On May 11, 2022, Queen Maxima attended the opening of the Jeroen Pit House in Amsterdam. The Jeroen Pit House offers a new form of care to chronically seriously ill children and their families. It is a place for the family to relax after hospitalization and where parents learn how to best cope with their child's illness. The Jeroen Pit House is a collaboration between the VanKarnebeek4Kids Foundation, the Emma Children's Hospital of Amsterdam and the Lindenhofje. Queen Maxima's new outfit is from the fashion house Natan.

  2. Another nice dress, though not quite as gooda length as yeserday's one. Nice colour too. Have tried and failed to like the hat

It was a bright and sunny day: Ladies dressed up, men wore regular clothing and this woman arrives with flowers in her hair. Seems like something from the 1960's. The sleeves were puckered, as if the fabric was not laid out correctly before being sewn to the main part of the dress. The hemline was uneven as well, a miss judgment, done on purpose, who knows. Just a form of humor for something almost beyond belief for a Queen, do not fuss at me, just accept my remarks, as my first thought on seeing these photos. janne'

I think if she was 12 years old that "thing" on her hair would suit her but not at her age now.

..... what about her dress? Very old fashioned style and one to wear, when she is 64 and maybe still loves it. 😏

Pretty spring and summer dress from Natan for Queen Maxima today--never been a fan of uneven hemlines so that's all I'd change here. I like the floral headpiece/hat--its very pretty and something Maxima carries off well. I think what she is wearing is perfect for the occasion--soft, pastel color and floral hat with minimal jewelry bring a level of calmness and softness into a place where there can such emotional challenges to face. Really lovely everything from Max today.

I'd give the dress two solids thumbs up and the headdress one.
There's nothing wrong with the headdress 'per se' especially since it is the same colour as the dress which adds to its favour, and that there are European cultures who do wear those type of headdresses as part of their national dress (meaning that people do wear such things). However I'd have liked it more if it wasn't so big/full and didn't look so 'matron of honour' for an elegant dress like this. A simpler hat, or a silk band with a couple of flowers to one side and no netting would have been better.
As for the dress, I love the colour and style. Light and right for Spring. If that's silk chiffon, it looks beautiful and feminine. The length is fine (could also be an inch or two longer if she wanted) and the uneven length is a nice detail for an unembellished dress.

Fantastic: the flowery hat, the soft colours, the charismatic presence of queen Maxima, she simply glows like no other royal and gives the occasion a unique touch.

I think hair up would have been better choice with this hairpiece and blouse. Now there's too much going on with those flowers, curls, blouse ruffles.
Maxima can carry off those flamboyant looks :D

And another hairpiece/hat/fascinator what ever. Can't we just burn all the royal ladies hats? They just look so stupid. Completely ruins an outfit and make them look like the odd aunt.

I don't mind about an uneven hem every now and then, but this one I find quite unappealing. Also to me there's too much fabric in the sleeves. The headpiece QM's wearing goes well with the fabric of the dress, but it's just too much for me. Overall not a bad look, but not one to get excited about.

I now remember that I read in a very interesting book that the Queen Mother used this soft pastel colour to bring comfort to distressed people during World War II and I assume this event, as described in the detailed introduction, called for similar royal protocol.

Love that you can find meaning behind her outfits, if the idea was to bring confort, she surely has given them heartburn with the thing on her head, it actually looks like a centerpiece. :-)

What a terrible outfit, that wreath makes it completely laughable with all those extenisons around it. When I was eight years old, I had a self-braided wreath of daisies. Don't do this when you are over 50.

If ever there was an occasion better suited for Maxima's exuberant flowers on her head, then this is it: the opening of an institution for chronically ill children and their parents. The quirkiness of those flowers and her adorable smile together exude good mood - this is proper in this context and can work magic. Quite independently from this, I think she looks good with all those flowers. This is not a style to copy, this is her unique style that fits her personality. (-Ann.)

Dislike the hate: It does not help chronically ill children: It serves no purpose, other than to make herself look silly and immature pretending to be a fairy godmother or something? Some people let their egos get in the way. Maybe a good thought, but that's where it should have remained, a thought. clarice

@ Anon 11:47 I think that there are many, many children who are left with little hope and only a dream who would disagree with you. Big time.
(And what do you mean by 'hate'? Who's hating who?)

That's Maxima. She must have chosen this soft color, soft fabric and flowers in her hair to make a friendly and soft impression towards the sick children and their parents.
Unfortunately this kind of fabric is very difficult to sew. And then you have to make an undergarment almost a second dress under the dress. I don't like the uneven hem. It makes it even more complicated. I understand the meaning of this dress but the result is not very flattering.
A dress only Maxima can wear.

Flower wreaths are traditionally part of the typical Ukraine costumes for women.
Just my thought: some Ukrainian ill children might be staying there for a while and Maxima wanted to make them feel once again accepted in a foreign country.

  25. I love the color of this dress, its very soft and appealing. If anyone can wear flower headgear such as this its the Queen, bringing plenty of smiles and laughter, by the look of it. Her multicolored earrings looked very interesting, Sapphires, yellow diamonds, colored amethysts?
This looked to be a splendid visit by the Queen, to the chronically seriously ill children and their families. The Queen brought some sunshine into their lives, her smile and laughter, sheer presence, would have been very therapeutic, especially the families being about to talk with her. Conversing with the parents/caregivers would have been of comfort. A splendid visit by Queen Maxima. Well done.
