  1. Proper stylish business suit in good navy color with white blouse but the choice of the shoes is wrong, they should go to garbage bin. Her face with glasses on (second photo) looks really nice even with the hair a bit messy. I like whole look.

    1. I wouldn’t throw shoes by Salvatore Ferragamo in the dustbin ! Just combine with a different colour outfit !!

    2. Agree totally horrible shoes are spoiling her sleek outfit. Personally I would ditch the frilly blouse as well and replace it with a sleeker one. Her hair? I am just getting used to it. I think she just does not think it is that important to waste her time on trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear and I am beginning to think she is right. What she is working for is far more important and forget the hair.

  2. For me, this is how Maxima would have looked had she not become a queen. This is so Maxima in het NY years before WA!

  5. Max is channelling her inner CP Victoria! Hardly seen this side of her before, IMO, this is more preferable instead of those over the top outfits.

  6. She can put on decent business attire, or ball gown with tiara, but when you continue to appear day after day with the 'messy' hair look, it takes away from the rest of what one is trying to portray to the world. Messy hair has sadly become her go to look and it shows lack of care of ones appearance. Annie

    1. Yes, you’re so right. And what about those people continuing to comment day after day on that ‘messy’ hair look. Pfff… it really takes away from the rest of whatever one is trying to communicate to the world. Fannie

    2. The comments about Maxima's hair are made as though she does it on purpose. I don't think she does. Her hair was not always like this. It could be age and hormones that have caused her hair to thin.

    3. Queen Maxima is actively working to support and move the global economy towards greater inclusion. She should be celebrated for her intelligence and commitment, which is well beyond many others in her position. Acknowledging that this is a fashion blog, I think her outfit is stylish and approachable. And as for her hair, I’m blessed (😜) to have the same hair and it’s hard to ever make fine, thin hair look polished, even by professional stylists. Saying it’s a lack of personal care is an unfair comment.

    4. She is looking really good. Nice earrings and Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. Everything ok ( her hair?).
Cutting ribbons is so tiring, yawn. Thinking ... 20 years ago she was also working for a bank.. why not use it again! Good working attitude ( never a day lazy).

  8. Loving this look, so appropriate. Terrible shoes choice, I really dislike those shoes although by the look of it, they completely covered when stood up. Km

  9. I like Q.Maxima's business look. And those who are against her shoes are wrong. She is very smart, now that the block heels are in fashion again, to wear these comfortable shoes.

  10. What's with the inverted self-discrimination? This enormously intelligent Queen clearly has zero time for the mundane things of this world. Queen Maxima is busy and is 100% more than hair, clothes, shoes, bags, jewels, etc.

Fact is, men get a free pass with unattractive tousled, unkempt hair/bald heads. It is about time that this is privileged understanding is extended to all women regardless of social standing or professional status. Women, please stop being so judgemental, remember that charity begins at home.

    1. Your comment would be true, if she was a professional woman focused on her work and had a closet full of serviceable outfits, but she is not, she wears an incredible amount of jewelry, some of it outrageously expensive, her shoes and handbags are from high end designers, and many of her outfits are worth more than any regular person would earn in a month. So no!! she likes fashion, she flaunts fashion, and she likes to be seen, nothing wrong with that. To portray her as a uninterested fashion person is ridiculous. Regardless what type of hair you have, you can make it look tidy, she does very well when she is traveling to other countries. She can absolutely have a hair and makeup stylist on her payroll. This family has an immense fortune, so let’s not be ridiculous, and find excuses for her sometimes terrible appearance.

    2. Absolutely agree, Cherry. She doesn’t need to look glamorous but even with very fine hair it’s possible to look tidy. As Queen Maxima has indeed demonstrated many times. AnnieM

  12. I believe QMax is wearing a corduroy jacket the navy blue color perfectly matching her pants. The crisp white blouse with the jabot collar is perfect for this outfit. I think she was smart to wear the lower-heeled shoes. Finally, I do not think her hair is "messy." I think it is fashionable straight.

Queen Maxima looks great. The colour and fit of the suit is perfect. The queen's outfit is appropriate for the function she is attending. I like her earrings very much and they add a bit of "bling" to her conservative outfit.

  14. I love this Navy pantsuit, it fits well. The addition of the frilled white blouse I love. Her shoes, clash with her outfit, regardless the Queen obviously prefers these, I noticed she has worn them a few times lately. These glasses suit her beautifully, the 2nd photo of her she looks stunning.

  17. @ Anonymous 17/10/22 01.34 - How do you know that Queen Maxima is not focused on her work .... Is it a fact that Queen Maxima does not have serviceable outfits ... ? Your statements are false ... subjective not objective ... personal not professional.

You have proceeded to vociferously demonstrate the very same discriminatory stereotypes and double standards practiced against women - royal or not, fashionable or not. You have merely given credence to the the very issues raised. Queen Maxima is not her hair.

    1. Obviously, you misread my comment, never have I ever said that Queen Máxima whom I terribly like, is not competent, accomplished and a woman of substance, but to portray her as a professional without any regard for fashion is not only inaccurate but frankly laughable. She is flamboyant, over the top, and by no means a wallflower. You know in life both things can be true…
Please stop trying to pick juvenile virtual arguments, you have your opinion which I disagree with, that’s just it, no need to raise the inequities between genders, that’s not germane to this discussion, this is a fashion thread, if I wanted to opine about the accomplishments and curriculum of these royals, I would probably choose another venue.

  18. @Anonymous 01.34 17th Oct, you have missed the point.

Please recall that Queen Maxima is a masters degree holder, professional Banker and Economist who makes valuable contributions to the IMF, World Bank, United Nations, etc.

The fact is that Queen Maxima presents as business like a professional as they come in a classically tailored suit therefore the question of hair (and other "fashionable accessories" is a mute point and do not arise when speaking of men. Prior to marriage, this Queen was Vice President of Emerging Markets at Kleinwort Benson New York and also held other positions in Europe, just like men. Excuse me but her hair is neither here nor there.
