I probably like this collection of photos of the family the best! They are relaxed and seem very much at ease. I like their casual style, Princess Josephine's dress is just perfect, and Princess Isabella looks so smart in her suit (mum's perhaps?) and high pony tail. Very nice!

    1. And the guys in the photo are looking great also.
Prince Vincent is going to be a heart breaker.
Wish I were 50 or so years younger.
I'd put my name on his waiting list.

  3. More lovely family photos. I can't get over how pretty and how grown up Princess Isabella is---seems like all of a sudden to me. With parents like Mary and Frederik, I guess it's no surprise that they are such a good looking family altogether.

Love this family absolutely my favourite of all, relaxed, happy and love shines. They are very handsome family. The girls have great outfits and Josephine's is just perfect for her, love Isabella's high ponytail. The boys all look smashing. Suz

Perhaps too many events for her birthday, more than the crown prince got for his 50th or the Queen for her 80th!

I like her dress, a touch of colour among monochrome black & white.
Isabella always dressed as an old lady in oversized clothes
    Josephine dress is lovely,

Isabelle's pant suit does not look oversized to me. When the jacket is buttonned it must be just fine. Besides the latest trend especially among the younger generation is the oversized look. I don't like this look either but this is not oversized. The schoulders of the jacket are on the right place .
She looks more and more like her grandmother Queen Margrethe when she was young.

I wonder how come that CP Mary gets so much attention for her birthday more than the Crown prince and more than the queen ?
Is it because they cannot organise a gala diner now with the pandemic ?
Anyway, as beautiful as the photos are it may stop now before it will be boring.

  6. The royal family look like they had a fabulous time. Great photos. I love what Princess Isabella is wearing, she looks splendid. Princess Josephine looks terrific in her pretty dress. The children are certainly growing up.

  8. Princess Isabella's black pants suit is by Paul Smith and is a hand-me-down from Princess Mary's wardrobe.
It was worn by Princess Mary in February 2019 for a Danish charity, cancer event.
Princess Isabella will celebreate her 15th birthday in April of this year.
Have seen another photo of the family on another site and again, Prince Frederik is wearing a suit jacket that is at least two sizes too small for him.

    1. Well I think Princess Isabella looks great and she certainly isn't the first teenager to check out their mother's wardrobe, I know mine have. Her mother has a fabulous wardrobe so why not! The family all look great and Frederik looks as handsome as always.

I don't think CP Frederik is reading this blog, but he has changed his hands position., 😉
CP Mary has made too many changed in her face lately, now she is more a look alike to Prince Joachim's ex-wife Alexandra than earlier to Kate and Marie.

Everyone looks just lovely/ handsome a great, fun family night out. I would love to have been able to raid CP Mary’s closet as a teen! I remember how much fun it was to raid my own mother’s as well as having my daughter raid mine and we are in a much smaller clothing budget category:).

There is a recent sweet tv interview with the 4 kids about their Mom- some excerpts on Instagram with English subtitles.

    https://www.nowtolove.com.au/royals/international-royals/princess-mary-children-birthday-video-70974

Also I love seeing the family resemblances- Christian is very like Mr. Donaldson (CP Mary’s Dad), Isabella - her father/Queen Margrethe, Vincent seems a mix of Prince Henrik (he was a very dashing young man)/Joachim and Mr. Donaldson and Josephine- her mother.

FYI for those wondering- Denmark had quite a few big events during the week in 2018 leading up to CP Fred’s 50th. In addition to the internationally attended white tie banquet, there was his portrait unveiling (it’s 4x larger with his family reflected in a background mirror), the Royal Run (which he personally participated in parts in 5 different cities) and the Jubilee Dinner for his CP Frederik Fund which started the week-long celebrations. Taking place throughout the week ahead as well, Mary’s events seem smaller and more focused on her “causes” or connected with Denmark’s history such as the Crown Princesses exhibit.

Thank you for that link Glo! I had watched the original interview (longer) on IG and hoped that someone could translate it for us. The parts where they are teasing about how they help Mary with pronouncing Danish words looked hilarious (Josephine especially) but is not included in the above clip unfortunately. Still, I appreciate your link and thanks again.

And thank you Helen for sharing these wonderful family photos. Everyone is looking happy and comfortable. I enjoy every photos of the Danish crown prince family, never too much of them.
Why shoul'd I be jealous for Mary's birthday photos? She has not decided to show photos here. I think that Helen is the one and only who decides what to show here and it's our decision what to read. Woul'd it be better to end this comment field like Svensk Damtidning has done because people didn't have any more self control what to write? Please respect Helen's decisions, it's her blog after all. I welcome every photos of every royals.

I agree entirely with Rita and Glo.
Thank you very much, Glo, for the link.
I hope I will have the time to watch the video.
Unfortunately, I am almost always in a hurry, so that I do even have the time to correct my own posts.
Thank you to @ Anon.9:13 too for bringing the IG original interview to our attention.
Yes, surprisingly English and Danish share a common ground as they both are Germanic languages but they had a quite different development throughout the centuries.
That is why Mary probably still find it difficulty to pronounce Danish words correctly and she is right.
Danish is a rather complicated language to learn and speak.
I bet Mary would have learnt Norwegian more easily as it resembles more the original old Germanic prototype language.

Great photos great looking family. Isabella's outfit looks like Mary's hand me downs perhaps it's the recycling environment movement thing these teenagers follow. In saying that it looks ok. Like Josephine & Mary's outfits. Mary

Mary looks so differently on live television than she does in the photo shoots. Weird world we are living in.

  14. What a gorgeous and happy family! Everyone looks relaxed and as if they are having lots of fun. I love the outfits of the princesses--Isabella is very chic and Josephine's dress is pretty and perfect for her age. Love that Isabella finds great outfits to wear while shopping in Mom's fabulous closet (my daughter certainly used my closet and sometimes still does). The young princes look handsome and very smart. I'd love to see the program with English subtitles!

Some people seem to forget (I do not know how intentionally) that CP Mary is much loved and admired both in Denmark and all over the world for her exquisite elegance and her most remarkable work.
She has been given much more attention on her milestone than the Queen or CP Frederick, but I am sure that she can make no decisions on her own for mere obstention.
Nothing would have been issued without the Queen's and the Palace's approval.
I think there has been a lot of coverage for this event not just to celebrate her milestone, but as an ackowlegment for all she has done and still does for her adoptive country.
Indeed it is not so easy so be successful in her position, if you come from the other part of the world and change your life to this extent.
She serves another nation, which has become her home country for so many years,
She had to make an enormours transition to enter royal life and learn how to to be a Royal lady and , above all, a future Queen.
It Is not something any woman is able to do.
She might have stepped back or had hesitations of any sort, but look, here she is more regal , professional and composed than some other royal ladies born into royalty and well acquainted with that kind of life.
If I looked at Mary and Fred without knowing who they are, I would bet Mary is the born royal of the two.
I think that Mary has been given full coverage to depict every aspect of her life, from the most formal occasions to the most informal and personal ones.
I see this show took place in Karlstrup, which is a village and the name of the Copenhagen Airport.
    I know it well.
    Denmark Is fantastic.
