...wow, amazing.
I wish her daughter's hair were also up. This thick mane of hair on her shoulders make her look heavier. Otherwise, she looks also great!

  7. Maxima's style continues to be amazing on this tour, even the hair is fabulous. the jewellery looks expensive for this occasion. Amalia looks great, wearing the same dress Eléonore, Princess of Belgium had on x-mas concert

Queen Maxima’s top is beautiful bur way too tight. P Amalia looks good in these stronger colors. I have general objections to puffed sleeves and would have liked a yellow handbag but in all she looks good.

  10. Maxima's top is a bit too sophisticated, Amalia's dress is fine, just the print should be a bit more "youthful".

  11. Mi piace moltissimo Maxima e la sua passione per i gioielli è nota, ma in questa occasione ha decisamente esagerato.
Passi la spilla, ma quegli orecchini pendenti sono esageratamente importanti per un impegno diurno.

Amalia looks well dressed today, except for the over the top large earrings, and the green purse. Maxima: top too tight, needs better undergarments and why wear such elaborate jewelry in a situation that calls for casual dress.

Queen Maxima looks wonderful, love her outfit, although a tad overdressed for the occasion..?

I totally agree that both mother and daughter are dressed perfectly on this occasion.
Rather than pass judgement based on mere photos, I've been watching the videos on YT and IG of all three of them interacting, dancing and singing with the people - and especially the cute children - of SXM, and they are very charming. Maxima is a warm and natural person in this role and you can see that Amalia is gradually relaxing and getting the hang of it too. I'm looking forward to the rest of their time in SXM and their visits to the very nearby islands of Saba (a natural paradise) and Statia (St. Eustatius), both of which are visible on the horizon from the beautiful beaches of SXM.

  15. It’s a 'like’ for Princess Amalia’s dress. Light and airy with the colourful flower print on the dark background of the fabric. In the crowd, she is almost lost amongst the multitude of colours.
I think Queen Maxima has chosen a top so that she can show off her suntan. Love the earrings on both mum and daughter.
I hope St Maarten has finally recovered with life back to normal after it was hit by the terrible cyclone in 2017.

Great outfit for Queen Maxima, funny she always dresses better than her daughter who seems to still find her style. Dress is ok though colour and style are a bit old for the young lady but the large yellow earrings unfortunately ruin the look ☹️ what a great weather they have over there!

This might be the first time I fully like both looks. The dress suits Amalia well and I'm happy she finally chose a darker colour - the light yellows and blues she seems to like unfortunately wash her out a bit. This is much better and the yellow earrings are a fun touch. Maxima looks super elegant and I really like the classic white/blue combo and the cut of the blouse. Not sure how well the two ladies' outfits actually go together, but then again Amalia is probably uncomfortable enough, no need to add more layers of formal clothes to it in order to match her glam mother.

  18. Fabulous outfit for Queen Maxima. The Navy pants combined with the unusual blouse look wonderful. Love her shoe and bag color. The earrings are brooch are gorgeous. Princess Amalia looks beautiful, this dress is very becoming on her. In this instance, I love how she is using a contrasting color for her bag, the green shade is lovely.

Maxima looks marvelous--her outfit is good except for the too-tight top and silliness of the way too big bow. Her hair and jewelry are fabulous. Amalia looks wonderful--this dress might be her best so far. I agree the print is a bit aging for her but she still looks great. I think she's doing a great job--I keep thinking this must be a challenge for any 19 yr old. I am introverted and rather shy--at 19 this would have been pure misery for me. Not sure how she can stand the heat and humidity of the tropics with her hair down but she really seems to handle it.
