I like Victoria’s cozy pink hat! But no matter how she is dressed, I admire her positive and determined spirit in every appearance. I tend to look first at her face because she is so present and reactive. This is different than some others.

I really agree with you. I saw the traditional end of year program on Swedish television about the royal family, and Victoria is so impressing. She is extremely well prepared before each event she is attending, she is interested and full of energy. A wonderful representative for the the royal family.

A photo op to take the sting out of the remark resently made by the King that he still resents the change in succession law making Viktoria the heir and crown princess. Ladyofthemanor

    1. From what I understand, the king never expressed resentment that Victoria became the heir; he expressed resentment over the change being made retrospectively, meaning that the change affected the children already born and resulting in a reshuffling of their titles. He said that that should never occur. He never had any issues with Victoria, or her being the crown princess, or the change to primogeniture as such.

Vanessa, the law was not retrospective. It had already been passed befor Carl Philip was born but had to be ratified by the parliament after another general election. If you still resent that your second child, a boy, was not allowed to be crownprince then it reflects very poorly on you as a person and makes us wonder. It is not the first time he has controversial opinions. Ladyofthemanor

    4. The law may well have been passed before but didn´t come into effect until after Victoria and Carl Philip were born. So it did affect them retrospectively and stripped Carl Philip of the crown prince title. The King says that that should never happen (a title being taken from someone and granted to someone else), but he never expressed that he favours his son over his daughter. From what I understand, the King and Queen gave all possible support to Victoria to prepare her for her role thus showing full support not only for her as a person but also for the decision made regarding the line of succession. I remember them recognising that the role as heir and eventually regent is more difficult for a woman (and I agree), but that they still had full confidence in Victoria to master her role.
At the time, when the changes were made in Sweden, comparisons were drawn to Norway - which passed the same sort of legislation but decided to NOT make it affect the current generation of heirs, meaning that Haakon remained the crown prince despite having an older sister.
Carl-Gustaf expressed repeatedly that that is how it should have been done is Sweden as well.
He is allowed to have controversial opinions, and I for one commend him for speaking up.
(On a side note - I think that both countries are better off with the heir that they have, and I´m sure that both Märtha-Louise and Carl-Philip are happy to have been spared the burden).

Dont understand why this King after a long life never learn that some thoughts should stay in the head.
