My thoughts exactly, Elisabeth! If it isn't a huge hat then it is bunches of flowers on her head. At least it is good for a laugh.

I am not sure anyone else could have said it better LOL. So ridiculous. For someone with such means, how can she keep getting it so wrong?

Cannot agree more. Without the flower girl crown, it would have been fine.

I wish King Willem-Alexander would shave his beard, it makes him look scraggly. I do not like Queen Maxima's dress at all, the dusty rose colour does nothing for her, the style looks old, I am not a fan of different length hemline and the flower hat is too much. Sorry I had nothing positive to say about the outfit.

  7. Désolée, je n'arrive pas à dire qu'elle est avantagée par la robe et surtout cette coiffe fleurie ; à choisir, je la préfère quand elle a un grand chapeau même si je n'en suis pas vraiment fan !

Has she got lost on the way to a wedding? The dress isn’t too bad but the headdress is awful km

A bit too froo-froo for my taste, but they both have great chemistry and their presence was well received by the children.

  11. This dress and headpiece would not be something I would wear, but, perhaps, Queen Maxima dressed for the purpose of pleasing the children. If so, she seems to have succeeded. Her free spirit and joyous attitude are very appealing.

I think that this outfit is a little much, but the ugly comments are also over the top. Máxima pushes the envelope, sometimes she wins and others not so much, but she keeps us on our toes…

To ridicule how others dress is very petty, I was taught: if you don’t have anything good to say, please don’t say anything at all; there are better ways to express your dislike of something and especially what a person is wearing without belittling them.

I agree. I don’t like the mocking tone at all of some of you. If you don’t like an outfit ok then, but what is it with the “haha”. What are you-5 years old?

I think the dress is lovely. Very feminine and beautiful color. I am a fan of Maxima’s sometimes crazy outfits, but this time,I am sorry to admit, I must agree with you all when you say the headpiece is ridiculous. And with the long hair it looks childish.

È stato scritto già tutto. Rivaluto il vestito perché il tessuto leggero le scivola bene addosso, ma il copricapo è terribile. Mi sembra lo abbia già indossato, ma nessuno che le dica che è ridicolo e non le dona affatto.

  16. After such a sad week, the sight of this visit is clearly uplifting and splendid. Just to see the sea of faces, excited group of children who could barely contain their excitement. Each one of them even the adults are all happy, smiling and waving, welcoming the Royal couple. The King and Queen with their broad smiles and clearly enthusiastic greetings, especially right now for me personally definitely warmed the heart. This will certainly be a visit that none of these little ones will ever forget. The Queen looks feminine and pretty in her light rose colored dress, nice.

Dear Ava, I think you captured the atmosphere of this event very well. Queen Maxima is no perfectionist, and we either like or dislike her attire, but she radiates an enthusiasm and lack of vanity like no other queen and does not deserve all this hideous bashing.

I never liked this dress the first time she wore it and I don't like it now. As for the headpiece I wonder if she wears it to please the agricultural community of North Brabant where the women are wearing their folkloristic hairpieces too.
On the other hand it is good she still wears her older dresses once and a while.

While Maxima's style is not my personal style, she always looks well turned out, fashionable and fun. I believe she dresses to be seen, much like QEII dressed in bright colors with hats that figured prominently. This served 2 purposes, one it differentiated her from everyone around her so that people who are there to catch a glimpse can easily spot her, and two it was "worthy" of a royal. Far better to be overdressed, to set a higher sartorial standard, than to be underdressed. I remember a Scouting event where the then Duchess of Cambridge showed up in skinny jeans, turtnleneck sweater and boots. One little boy asked why she wasn't dressed like a princess? The fact is that at public events/appearances, the spectators expect royals to look like royals. I applaud Maxima for doing this with flair. Her hair has been fabulous lately, so no quibble there. I am not a fan of her insect jewelry, and find the shawls "meh" when worn, otherwise she gets high marks from me. S.M.

Please put this frock, head-dress in the bin and pretend it never came back from the cleaners. :) Did not like it the first time she wore it, it has not gained approval this time around either. Jane
