Mathilde wears a pretty pink floral dress for a floral show...but for me the issue is that because she is high waisted, the skirt part looks too short. It's like someone wears their trousers too high or pulls their skirt up too high. Had the waist of the dress been worn lower on the body as I think it's meant to, the dress would have looked better on her. Instead it makes her look compressed. Also the sleeves would have looked nicer slightly shorter as on the model.
But otherwise she looks appropriate for Spring.

I know what you mean but it is very difficult to see where her waist is from these photos because in every single one she has her arm in the way!

    2. The dress looks better on the model indeed, but she is not a model, but maybe she wants to have it. To me the question is always "stick to 1 or few designs from the same designer" (like Dss Camilla) or wear what she wants accepting not everything is perfect. There are many questions we don't know, ex for long in advance, does she order her outfits, are adaptations always possible or satisfactory ? What are the opportunities to try it ? Basically how demanding is she ?

Dss Camilla is not exactly an example one should follow for her clothing choices. Then I prefer "high-waisted" Q Mathilde who wears from the spring/summer of 2022 on, just like Q Maxima, her skirts and dresses shorter again. Love her green shoes. The hat is too much with this dress (less is more).

  3. Wouah, une fleur parmi les fleurs ; très rafraîchissante cette robe même si je trouve qu'il y a trop de magnolias sur le haut de sa robe ; les escarpins sont vraiment magnifiques !

Charming dress on QM and for the event. I would have preferred pink shoes. The hat is cute, but somehow not placed quite right. Maybe a bit too babyish for our sensible queen. I would have skipped the hat altogether, if this was the only choice, and worn slightly larger earrings (not necessarily the oversized earrings QM favors) - the dress speaks for itself without a lot of accessorizing. Always specify of which QM you are writing. You cannot use this abbreviation for both Queen Mathilde and Queen Maxima in the same context.

@Anonymous 28/4/22 18:26: as this item is about Queen Mathilde and in the comment there's no comparison with any other royal it's obvious that QM stands for Queen Mathilde

I don’t often dislike Oscar de la Renta, but this dress is busy and prissy. Some very young women could probably get away with it, but both the print and style are too much for the Queen, the hat only adds more, and not in a good way

I tend to agree with all of your thoughts. The Queen does look tired, and her makeup seems more heavily applied, but given that she recently had covid, I would expect for her to be more tired. annie

    2. I think this is the perfect comment Cherry. Perhaps if the top part wasn't printed. But I do like the bright colors and it's perfect for the occasion:)

I noticed it too that Queen Mathilde looks very tired after she had covid. I was surprised that she already starts to do her visits again.

The fabric is cheerful but the fit not so much.
I think she might want to experiment with more sheath/coat dress styles.
She's not fat at all but her waistline is off with thus dress.

I would have rather she not wear that hat. The dress is already too busy. Minimal accessories would have been better

I wish the constant bashing of Queen Mathilda would stop. This dignified lady is no model. She has borne four children and is not obssessed with sartorial or corporal perfection. In her capacity as queen she represents her country as a true aristocrat. I am convinced that she does not even like many of the creations she wears (e.g. Nathan etc.) but does so out of a sense of duty.

@ Virginia. Couldn't have said it better. She is the queen of my country and a very friendly, lovely and like you said, aristocrat lady. She is very elegant and I think she knows what suits her. Look at her Armani coats and jackets. Last winter f.ex. she wore a couple of coat dresses in which she was very elegant too. But during the summer she likes to wear summer dresses. Natan is always appearing in the comments here as the one who cannot dress her properly and that she should try other (Belgian) designers, but when she does so the comments remain the same.

It's not bashing - it's people's opinions on her clothing. Sometimes she looks fabulous and other times people are so keen. Personally i like this outfit but i can see it wouldn't be to everyone's taste. But i also think, because she is naturally highwaisted (which obviously she can't help) it doesn't sit in the most flattering way - i still like it.

Nobody has called into question her personality or professional approach to her job.

    5. Dear Virginia why would QM wear clothes she does not like? Crazy idea.

  8. Queen Mathilde looks lovely, the pairing of green shoes and clutch, divine, clever splash of color. The pattern is busy, but obviously to the Queen's liking. I am not quite sure of the fit of this dress, regardless the King wearing a lighter shade of green tie, well done.

I can see the wink to the flower exhibition, but it's just too much flower QM's wearing for this visit and the model of the dress is not the best for her. Only the nice (flowery) headpiece would have been enough.

This outfit should have been left in the rubbish bin at the designer. No quibble with the Queen, she looks very tired after her illness with covid. Annie

Mathilde looks lovely here--if a bit pale. Given she has recently recovered from Covid looking a bit pale is not a surprise--perhaps a brighter lipstick would have helped. Her smile is as always warm and friendly. I also like that she added the green shoes. How sweet that HM is wearing a green tie. Both look great for the Flower Show. I have mixed feelings about the hat or at least its placement. I love the idea behind it but the execution... I have been thinking perhaps if it had been worn on the back of her head instead of the side it might have worked better. Not sure. Still, Mathilde looks great and I love that she was having a bit of fashion fun with her floral dress for the Flower Show! Janet

@Virginia, not one comment on this thread is bashing Mathilde. We don’t have to like a dress just because you adore the person wearing it. There seems to be general consensus about this dress not being flattering, and not only for her, but for almost anybody . This constant habit of trying to twist fashion opinions into personal attacks is getting out of hand, I can’t see why you can’t distinguish between both, unless you just want to create some drama.

@CB. If you wish this habit stops starts not to mention the fact that Queen Mathilde is high waisted, that is a personal attack. We do not constantly draw the attention on Charlene of Monaco's broad shoulders when she wears a evening gown without shoulders. We do not draw the attention on Queen Margrethe for the fact that her left hip is a lot higher than her right hip, etc... It must not be easy to find the right clothes for these royals. We do not mention these handicaps each time we look at the photos. In the case of Queen Mathilde we cannot even talk about a handicap because it isn't.

@Anonymous 30/4/22 18:49: in my honest opinion mentioning that someone's high waisted is not a personal attack but an observation. I agree with CB's comment that no one in this thread is bashing QM. If you look f.i. at the thread about King's day in The Netherlands where someone states that QMaxima is constantly seeking for attention that's what I call bashing (in particular as it are the same commentors doing it all the time).
