I do like Mathilde in this dress. I like the busy geometric print which suits the simplicity of the dress's style and that tone of blue is lovely. The large cuff detail stands out against the print and the wide neck is simple and clean. The length is perfect (or even an inch shorter) and the wrapped scarf hat matches the simplicity of the overall look. Very nice!

This is not a flattering dress, it looks like curtain of upholstery fabric. It’s way too stiff!

That is a lovely summer dress. The design, the color very simple but very elegant. The boat neck suits Queen Mathilde very much. I also like the hat, much better than all these hats with flowers or headbands. I like the navy clutch and shoes too.
She has trousers and a tunic in the same fabric but in wine red and white.
I wonder what she will wear in the Democratic Republic of Congo where she and King Philippe started a state visit today.

I too like the dress, color, fit. However, I am not a fan of the hat/cap that looks slightly different in colors and just does not go with the rest of the outfit.

I think the musicians must have had the feeling that they have met a real Queen.
    She really looks royal,

  6. At last! We can finally see the full version of what Queen Mathilde was wearing during Princess Isabella of Denmark's official confirmation ceremony back in April. It suits her style.

@ Mabel. She don't just look royal, she is royal. In the world of classic music the Queen Elizabeth (with a "z") Competition is famous on an international level. After Queen Elizabeth (king Philippe's great grandmother), It has always been the wife of the king that supports the music competition. Now it is Queen Mathilde who is encouraging the musicians who come from all over the world to participate to this competition. This year it was the cello instrument that stood central. Next year, it can be the piano or the violin we'll see. Since QM is present every day of the competition and talk to the musicians, I think they know her very well by now and it is not finish yet. When QM and KPh will be back from their state visit to the DR of Congo, there will be a concert given by the musicians who won a prize at this contest.

The only Queen EliZabeth I know is the Queen who recently had her platinum jubilee ( See Google: concours reine Elisabeth).
I hope you enjoyed the concours as much as I did.
I loved the compulsory new composition by Widman, and my favorite was Yibai Chen, who got the second prize.
But: this all beside the purpose of this blog, which still is: fashion.

Don't know why, but I have never cared for turban-style hats, which were popular in the 60's into the 70's. QEII frequently wore turban-like hats spanning more than a decade, and in my opinion this is her least attractive fashion period. This hat is reminiscent of that turban style, so I personally think it detracts from the overall look. The only woman who wears turbans well is Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser of Quatar. S.M.

There are always quite a lot of negative comments about designer Natan. But elegant queen Mathilde chooses most of the time the best models out of his collection. Again so tastefully dressed in this blue and white summerdress with lovely graphic prints and adorable "petite" hat. And finally got rid of these awful big belt as far as I can see.

Lovely appearance--beautiful dress that fits well and flatters Queen Mathilde. I love the blue and white--very fresh and summery. I do wish her hat was a true pillbox instead of this wrap-style but the placement is excellent and her hairstyle is beautiful.

And we are going for the bath cap. I kinda like the dress, but no to keen on the pattern and the fabric looks a little bit heavy at this time of year.
