Queen Mathilde and King Philippe visited the Revithoussa LNG Terminal

On the last day of their state visit to Greece, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the Revithoussa LNG Terminal (liquefied natural gas) in Revithoussa. The LNG terminal is located on an uninhabited island along the coastline of Athens and is of strategic importance to Greece and Europe.

The terminal was developed and is owned by Desfa, of which the Belgian company Fluxys is a co-shareholder. Queen Mathilde wore a new embroidered wool coat by the brand Costarellos owned by Athens-based designer Christos Costarellos.

Here I think a choice has to be made : or a white coat and trousers with flower print or white trousers and a coat with flower print. I would have skipped the hat and chosen a non transparent blouse. Otherwise not a bad outfit, very up to date.

The coat and pants are beautiful! Not sure I like them together--even on the model--as its a bit too much for my personal taste. However, kudos to Mathilde for supporting and highlighting her host country's fashion. The bright pink, very feminine blouse is a good choice for the outfit. Would like to see a re-style with the coat in particular--maybe worn with a pink dress as I think a solid background would beautifully highlight the coat's amazing embroidery. Janet

Yes, she is supporting and highlighting her host country's fashion industry. Nice show of respect.
The ensemble is by the same Greek designer who did her green dress for the state dinner. That is, Christos Costarellos.
He does very detailed finishing and embroidery to his pieces but at a price to justify the work. Example, Queen Mathilde's ensemble is advertised by one of his retail outlets at a price of around three thousand euros €3.000.

Yes! The coat is stunning, and would be perfect over a pink sheath dress, or slim pink trousers and top. Worn with the matching flowy trousers it’s too much of a good thing. I’m not sure the trousers would suit Q.M. regardless of what she paired them with. (V.M.)

Yes to the coat and its embroideries, but that would be enough.

Well done for the Greek connection. Its quite a statement but would probably have been better with either plain pants or a plain coat.

As far I'm concerned this isn't the most beautiful nor flattering outfit worn by QM. The flower print is just too massive, the pair of trousers too flared and high waisted and the fabric of the blouse more for a reception than for a visit to a terminal.

This type of trousers are always high waisted.

The only pieces I like are Mathilde's blouse and her hat.
If she had paired those with a more structured white trouser suit with only one big flower on the back (if it had to be there at all, so only visible from behind) I would have liked this ensemble. As we see it, it's just too much of everything (coat length, very wide trouser legs, huge flowers, hat, and even some kind of belt sash).
(PS The embroidered flowers in their own merit are quite artistic. They need a better use somewhere else.)

She wore this outfit to a terminal? I would not have worn it period. Too much of everything in the pattern, the pink hat and blouse for an evening occasion, it all was a miss-mash, not something for the Queen. She must have given approval, but in my opinion, it was a miss. Anne

  11. This is way over the top. It´s like 5 statement pieces put together, each of which able to provide enough interest on their own to "make" an outfit. But all together, it looks bad. The drama of wearing the coat cape-style was also unnecessary. And then walk around an LNG Terminal dressed like that?
    No.
I can see the potential in every item though. The design of every single piece is very nice. Maybe she´ll pair them more successfully next time.

  13. The coat is lovely, but I don't like the embroided flowers on either the pants or the coat, the combination together is too much. Regardless of my personal tastes its excellent craftmanship. Same with the pink hat and pink blouse, shoes and clutch, too much. The Queen looks beautiful, this outfit she obviously loves, well done to her.

  15. Good effort in honoring the host country, and that is about it. The outfit is totally out of place, the enormous print looks a little gaudy, the hat is superfluous, the blouse could be fine under a solid color, all together looks more like a costume than a morning outfit. The PM nailed it, except for the shoes.

  19. The outfit is by a Greek designer/fashion house.
It is being worn in Greece under Greece's bright and luminous skies.
Greek fashion and inspiration has gone into its composition.
I give Queen Mathilde top marks for showing and sharing her interest in Greek fashion/s.
Don't worry, in a couple of days she'll be back in Belgium with her northern European wardrobe and its inspirations from Natan.

@deadeggs She is already in Belgium and today on the 5th May she has another visit already. Because until now I only saw one picture it will probably not be published on this blog. But don't worry she was not wearing Natan but a white Armani jacket, black trousers and black and white Caroline Herrera shoes.

Terrible outfit to visit a place like that, but also elsewhere it would have been too much.
IMO its something that must be worn one piece at a time, all together its just too loud.
