British Royal Family attended 2022 Christmas Day church service

Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Countess of Wessex, Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, Zara Tindall

On December 25, the British Royal Family gathered at St Mary Magdalene Church near Sandringham for the traditional Christmas Day church service. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the late Queen’s health problems, the royal family hadn’t been able to attend this morning service in Sandringham for three years.

How cam anyone overlook all these lies about Harry?
When Diana was killed a lot of people had morals - what happened to you?

      Delete
    4. Overlook what about Prince Andrew - you do know the man has been found guilty of absolutely nothing apart from incredibly poor taste in friends and living beyond his means? He has lost all his public roles and had it made clear there is no way back to any public role. Christmas is a Christian festival - he attended Church with his family as he is entitled to do - and took no part in any interaction with members of the public.

What lies about Harry? The ones that Harry says have been told - we have only heard one side. And will only ever hear one side. Which he knows... The man who has no compunction about the usage of a clips from an interview that his mother was tricked into giving and deeply regretted doing afterwards.

What morals did we all have when Diana was killed? Different times without the wide-ranging social media we have nowadays - people haven't changed. Just more people are able to share their unformed opinions based on whichever version they have decided to believe.

And morals aren't needed to know that people who wear seat belts are more likely to survive car crashes caused by drunk drivers. Just ask the bodyguard.

  13. Great to see the tradition return this year & the whole family is out and about. I think everybody looks good and appropriate for the occasion, with Catherine knocking it out of the park again. I also really love Zara's outfit. Not the biggest fan of Camilla's hat (I wish it had feathers instead of these woolly sling bits) and her brooch looks a bit like a name tag, but the colour she chose is perfect! And I wish they had given little Louis some proper trousers. I get it's traditional, but none of the other small boys wear shorts and it's awfully cold these days.

    1. I agree with your last sentence about the shorts for little boys. And then that coat in which Prince Louis looks like a little girl. I any other European country little boys are dressed like that. I remember my cousin once had a coat like that and I am 75 now. Since then little boys in my country don't wear shorts any more during winter.

    3. It has nothing to with protocol. If they wanted to put him in trousers they could. It's a class thing - silly, chilly but definitely not obligatory. And actually Louis doesn't seem uncomfortable and no, he doesn't look like a girl.

  14. Considering that Fergie wore her 'plum pudding' hat for this walk one Christmas (I loved that hat), I'm now sure that some royals use this opportunity to take the micky out of us on this occasion every year. Camilla and Beatrice have succeeded in that respect with me this year. The rest of them are all as predictable as ever.

Where is the Duchess of York (Fergy)? I thought she'd been invited by King Charles III ?

    2. Martha, there is also no sign of Mia Tindall so I wondered if she was at home with her grandmother. Deadeggs, I believe Sarah, Duchess of Yoir was invited to Sandringham for lunch but probably wasn't there for this event> There's never been former partners before!

Love that Edo's son was included this year. Louise looks lovely--would like to see more of her hat and outfit. Queen Camilla is wearing a beautiful shade of blue and a very smart hat except I wish the plume had not attached across the hat--marvelous color for her. I could go on for each person but suffice it to say--everyone looked great in their Christmas Day best!

I am perplexed that everyone gushes over the POW's attire, warm boots, leather gloves, hat , long coat. Yet, she let's her youngest child go out in very cold weather without long pants and risk catching a cold. All for what ? Tradition? If Meghan had done that, the British press would have been up in arms and so would most of this site's readers. It's baffling! Actually I liked Sophie's attire best. And Beatrice has a chic style these days. And Wolfie looked so adorable and appropriately dressed.

    1. personally, think Prince Louis looked absolutely perfect. My sons' school, like many others in the UK, has small boys in shorts all year round. For some reason, it's recently become "fashionable" for older boys (early mid teens to wear shorts through the winter as well. If you caught cold from wearing shorts there'd be a lot of sick children around. :-)

  22. It's so sad everyone believes all the press' lies about Harry and Megan. Only we can put a stop to it, by not accepting it as truth. They should be there with their family, but now the press and the public has taken that away. Without all the lies there wouldn't have been an Oprah interview, or a Netflix docuseries. Harry and Megan would have been walking along side their family. And now the press' first words are , "We think they might be splitting up." Holy crap people. Open your eyes to the Press' lies! I hope at least the royals see it. Edward and Sophie should understand. Heck we all should know what lies the Press can sell as truth. Speak up! Don't accept this.

