On the occasion of her 50th birthday to be celebrated on 20 January 2023, Queen Mathilde launched the initiative 'Together in motion for mental well-being'. As part of this initiative, between July and December of this year, the Queen will go on walking or cycling tours in all ten Belgian provinces and in the Brussels Region, together with people and organizations involved in projects related to mental well-being.
In Beernem, the Queen kicked off the initiative on July 13. The Queen took a bike ride with the low vision and blind residents of 'Licht en Liefde' in Varsenare.

This time the colors and the cut doesn't matter. To go biking pants must be comfy, not too long and too wide. It is the initiative that the queen took that counts. How do you think these people who are disabled but able to bike with her, even if it is in a wheel chair, are feeling. She made them happy, the look on their faces speaks for themselves.

ردحذفThere are a lot of things many people don't know about Queen Mathilde. She is sometimes forgotten in the media. She is very sportive. In the summer she is going to bike with the whole family. Not long ago she walked the 20 km of the yearly marathon in Brussels. Prince Emmanuel did the same distance by running. She plays tennis and in the Castle of Laeken there are swimming pools. During winter she goes skiing. Maybe she is doing a lot of other sports nobody knows off.
