What strikes me is that the older generation royals like princess Margaretha and Marie-Astrid are making more effort to have a decent hairstyle.
Are the younger ones not visiting the hairdresser or even doing something themselves ( like buying/using a hairdryer?) even for such a important event. Maybe everything has to do with vanity?
Looks like the weather was good, everybody is dressed summery and in bright colours, and a good mood, that's what matters! -Anna-

I honestly never engage in judging someone because of their looks but I wholeheartedly agree with you. Manners and consideration are terribly lacking.

  3. Everyone looks happy and appear to be enjoying the wedding. As for fashion, the beautiful bride, and she is radiant, has a gown with a gorgeous train but I am not a fan of the dress overall because of the bodice. As for the other ladies--Princess Claire looks fabulous as do all the other ladies except for Princess Alexandra. Princess Alexandra's dress looks shapeless and, as a result, it is very unflattering. Congratulations to the newlyweds and all the best wishes for their lives togther.

  4. To me the big disappointment is princess Alexandra, too boxy dress, not flattering at all for her. I don't like the bride's dress, I prefer a more simple style.

  5. I've seen the bride's dress on another site where there is a back view and a front view. It has been summed up by some commentators (on that site) as vulgar.
Hope the temperature wasn't too low otherwise she would have been freezing.
For me, I think it must have been been embarrasing for the groom to have his new wife half naked in a church.
However, many of the invited ladies to the wedding are nicely decked out.

    1. Given that getting married in a church before God means nothing to 40 year olds and under, don't be surprised.

  6. Pss Marie Astrid, looks very feminine and pretty in her gown. Pss Alexandra's dress seems to have no shape, very unflattering. The bride's veil is beautiful. Her gown, it is an acquired taste, obviously she loved it, that's all that counts.

The kindest thing I can say about the bride's gown is that there seems to be a lot going on. And no tiara?

A few of the guests look so different that I almost did not recognize them....namely Prince Felix of Luxembourg.

    But Claire looked lovely.

Money and status certainly/apparently doesn’t automatically buy you style !!
    Who dressed these ladies ?!
I don’t want to be rude, but are there no mirrors to be had !

I think Princess Claire is the winner here the bride's dress is mediocre Mary

  11. Apart from Princess Claire and the older lady in the orange patterned dress ( Marie Astrid?) everyone else looks bad with Princess Alexandra as the worst.

  12. Frankly, the only person who needs to be happy with the wedding dress is the bride. I personally don't have a problem with it, it is different, yes, but that is what I find charming. I think there are some pretty dresses here, great for a spring wedding.

It’s unclear to me what the dress code was for this wedding. Ranges from “vulgar” (aptly described by the other site) to beach-side (flip-flop type sandals and thong shoe ware) to anything goes. Royal as an epithet only applies to Marie Astrid.

How happy everyone looks! The bride's gown looks wonderful to me. A modern take on a 17th century silhouette, and she looks wonderful. The mother of the groom also looks very pretty.

Yes completely agree. And the bright colors and summary styles of the guests are certainly in keeping with a wedding celebration in South America.

To me, it looks like a Hollywood wedding in the way the bride is dressed .... more than a royal European church wedding!
I wonder too, why the bride does not wear a family tiara from either Luxembourg or Liechtenstein ?

My comment not posted from yesterday? This woman wants a church wedding, yet flouts rules and wears stripper type dress in a place of religion. Go figure. aaa

    1. @aaa. "a stripper type dress" you said. Good observation.
I don't understand how a beautiful woman can present herself half naked for an important religious ceremony.
And as one blogger said on another site ......... "looks like she's ready in advance for the bed chamber".

    2. Because this generation and younger don't give a flip about God or Christianity. Getting married in a church keeps mom and dad happy and keeps the money flowing.

I'm surprised that younger ladies did not bother with their hair, clothes nor footwear. Too casual, mismatched, like they didn't care how they look [if this was the best, then...).Princess Claire and Princess Alexandra were especially disappointing. Alexandra has gained weight or her dress was very unfortunate choice, same about her shoes.
The bride looks lovely. Not sure about those gigant bows (saw pictures from the back and the bows looked silly and childish).

About the dress code - how it can be explained:
As most gentlemen seem to wear dark suit, the code could be "dark suit" or "business suit" - it is defined differently in different countries. In such cases the groom often dresses "one step up" as he does here, a type of morning suit. I do not know how it is called in English as we can see the wedding is in the evening. The two Luxembourg princes are wearing white or off-white suits - perhaps a summer solution similarly to certain military uniforms black/blue in winter and white in summer (as William had during his Caribbean tour).
When gentlemen wear business suit, ladies wear long (or short) dress according to the season (summer or winter). No gala gowns for ladies, neither tiaras. Some countries even forbid their royal family to take heirloom tiaras out of the country.
But then, as it was a church wedding, ladies should have covered their shoulders (a shawl or jacket or something).
What I wrote above follows mainly European tradition. It is most possible that in South America different dress codes are followed.

The only dresses I liked where those of Princess Marie-Astrid, Princess Margaretha and Princess Claire.
The bridal gown : a medieval inspired milk-maid dress to which a lace veil of another bridal gown has been attached (that's the impression I got). I wonder if in Colombia you are allowed "half-naked" in a church.

Honestly, half-naked?! Are you all looking at different pictures than I am? She is well-covered with an off-the-shoulder bodice, all that is exposed are the tops of her shoulders and her upper chest. Her voluminous sleeves and long veil even cover some of that. I have seen countless examples of strapless wedding gowns with breasts spilling out the top, or gowns with a deep V down to the navel, and all manner of "vulgar" wedding dresses. This is not even close to vulgar, or to half-naked. It is a charming dress, respectfully appropriate for a church wedding.

The men in neatly tailored suits, the colorful ladies with long swirling skirts, nice jewelry, sparkly sandals, and some have a kind of raised headband which I am guessing is a style of traditional local headwear, all are enchanting. A fairy tale wedding. S.M.

Anyway where I live people would not go into any church with "exposed shoulders and upper chest". Maybe it is different in countries where the climate is hot but I don't see people doing this in Spain or Italy f.ex. A little respect is never out of place. This is also something you don't see often in royal families.

Það er ekki ásættanlegt að loka á ákveðnar færslur; Málfrelsi og hugsanafrelsi er það sem þetta blogg fjallar um.
    1) Brúðurin leit hræðilega út með kjólinn, risastórar ermar, of mikið klofið og bara of mikið að gerast.

  23. On another Royal site, there is a full back view of the bride's dress.
Well, to be brief, not a lot to see as the dress has a plunging "V" that goes right down to her waist.
