Princess Kako of Japan attended the 69th Sankei Children's Book Award ceremony at Meiji Kinenkan in Minato, Tokyo. 8 works were selected from over 4,000 books. Princess Kako gave a speech during the award presentation ceremony for authors of children's books. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the ceremony at the museum is the first in three years.

The grand prize, "When the adults in the forest were children" is an extra edition of the popular children's literature "Heart's Forest" series, which was completed in 12 volumes five years ago. The author, Atsushi Okada (Rironsha) , received this year's award.

    i hope she finds a boyfriend to ran away with. She is too pretty for this life style.

      But no hat. I hope it was her decision alone not to wear a hat and not after negociations with the royal court.
      I've tried to find (via the net) if there are rules for the royal ladies related to wearing a hat..For the moment, no results.

  8. Agree with all the positive comments above. I'm so happy that she's not wearing the ubiquitous hat. I hope it was her choice and that the Royal Court wasn't involved in the matter.