    4. It's so sad so many have believed absolutely everything said by Harry and Meghan. Was Meghan exposed to unacceptable levels of appalling racism and incredible pressure? Undoubtedly. Were they unhappy? Absolutely? But I don't believe everything they have said not least because several things are demonstrably and provably untrue. So no, I'm not going to just merrily accept "their truth" as the absolute version. They weren't forced to give interviews or write books, they don't dislike the press, they dislike not being able to control the narrative (which is understandable). So how about they get on with the life of service they want and let time heal a few wounds - on both sides.

      Spot on.
But I wish you good luck with your request/instructions.
I see the problem as “us”, the public.
We want to read this rubbish. We pay good money to read what the gutter press has cooked up for us. The Sussexes are big money earners for them.
As kids, my dear old mum always told us “don’t try to whitewash your own failings by talking about the failings of others.
I always try to put my failings into place before I start raving on about other people’s failings.
Happy festive season to my fellow bloggers and to Helen for her work, especially the photos.
Hope we get to see the Christmas card from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

    6. Sorry, Anon 7 06, I don’t think they had any wish to be there. I wonder which press stories do you regard as lies. The only lies that I know have come from Harry and Meghan, like they got married before the actual wedding ( Archbishop of Canterbury said nonsense). There are loads more but here is not the forum to list them all. I am totally in agreement with Anon 18 55. There were obvious problems but now let them get on with the lives they have chosen away from the eyes of the public.

  25. Some traditions are better left to the past. Not allowing little boys to wear proper pants in the dead of winter (when, as rightfully observed abode, the mother wears a wool coat, long boots and gloves) seems so out of sync with the times that it makes one wonder if them form and not the substance prevailed when the decision was made to dress a little child like that. Might have been what happened generations ago, but at that time a lot of other traditions and ‘norms’ existed that have long been abandoned (is anyone still using the same toilets like in Victoria’s time nowadays in the BRF?).

Sartorially speaking, everyone fits the mild otherwise. I prefer Beatrice and Sophie over the others. Hat off to Beatrice for bringing her step son. He is part of the family.

I am sure they could have found better footwear for Louise. Unless she was flying directly from the church to Bahamas - her open back sandals seem as odd as Louis’ sorts and socks. Come to think of it, maybe the two of them were flying out.

Joke aside, good showing overall, if nothing truly spectacular. But that’s alright - it’s appropriate for the year that’s been. Truly a sad Christmas for everyone without her majesty.

    1. @Kteach. Agree on your fashion point. Everybody’s dressed up in their Sunday best to go to church. Good to see the tradition is being retained and that the children are included.

Nice to read that the absence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (I’m assuming that this is the disgraced couple you are referring to) helped to make you “happy” during this festive season.
Why not drop the Sussexes a note thanking them for their absence and for helping you with your ‘joy-of-the-festive-season’.

If you have time, please read the following article by a British journalist of the gutter press with his proposal of what should be done to King Charles’s daughter in law, that is, the wife of Prince Harry.
The article (19 Dec. 2022) should make a lot of people very happy……….
      https://www.newsweek.com/meghan-markle-critic-slammed-vile-depraved-docuseries-column-jeremy-clarkson-1768022

In case you don’t have time available to read it, in brief, the journalist said that King Charles’s daughter in law “ should be paraded naked through the streets of Britain so that the crowds can chant, SHAME and throw excrement at her”.
Just how low can the gutter press go?
I’d change their title to the “sewage” press.

  30. I have been reading the comments posted about Harry and Meghan. I have great sympathy for them especially for Meghan. It must have been super hard to receive the amount of racism that she had to endure. At first, I thought it could not have been that bad. Then I was sitting in a hairdresser one day overhearing how two woman talk about Meghan. So disgusting. One even making a comment that het little girl must have been adopted. Because she has blue eyes and a really light skin. When will people stop. I am sure Harry and Meghan made mistakes because they are human and young. But the fact that they are not on these photos are pretty sad and it shows that there are a bunch of really bad people out there.
