  1. I like the colors on this dress, as well as the shoes. However, I think the style makes her look older. I am also not a fan of the head piece. She looks a bit out of place compared to everyone else. Maybe the dress was not appropriate for the occasion?

Mathilde´s dress is more suitable for a gala dinner or a garden party. They're too festive for time of meeting and welcoming at the airport. The Greek president Mrs. Sakellaropoulou has an elegant trouser suit. Mathilde was to choose a costume (with a skirt or trousers) or a simpler sheath dress or coat dress.

I have noticed that Mathilde is always overdressed, as if she did not take into account how other ladies (female politicians or wives of politicians) will be dressed. It atracks attention : Is it her intention or coicident? Not enough considerate (in my opinion).

I wish the royals could stop using these stupid hats. Doesn't look good on anyone. Less is more.

    1. That hat's been borrowed from Queen Maxima.

      Absolutely!

    3. Or maybe Queen Maxima has started a little business on the side called "Maxima's-Rent-A-Hat- Service".
If this is the case, I hope it's the only one Queen Mathilde has rented.

The hat is not new, she had it already at an earlier occasion.

I read somewhere that the hat is new and has been designed by Fabienne Delvigne where Queen Mathilde buy almost all her hats.

I love the colours and the hat. For me less is less!

Lovely spring dress from Queen Mathilde. Feel like the hat was a bit too much but Mathilde does love her hats. The photo of her walking across the wet marble makes me want to hold my breath--looks as if she's doing the same! Janet

The dress is better without the belt like she wore it before (see the two pictures with(out) the mask and/or the pink shoes).

I agree. Great dress in a lovely colour which really suits Queen Maxima, but definitely better without the big belt. Generally love hats but this one seems too ‘cocktail-ish’ for this occasion. Love wide trousers but in the group photo the Greek PM’s wife looks like she’s attached to a plinth!

She looks rediculous. Indeed, less is more. Completely out of touch with the normal world.

Then the whole of the female British royalty are completely out of touch with the normal world. They also wear hats on almost every occasion.
Queen Mathilde is on the contrary someone who is very touched by the people who suffer or are mourning for the family members they have lost in several catastrophes.

The bashing of Queen Mathilde is incredible. She is obviously promoting a Belgian designer, namely Natan. As I have mentioned before, she might not even like the dress she is wearing but her sense of duty overrides
her personal preferences, who really knows.

Wearing designer clothes from your home country is not an obligation, especially not when those clothes are not suitable for the occasion. Daniela

She surely can be seen in a crowd, I don’t like this dress, however it would be passable on a total different venue. The hat is just way over the top, I think the outfit is overdone and very dated.

Didn't we just see a green version of this dress within the last couple of weeks? Or perhaps I am mistaken. It was worn with a wide belt by the Maxima? Annie

Yes, we did. Maxima has this dress in green, but the print is more floral. Natan strikes again. Given the fact that they dress two short waisted queens, one would think they would try a little harder to accommodate their bodies. ~d

I loved the dress the last time she wore it, and I still think it’s one of Nathan’s better designs. Having said that, I can agree that it’s a bit too fussy for the occasion, and like others I much prefer the smart pantsuit worn by the PM. (V.M.)

  13. Queen Mathilde looks lovely, but I am not a fan of this dress, either the belt or heavy widespread pleating, not sure. I love the shoe and bag color, great choice. Her earrings are lovely, I can only assume, in person the color of the stones would stand out even more than in the photos, a beautiful pink stone. The trouser suit the Greek Presidents wife is wearing, I love, the color combination and fit is fabulous. She looks very chic and stylish.

The way this dress was worn previously by QM it looked so much better on her: I prefer the dress without the big belt and with red coloured shoes. The hat in itself is nice, but as the pleads are so much narrower than the pleads of the dress, it looks as if it's made of crepe paper and therefore collides with the dress. Best to wear this hat with a 'not so complicated' dress, as it suits QM well.

  15. Oh dear Lord. She looks ridiculous. Even more next to the moderne stylish Greek President. Sometimes less is more! But I guess it is a proper outfit for Ascot.

Dear Daniela, Of course I know that there is no obligation for a queen to promote the designers of her specific country, but Queen Mathilde has a strong sense of duty and does not strike me as being overly vain so I think her approach is very wise and that of a true aristocrat. A queen should represent her country and not herself. The queen of Demark is an excellent example.
