King Albert II, Queen Paola, Princess Astrid, Prince Lorenz, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire attended a ceremony held with the participation of the Chamber of Representatives, the Senate and the Federal Government at the National Palace, which took place on the occasion of "King's Day". The theme of this year's ceremony was “Make Art not War”.
King’s Day (Koningsdag) has been celebrated since 1886 on November 15 which is the name day of both Leopold and Albert, the names chosen for the first four heirs to the Belgian throne. It is recognized as the official birthday of the King.
Prinz Laurent looks much better now since he has lost weight. And his marriage to princess Claire seems to be solid and quite happy despite all the rumours one could read.

ReplyDeleteSince the death of QEII, it's good to see the older royals still making appearances. I am moved by King Albert and Queen Paola's sweet interaction. The Queen is so very lovely.
