This dress shows Mr. Varela's creativity and needlework mastery. The dress and hairstyle are echoes of her Asturian roots. Flawless makeup.

    1. Agree, she has better ones. Who is the chic lady in the violet pantsuit? Does anybody know?

    2. The woman wearing a violet pantsuit is a Spanish government minister named Isabel Rodriguez Garcia.

  3. I loved this dress before and I love it again. It is a work of art. Felipe Varela and Letizia are a match made in heaven! Her black diamond earrings are the perfect compliment. This dress does not need anything to distract from it, and these earrings enhance instead of compete, while finishing her look. Stunning!

Agree, it must have taken many, many hours to sew all those beads. B.

  5. We have seen this dress before and the Queen looks lovely in it. There is something about the lower black parts that feels a little bit off but I understand how it has been worked in with the pattern. I think this dress must be very heavy to wear with all the metallic thread embroidery.

  9. From afar it looks just like a nice dress, but when you see the details up close… wow it is exquisite

  11. I like the bodice but dislike the skirt part. The material seems intricate and indeed exquisite, I just wish it wasn´t as busy. If the greys were more in tune (less contrast), it would look nicer.

  12. How wonderful to see a repeat of this beautifully crafted dress again, very elegant. The design is stunning. The intricate beading and embellishments are perfectly placed. The black diamond earrings are outstanding. The earrings are a generous size. Her black shoes and clutch, blend in well. Her hair and makeup look perfect.

Yes It is, and Letizia is from Asturias as myself. You only need to see what Don Pelayo wore.

While I agree the dress is a work of art in terms of the gorgeous beading I still don't like it on Letizia. The cut of the dress make it appear it is too large for her. I am sure it isn't the wrong size so maybe its the black panels. I don't know but I still cannot like it on her.

This is a more a statement piece than fashion. It was created to be worn in Asturias at the PdA awards. Pictures of Pelayo 1 are a clue to the inspiration as mentioned above about medieval style in the Kingdom.
