On the last night of their Caribbean tour, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a reception at the Baha Mar Hotel in Nassau. The reception was hosted by the Governor-General of the Bahamas, Cornelius A. Smith, in honor of the Duke and Duchess. The Duchess wore a pale blue satin gown by Philipa Lepley. The Duchess' dress is from the 2020 bridal collection of Philipa Lepley.

    1. Amazing how the Sussexes get draged into so many topics that have nothing to do with them (the Sussexes).

This gown makes up for the wardrobe "misses" the rest of the week.
Great color, fit and climate friendly.

There haven't been too many "misses" at all, imo.

Sadly, the one unqualifed success of the entire tour has been Kate's wardrobe.

  3. Eblouissante dans cette robe en satin bleu pâle ainsi que le délicat clutch (pochette) ; je pense quand même que la silhouette de Kate mériterait quelques rondeurs de plus ; très bon choix que ces bijoux Van Cleef & Arpels !

    1. Are you referring to the Van Cleef and Arpels Alhambra collection?
It is one of the most beautiful and iconic jewelry currently!

It's OK on its' own. It doesn't get much better than Van Cleef and Arpels.

But this type of evening gown calls for sapphires and diamonds.

Those accessories look rather cheap with that dress imo and they undoubtedly cost a fortune.

The DoC has much nicer evening dresses. This one is too shiny for me and the knotted fabric on the shoulders doesn't look right. It could also have been better in terms of jewelry, because the chain falls away against the dress

    1. I agree. The knot may look better a little higher off the shoulder. I don't think this jewellery suits this dress.

There she is the Hollywood Star. The fabric, the color the shape of the dress are very beautiful. Lucky she is not dressed in lace this time. Unusual that the hair is not done in an up-do but brushed straight on the back. I am starting to like her hair without the curls. On the other hand I am wondering if she used hair-extensions the past days. It could be possible since she has curls sometimes during the day. and the same evening at a reception/dinner her hair is straight and flat.

  9. Oops Apologies. Just come in from the sunlight and realise the dress is pale blue. Would still prefer a stronger colour though.

  10. Wow! Simply stunning. What a gorgeous dress. I love the color and the design. The way the waist of the gown is left ungathered accentuates her slim figure, and makes me envious. Her satin clutch is perfect, and her Alhambra necklace and earrings are very pretty. Her jewelry during the tour has been modest which, I think, is wise.

Breathtaking. I love everything about this look. Such a different dress style for the Duchess and it is gorgeous. She always looks amazing in icy toned evening gowns. Michelle

Love the dress. But hairstyle and accessories don't go with that sort of knockout full glam evening gown.

  13. Stunning! The icy blue gown is gorgeous. I do wish Catherine had chosen other jewelry. I also wish she had worn her hair up to highlight the beautiful design in the back of the gown. Regardless, she is beautiful in this gown.

I love the dress, the colour, the sexy draped style and her icy blue clutch and fab shoes. I especially like her understated jewellery. Any more would have been too much for an event like this. Overall a stunning look for the Duchess.
Well done Kate. A very fitting finale to an eye-opening tour on many levels.

  15. I cannot really explain why, but this gown seems “incomplete” to me, it makes Catherine look terribly reedy, and unnecessarily so, since evening gowns offer other solutions. I agree, the jewellry is too flimsy and somehow emphasizes the overall impression.

  16. The dress itself is beautiful. But I don't think it is very flattering on the DOC. It emphasizes her very broad shoulders and chest.

I am sorry, but I am not impressed.
Why design a dress that broadens the shoulders?
The jewelry is to bleak for the tender colour of the dress.
The straight hair is not very flattering.

I like this gown very much. Compared with the last two, this gown is the most elegant. I am also ready for a lighter color after two bolder colored gowns. I am impressed that Kate has allowed herself to be so exposed with the deep V in the the front and back. The way the fabric has been gathered across the bodice does add some fullness which is always a benefit to her. The only other detail is the delicate tie at the shoulders. I appreciate the simplicity, allowing Kate to shine. The one thing I don't love is the fabric. I would have preferred a softer sheen to the gown. The one fun element is on her bag. The closure has lips. What I like about the Magic Alhambra pieces is that they are mother-of-pearl. I think it is a nice choice for the Bahamas and hits the right note. While this gown can support diamonds, gems, or pearls, I don't think the occasion called for that much formality. Her hair is beautiful again. The straight hair tucked behind her ears is so much more on trend and she looks absolutely chic!
I am not so sure we will continue to see this style, but I hope really hope we do.
This is the way she can keep the length she seems to love with a more mature look than the curls give her. William's blue velvet jacket is an excellent choice with Kate's gown. What we don't have pictures of are William and Kate holding hands as they left the reception. I have the feeling that this tour has been a bit of a second honeymoon for them. ~d

Absolutely Exquisite! Simple, perfect elegance, the gown hugs her in all the right places, and the full skirt gives her body great proportions by not emphasizing her long torso ( which I would love to have, by the way). The bodice, shoulder ties, and décolletage are a flattering frame for her collar bone, neck, and face. The stiff, shiny fabric and pale ice blue color are integral factors in the overall look. This gown is so gorgeous, her hair and makeup are irrelevant so long as they don’t interfere with the effect of the gown. Can be formal/fancy to the max, or - as here - dressy but not too over-the-top. Divine, and I hope to see the duchess wear this designer again in the future. My favorite of the 3 formal gowns worn on this trip.

The pink sparkly gown was nice and suitable for the occasion/venue. The green frothy gown could have been okay, but felt a bit overdone for the occasion, while the flat, severely scraped back hair and harsh makeup emphasized her thinness, which made her look boney/ gaunt, unfavorably like an aging ballerina still wanting the lime( ha!green) light. 22. She looks lovely - very glamorous! I like the Van Cleef Alhambra necklace. A bit unexpected for this dress, but I like it. A nice change from the 'expected' precious stones.

The gown, from my opinion, was not her best look, though the jewelry was lovely in it's simplicity. Catherine looks lovely because she has an inner sense of grace, humanity and cares about others, the clothing can or will change, but her inner sense of peace and love is evident in the way she responds to those around her, guides her children, and loves her husband.

PS: Had no one ever been to any of these countries? I have, the heat and humidity are horrible. Her hairstyles this week have helped keep the frizzes at bay, and yet she has continued to look professional and lovely.

Wow stunning glamorous are the words to describe this. Love the bag jewellery all the accessories. This has been put together with attention to detail. Would love the dress for myself. This is a winner. Mary

  25. This gown is stunning. It drapes beautifully over her figure, wonderful in motion and sat beautifully photographed. The color is divine, but the fabric is simply splendid. Love the bow ribbon shoulders, adds interest. The small satin covered clutch is fabulous, the shoes perfect. I am not a fan of this jewellery, regardless it works well and looks great. Her hair is immaculately groomed and has been the entire trip, it has been styled to cope with the weather elements, the hairdresser has done a stellar job. Very elegant, regal and simply beautiful.
