  1. Yes to the dress with reference to Belgian colors. The queen's posture is however not always good. I don't find anything positive to say about Pr Astrid's outfit. She seems to take some inspiration from Camilla but it is not a success in my view. Pic7 the choice of the background, by the photographer I guess, is not good.

The royal family always stand before the white statue of Queen Elisabeth (from the Queen Elisabeth music contest) when they visit the Bozar (Palais des Beaux Arts). It is not the photographers fault and it is the only spot where they can stand to make the pictures.

I never saw Camilla in a coat like that. I wonder why Princess Astrid does not wear one of her Chanel outfits, she used to wear in the past. Maybe they don't fit anymore and we don't see her often in real haute couture lately. Perhaps we will see her in very beautiful clothes at the marriage of her daughter in the near future.

    3. Yellow, orange, pink and green are not exactly the belgium colors. As far as I know.

    4. Queen looks like she is wearing a wrap before going for a swim at the beach!

  2. I wish this dress was more tailored and had an even hem at the knee in order to counter that wrapped-in-a-bedsheet-vibe that these dresses often have.

    1. That is an impression you may get from 1 picture, but not from all pics ;that is the danger of judging from photos. I think the Dries van Noten dress is fine for summer.

  4. Quel contraste entre la superbe robe de Mathilde aux couleurs estivales et la tenue d'Astrid dans son kimono original ; je suis ravie de la voir avec son trรจs beau sourire !

    1. Astrid's nice smile, only on one pic. To me she is a total disappointment.

I don't know what it is, but since she has been ill lately, Princess Astrid's face has changed. She looks much older all of a sudden.

Although we saw her only once in a similar but long dress by Dries Van Noten, I think this kind of dresses are better in the long version. Another thing she should avoid with a shorter dress are shoes with straps around the leg. It makes the legs shorter and less elegant than classic shoes without straps. Princess Astrid's coat is rather special. I think she looks enormous in this coat. I do not understand why she wears it on top of pants and a blouse. She has rather small shoulders and the coat (while it is probably not) looks very heavy. I don't understand the choice of prince Lorenz striped shirt either, he is not on a business meeting. The colors are lovely on both ladies.
King Phillip and Queen Mathilde are looking very tired.

Just because Queen Mathilde has a fair skin the fashion stylist recommend bright colors instead of white, cream, off-white, etc...

If you don't know queen Mathilde's style by now means you don't follow her since a long time in the media and on this blog. For years queen Mathilde wore clothes designed by the House of Natan in Belgium. Her style was predictable. She received a lot of comments. It was rarely good, although he has made beautiful things for her, sometimes I must admit he was completely wrong. During and after the pandemic queen Mathilde started to buy her clothes at new and other designers than before. She already found brands that suit her very well. On the other hand when she wears sometimes one of her older dresses designed by Natan everybody suddenly likes it.

Hmmm--I like the dress on Queen Mathilde but would love it if it were long. The cut at the knees added to having another cut at the ankles due to the straps of the shoes isn't a good visual. Princess Astrid. I like the parts--the white pants and top are a summer staple and the pink kimono is beautiful. But...the kimono is overwhelming Astrid--its either too big or too much fabric. I like the idea but the execution is off.

The evening outfit of Q Mathilde is , really something, not what I would have wore, she can do much better. Astrid did well with the white, but that pink thing no. josebabe

  9. The Queen looks nice, but I am not a fan of this dress. The length of the dress, the strappy shoes, overall look IMO not favourable.

I am in minority, but I quite like the dress Mathilde chose. Seems very festive and it’s certainly not boring. I think it’s appropriate for an artistic event. IAM not a fan of the gold shoes, but overall she loves very nice - IMO. The hairdo is unusual and works as well for this type of occasion.

    1. I like the general impression given by the dress as well, I don't mind it is shoulder asymmetric. Mathilde is tall and can wear this sort of design even in the shorter version and with strapped shoes. It is colorful and includes black yellow and red for this national day celebration, even if mixed with other colors.

Well, the Belgian Royal ladies are certainly going for something different. I like the colours of the Queen’s dress but In my opinion it would look better either full length or with two shoulders. As for Princess Astrid, she looks for all the world as if she is wearing white pyjamas and a pink dressing gown. It’s awful AnnieM

    1. You know @AnnieM, my first reaction also was pyjamas and dressing gown for Princess Astrid.
She has always been a very elegant, fashionable dresser.
IMO it's a rare miss for her.

Il monospalla di QM รจ davvero orribile, sia per l'accozzaglia di colori che per la fattura. Diciamo che si poteva fare di meglio.
Abbastanza assurdo anche il look della P. Astrid.
