    1. The Duchess of York is now 63 years old.
She has a skin that doesn't like sun.
She doesn't seem to be interested in botox or fillers.
Add all that together and you get what you see today.

It is already for a while now that her face looks swollen. I think the only day I saw a picture of her in a beautiful dress was on her wedding day with Prince Andrew. One you look at her outfit on this picture, one would think that she took a couple of things out of the textile container, where you can leave your old clothes to recycle.

It’s called age. And when you have the delegate skin of a (true) redhead and most likely not the best habits of protecting that skin, you get what you see here.

The older ladies didn't use botox or fillers and their faces look fresher than hers. I remember the Duchess of York when her daughter P. Eugenie got married, she didn't look like that and that is not so long time ago. With her skin type she should know that she cannot have a lot of sun. She should stay out of the sun and protect her skin every day.

Her face looks swollen, that does not come from having the sensitive skin of a redhead or not using sun protection. Either she has had fillers or she is ill. I hope she is well.

Sun damage might have caused wrinkles but it’s the puffiness of the Duchess’s face that’s so different since we last saw her. I hope she’s not ill. AnnieM

    7. There is nothing wrong with her fair skin type! what is alarming is her puffy swollen face and odd mini skirts at her age with unflattering legs.

    8. She needs a new hair style. Long hair on older women makes them look older.

      Why is she there?

She is there because Lady Elizabeth Shakerley was a very good friend of hers. She was a bridesmaid at Princess Beatrix's wedding.

@ Anon. 07:44 In the Benelux we wear hats very occasionally. We can go to church or to a funeral without a hat. I don't know if you remember princess Beatrix' hats. They are huge, she often received bad comments for that. Maybe she thinks it is time to leave her hat at home.

Duchess of York can never get dressing right, really she looks strange

Sophie's dress makes her seem very solid and heavy. After weeks of seeing her is soft, light, elegantly shaped dresses, this is a bit of a shock.

Well I looked up other pictures where she is wearing that dress. After all it is not that bad. I like the small skirt of the dress on her. The length is good. The color is very up-to-date. I even like the shape of her hat. It is true that maybe she was thinner when the dress was new. Now the bodice looks a bit too tight, but we all are getting older and Sophie looks a happy and friendly person and hard working too. She has great values and for that I admire her.

  5. The elegant outfits of The Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra and Princess Beatrix are appropriate and attractive. Sadly I really do not like Sophie's dress at all. The neckline isnt balanced and the hat doesn't look right. As for Sarah words fail me and Princess Michael is swamped by her top - a smart new hairstyle would help.

Oh Fergie, we need to move on in life as we age & not try desperately to look & dress like a teenager. It's not working for you, Fergie. It must be tiring to put all that effort in & then end up looking so "strange", as one commenter said. *Regina

I can’t even begin to wonder what’s going on with Sarah DoY! She’s dressed more for night out than a service of thanks giving ! Her skirt is way too short ! The jacket is too tight ! Such a shame, she never seemed to find a dress sense that worked for her !
    Princess Beatrix is so elegant!
Sophie looks beautiful! She’s worn this dress a few times. P

The only one looking elegant is Princess Beatrix. Even Sophie is a disappointment imo. I don’t even mention the other outfits.

Can't see why it looks cheap. And not sure why she should be trying to make an "interesting" fashion statement at someone's memorial service.

Princess Alexandra, Princess Beatrix, and the Duchess of Gloucester all look so elegant and chic. I have always liked the green dress Sophie is wearing but for reason it just doesn't look right in these photos--still, Sophie is lovely. Lady Gabriella also looks wonderful. I have to say that Sarah York looks a mess--she needs to look at how well put together Alexandra, Beatrix, and Birgitte are and work to emulate them. Gone are the days when her sartorial role model is someone like Gabriella. Princess Michael of Kent has also put together a very very nice outfit--except for the hair bow. I wish she had pulled her hair up but I know she is still struggling with the long-term effects of COVID so perhaps an up-do was too challenging.

  11. I believe I'm right in saying that 'Fergie' should be titled 'Sarah, Duchess of York', since she is divorced.

I think the best dressed today is the Duchess of Gloucester, including the big hat though I wish she’d treat herself to a new one. Princess Alexandra is also elegant as always as is Lady Gabriela, though the photo does not flatter her. I like the dress worn by Zenouska Mowatt (Princess Alexandra’s granddaughter) though not sure if the red shoes work with it. The Countess of Wessex’s dress is nice but the hat doesn’t work with it somehow. AnnieM

  13. The Duchess of Gloucester looks lovely, in this light feminine dress, love her emerald and pearl necklace. Pss Alexandra, looks immaculately groomed, love her diamond brooch. Pss Beatrix looked so elegant, the Navy two piece outfit is striking and suited her beautifully. Lady Gabriella looked beautiful in her blue coat dress, the design and cut is perfect, her hat looked great. Loved her pearl drop earrings. How lovely Sarah, was able to be at this Service of Thanksgiving, wonderful to see her.

  14. Chez Sarah, il n'y a que la veste qui peut à peine convenir pour un service d'action de grâce; sa jupe est vraiment trop courte et surtout trop ample !

  17. For many years, the Duchess of York has and still gets lots of negative comments and bad press about herself and her place in the Royal family.
Behind all this and with no drum rolls or fanfares, Duchess Fergy has devoted a lot of her energy and time to philanthropic works which have included a long list of charitable causes. A lot of her energy has been devoted to teenagers and children suffering with cancer. She has created and/or supported projects in Europe and other parts of the world.
It seems the media is not interested in this side of the vibrant personality of the Duchess of York.
As for her ensemble for the thanksgiving service in London, well one can only say, "that's Fergy being herself."
I hope she never changes and I hope she has the energy to continue with her work.

  18. Fergie is dressed too young and either over weight or ill. Both she and Princess Michael need a haircut. I am tired of older ladies having such long stringy over processed hair. Sophie looks wonderful. She usually does, though I am not a fan of the green. I think it fits nicely. Beatrix looks magnificent. She doesn't need a hat. Sad occasion but great ladies in attendance.

Fergie has never been a fashion icon and is used to criticism for both her style and appearance, but judging her from a photo where the fall of light is the factor.... says a lot about superficiality among the comments. She is clearly very affected, the deceased was one of the few close friends, she had in the royal house.
If she had make-up/foundation on, like the other elders, it could have left shadows if she had cried, which she probably has. / LL

Princess Beatrix comes away as best dressed in my opinion while Brigitte, Duchess of Gloucester always knows how to accessorize with great jewellery. Very well done by both of them. -- S.
