  1. Maxima's face looks beautiful with hat on in 7th photo but not with the dress.

    3. No, she does not look elegant. The tacky shoes do not any favour to her legs, to put it mildly. The hat looks ridiculous. And all the over the top jewellery cannot be considered very elegant either.

    5. I have looked at the shoes really carefully but can't see why they would be considered tacky. Is it because there are plastic bits in the design? Personally, I rather like them. The hat is lovely and really suits her, much better for the occasion than some of the bigger hats she often favours. Love the style of the dress too. Great choice for her arrival in Greece.

  2. I like her dress. It fits her very well. Like the colors too. Her jewelry is very regal. The only thing I don't like are the shoes. I wonder how she can walk with shoes which have plastic parts.

    1. I like very much the dress as well; hope to see it again later. Very nice combination of colors. Yes the hat is over the top....

  3. Picture No.7 is fabulous. I like everything - dress, hat, shoes, clutch, jewellry - seperately, but for some reason it doesn't work together IMHO, especially the brooch.

  4. Superbe silhouette avec une belle association de couleurs mais son bibi à voilette fait trop habillé pour ce moment précis ; magnifiques boucles d'oreilles que je préfère à sa broche !

  5. Max is dressed again too over the top. Instead of dressing down when she's visiting a republic and meeting the Greek PM in a normal pantsuit, she's wearing a hat with a veil and lots of jewels.

Queening today is not about wearing the outfits queens wore 50 years ago. She's the diplomatic consort of the Netherlands Head of State and dressed way over the top to the start of this visit.

    2. I agree with alondra, way over the top with the white hat and veil, what I describe as 'stripper' shoes, all the plastic bits looks tacky compared to a nice dress, but just toooo much. Anne

    3. Do you think that royals should dress down when visiting a republic? It's not something I've heard suggested before and seems to be a bit like treating them like second class countries in some way

  6. This has is so oddly proportioned. It looks a bit costumey. Perfectly lovely look without the hat. I wish she ditched the hat. Maxima ends up in the fussy mum territory by doing too many competing pieces.

  7. This is a tour I’ve been waiting for for a long time. I think the tour has been postponed two times now due to the Covid problem.
Queen Maxima has started by honoring Greek fashion and culture by wearing an ensemble by Zeus+Dione, a 100% Greek fashion house which has been established for just over 20 years. In their publicity they say that their inspiration and creativity comes from aincient Greek culture. They use local workers and artisans for their fabric coloring and fabric manufacturing.
If Queen Maxima’s idea of wearing something of Greek inspiration, then I think the little veiled hat doesn’t fit in with her objective.
I’ve always thought that Queen Maxima’s taste in fashion ties in well with modern Greek couture which at the same time puts subtitity and boldness together.
If you’ve got a few free minutes to spare, take a look at what’s behind the fashion company Zeus+Dione. The link is…….

      Thank you, @Deadeggs.
I really enjoy reading about designers stories and their creations.
As to Maxima's décolletés: I saw other pics where flexible plastic inserts are clearly visible.
I wouldn't chose them for myself but I do not think they are so uncomfortable. to walk in.
The dress is lovely and this cinnamon shade suits Maxima so well.
The hat would have been on point without a veil on the front( something like a white pill box would have worked in fabulously IMO).
The king looks smart in his blue suit and his tie in a Chambray shade, both meant as a nod to the Greek flag.
The pics taken on the Acropolis are marvellous.

I do not understand the comment about Maxima's décolletés and plastic inserts.

  8. I presume this is a Greek design, otherwise I donot understand this choice.
The dress is not too bad, but asks for a less formal hat.
And the shoes..another colour of the awfull plastics.
The “ portrait” of the 7 Th pictures is indeed beautiful,

  9. Maxima looks wonderful in this ensemble. The two colors, dress length, hat, and jewels all work with one another—and her hair is down but looks perfectly groomed. She is a Queen, not a government legislator, and she looks perfect for her role today. This is a win.

  10. QM looks fantastic. Coulour combinations, model ( simple), right choice of jewelry. Love the hat with the veil. And above that the choice of a Greek designer. Of course she should look like a queen, cause it's a State Visit. In this fashion blog we are always looking forward to State Visits with gala dinners etc. cause those are the highlights of royal fashion.

  11. I love the dress. Original and stylish. However the hat doesn’t match the dress at all in my opinion, two completely different styles. It gives me wedding vibes. Anyway, she looks beautiful.

    1. Ha, exactly my thoughts too, in fact it reminded me of joan collins in Dynasty or early princess diana. Maybe a large black hat would have been better. I like the dress but its an awkward colour to match a hat too unless you want to be matchy matchy. Km

  15. Queen Maxima is wearing a beautiful dress--it fits so well and is very flattering to her in every way. I'm on the fence about her hat--it looks great in some photos and more like a marshmallow with netting in others. Still, I like everything but her shoes. I cannot stand those high heels with the plastic inserts. Sorry, but to me, they are tacky. I would have preferred to see a pair of heels in the same color of the flats she changed into for the walk around the Acropolis. Seeing these state visits again are such a treat!

A great looking two-tone dress, everything is very fitting, only the vail on this hat would look better at a wedding. OMO. css
