Kate looks amazing. She is on a roll! Normally I would be agitating for an updo with that gown and tiara, but the slightly 60's hair with a bit of height at the crown is just perfect. The tiara is gorgeous, but didn't she receive some rubies from her father-in-law as a wedding gift? I only ever remember seeing them once, with a black velvet evening gown.

Both ladies look wonderful. I love all of the sapphires on Q. Camilla against this dark, relatively simple gown. Superb!
    P. Catherine’s gown is a gorgeous colour for her and she’s chosen a lovely tiara and earrings. I think her long hair is nice for a change but I miss seeing one of her excellent updos. (V.M.)

Could it be possible he is modernizing in his own way?

Perhaps William did not want to copy Charles (whose "garter leg" doesn't show properly in the photo on this site).

Six photos de Kate - Que sera-t-il quand elle sera reine. Il est malheureux que l'attention ne soit pas davantage porté sur le roi Charles III et sa reine.

I like Camilla's dress but the jewels look a bit over done. I like Kate's dress ;the eye makeup is a bit much, and the bouffant hair is a bit flat on top. William looks dapper.(Tara)

I agree about Camilla's jewels. When the country is in a financial crisis, the display of such wealth seems tone deaf. I thought wearing suites of jewelry might have ended with the Queen. I think Kate's makeup is fine. This is an evening event. That is what is called for.

Not sure why it isn't possible to wear jewels you already own. If they had just been and bought them I could why it might be problematic.

That's a bit of an odd statement. They can stop buying new gowns and certainly new jewellery, but why not use the ones you already have? I mean, we (aka the "normal" people) know they have these gems in the vault, so it doesn't really matter if they give them a spin every once in a while or leave them to rot. I have to save money like crazy right now, but that doesn't mean I can't wear my grandmother's gold necklace or the only pair of diamond earrings I've owned since I was 18...

    4. Agree with Anon 10 55. It's a formal event calling for gorgeous jewellery. We all know it exists so what benefit in hiding it away? Many people who could never afford such things, including me!, get great pleasure from seeing others wear it.

    5. I also agree about Camilla's jewels, ie she looks over done. But they exist so it is normal that they are worn, but couldn't they be modernised, particularly by lightening them somehow, to look more modern. I think the jewels should follow somewhat trends while keeping their prestige.

  9. Lovely tiara on Catherine. Nice to this designer back in her style, she always looks beautiful in these designs. Queen consort looks divine, blue has been a favourite color for her this season.
I suppose the rule now at Buckingham palace is not ask people where they are from. A shame, most people around the world love to talk about their heritage.

    1. Good point @missy. The royals must feel like they're now walking on thin ice when they talk to their guest's about their nationality/background.
Camilla seems to be a bit top heavy with her jewelry.

  12. The Queen Consort's Sapphire's look exceeding good with this dark gown, the Sapphire colors are extraordinary. I love the Sapphire pendant attached to the necklace. Her gown looks lovely, suits her well.
The Princess of Wales looks splendid. The Lotus tiara looks wonderful, what a stunning tiara. The placement with her free-flowing hair looks marvellous. I love this style for a change as opposed to her up styles. The diamond earrings look great and are just the right size. Lovely to see the art deco diamond brooch attached to her order sash. The Jenny Packham gown is a masterpiece. The slight train at the back, so elegant. The embellishments and beading are crafted beautifully. The color is stunning, suits her beautifully. Her makeup looked especially good at this event. Both Royal ladies beautifully attired.

  14. Just gorgeous, both of the ladies.
I think the sapphires suit Camilla mightily and Kates ensemble is simply perfection.
I have a soft spot for the Lotus and i think for a change the long hair is a wonderful choice.

  15. Superbes toutes les deux ; le bleu des saphirs et de la robe est mis en valeur par Camilla et je trouve que le diadème de Kate va à merveille sur ses cheveux longs -même que peut-être très légèrement rafraîchis- en prévision de futurs chignons !

Princess of Wales - perfection! Simply beautiful. The epitome of elegance.
Camilla - also amazing. Do you know what's most surprising to me?" that Camila - now a woman of advanced senior age can look so elegant. She was never considered a typical beautiful woman (especially during Diana's lifetime), but during her time in the royal family she showed a great sense of fashion and elegance. Of course, it's also thanks to the advisors. But even choosing a good stylist is difficult, not all royal ladies can do it - for example - I'll be honest - Queen Maxima from the Netherlands or Mathilde from Belgium don't often know it. So bravo, Camilla.

When I saw Catherine my reaction was Wow ! From hair ! Her make up ! The dress is perfection ! And we were treated to the Lotus tiara ! I’m glad she wore her hair down, it suited the over all look.
Catherine of late has certainly found her mojo !
Camilla too looks splendid in blue.

  20. The Diplomatic Reception had been a most glamorous event for ages and continues just to still be most glittering. It calls for big jewellery; everybody at that event expects the royal ladies to show up all decked out. There's nothing wrong with Queen Camilla wearing that sapphire suite. It seems a new favourite of hers, maybe because the tiara is a littler lighter and not so heavy as was the Greville Honeycomb Tiara. It might be the reason she chose for the second time in a row to don it. I also like that the Princess of Wales seized the opportunity to shine yet again in the Lotus Flower Tiara, which also seems less heavy than the QM's Lovers Knot. This time the navy blue dress of QC matches much better the sapphires and the Order of the Garter sash than the royalblue Bruce Oldfield number recently did. Well done, all of them.

Packham at her best! What a superb red dress, so very very stylish and elegant esp. too cause Kate is so tall. Camilla looks very regal, a simple dark dress with fantastic jewelry.

Catherine is beautiful indeed. However most of the times I don’t like her hairstyle when she’s wearing a tiara. This particular hairstyle is a miss for me, I think the tiara is just placed too low the hairstyle is not suitable.

I seem to be in the minority, but I don't like Catherine's ensemble. The dress is nice and she wears it with magnificent elegance, but somehow it doesn't match well with the tiara and diamond jewellery - I think a tiara with coloured stones or even pearls would have been less... harsh in contrast? I also wish Catherine would've put her hair up, it's overpowering the poor Lotus tiara, which shouldn't sit so close to the hairline either... So no, not the biggest fan.

Camilla however knocks it out of the park for me. The dress is beautiful and she really wears those big shiny rocks so well. I'm really glad she gets to give them a spin more often now!
