    2. Hardly! It’s no more such than it’s an outfit chosen by Serena or Oprah. Dial back your racism if you can.

Meghan easy to dress and tries different styles. She does however NEED a very good stylist and a seamstress. Designers need to ensure the clothes they send her are properly fitted Or else what’s the point of the partnership: She is not dress her best AND the designers product isn’t showcase at its best.

  5. I usually like the simple designs the duchess chooses but this dress is not a good idea. She just has a bit too much baby weight still for it to work at the moment. She should put it back in the cupboard for a while and then take it out again and revue its suitability. Other than that it would be quite nice if that deep U neckline was very much narrower. The way the dress fits at the bodice front sides it looks to me like it was so tight that it was pulling that deep U shape apart and even the boning could not make it stay in the right shape.

  17. That´s not a good dress. Looks very bulky (skirt and train) and at the same time rather skimpy (low cut and huge slit). The straps aren´t attractive, and the bodice is too tight on her. I don´t like her hair either. The whole look says "look at me", it´s way over the top, and while I like the vibrant red colour, I think a much simpler design would have been better since the colour is already a statement. Her shoes are pretty.
A much simpler, toned-down look would have been better for the sake of showing humbleness (given the controversy around her), and for the sake of not taking the attention away from the people actually recognized with this gala - after all she´s only giving the award, not receiving it.

  26. This is a Hollywood dress. A badly fitted one at that.
    Hair is nice and polished.
    Maquillage and jewels are good.
    Straps are too thin.
Bust cups are poorly fitted. Bodice is too tight resulting in pull lines in several places and her back hanging out over the fabric. The front plunge also seems to be under strain.
The attachment of the train makes her stomach and hips look bulky.
It is too much dress and simultaneously too little.
Her forma/ gala dresses continuously disappoint. I am starting to think that overly tight is how she likes and insist on things to fit. This is not a post baby phenomenon, nor a single designer problem. But it does her no favors at all. Much as I don’t think she wants a stylist, I think one for at least formal events would be her friend.. she could look much much better than this.

  38. Most inappropriate color and dress to wear when honoring Veteran's, its about the men and women that served, not about Markle. The back fat and around the sides is disgusting. Wearing poppies is not an American 'thing', its British. Those two get it wrong at every step, but when you are out to peddle lies and cut down family on both sides, I guess the reality is, you never get it right. Sad for the children of the union, sad for the family, especially the Queen and royal family. BeBe

    4. Bebe, you are nothing but a disgusting troll. If we are being honest, more women than not who have worn dresses with a similar cut have probably had the same issue with their bodies. The difference is that they are not thrown on the internet to be picked apart by strangers. We also have unrealistic expectations of everyone in the public eye. Don't body shame. You are terrible for doing that, especially to a woman that gave birth five months ago. Why is red the wrong color for her to wear? When did you make up that rule? While we are discussing your misinformed self, why did you assume Americans don't have Poppies? As FITZHUGH stated, the Poppy tradition began in the early 1920s in the US. Beginning in 1940 and ending in 1961, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) had movie starlets of the day promote the Buddy Poppy program. There was a new Buddy Poppy Girl each year. Bigger stars lent their name to the program in the earlier years. Americans bring out the Poppies on Memorial Day, which is the end of May. That is the day we honor those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country. November 11 is Veterans Day. It is the day we honor all our country's veterans. Do your research before going off. Lastly, your comment about their children was out of line. Most people have the decency to limit their hatred to the adults. Children should always be out of bounds. ~d

  39. This dress is beautiful. Red is a lovely color on Meghan and a perfect color for this day. As mentioned, there are fit issues. If it had been a little larger on the top, it would have been stunning. I can't understand the fit issues at all. The reason the dress is not fitted on the skirt is because she is still carrying baby weight. The dress is creating the shape, not her body. With volume on the bottom, the bodice must be fitted. Again, being small busted, the dress is designed to give her shape. The design is great for her, it is just the fit issue causing the problem. For those that think this is "too Hollywood" or would be better at the Met Gala, excuse me while I roll my eyes. I have said this many times. Your idea of Hollywood is wrong. A gown like this is not that unusual, with or without the train. The Met Gala is very OTT. This gown is not. Military Galas are quite formal. My sister is a military wife. An event like this would be this formal. I realize it is a form of sport to cut Meghan down as fast and hard as possible for as many things as one can find, and you get bonus points for imaginary faults and spreading falsehoods. This gown would be considered beautiful on someone else. The criticisms are due to the fact that it is being worn by Meghan. How hard it is to move on if you really dislike her so much? That is what reasonable people do. ~d

If an actual royal representative was dressing like this I would say well if royals can’t go for exaggerated looks-look at Máxima!- who can? But they’re no longer representatives of any royal family so that prerogative doesn’t work for me. She wanted an impactful dress for her pictures and documentary, that’s ok. But we have every right to believe it was completely ott

      Delete
    3. My father is a retired military officer and I can honestly say that at any function we ever attended with him, this type, style of gown was never worn to such an event, it is very inappropriate. The front bodice of gowns worn would never be styled this way or for that matter the overtly abundance of fabric leading to a train at the back.

I've seen Meghan looking 100% better than this. She's a beautiful girl and if she just returned to some of the fashion she wore pre wedding and immediately post wedding, she would be doing OK. At the time I looked forward to watching her, but since their New York trip where she wore humongous over sized clothes I've been really disappointed. I think she's become really self conscious because of all the bad press and is overcompensating. JMHO.

I want to like this gown but I can't. Being a fan of sleek and streamlined gowns, this is a fail for me, my personal preference only. I realize this is the design and tailoring of this gown but it is just too flouncy, with bulky fabric, the side and back profile especially highlights this. The widely cut curvature of the bustline , with its deep plunge and lumpy darts. is not enhancing to me either. The long train at the back of the gown is excessive and again heavy. Hair pulled back , is harsh looking, regardless though, she carries this off well, soft hairstyle would have softened the overall look. Makeup wise, eye makeup is severe, not how she normally makes up her eyes.
Her shoes are divine, beautiful red satin, love them.
Honoring others, I feel it would have been more appropriate for a more sedate gown. This gown would be more appropriate for example, an opening night, regardless its very attention drawing at this event.

  57. Janet said the essence: "I am the wife of a retired military officer and I can assure the style of this dress is not anything you would see at a formal military function." - of an organization that "focuses on breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness ...". This dress is crying loudly for attention from every perspective, in the front and backwards, at an occasion totally unsuited for this. The gown could be appropriate elsewhere, but only if it fitted the wearer. Baby fat or simply bodily characteristics, this is none of our business, the only question is if it fits well. This dress, too tight everywhere with bust cups that look like candy cones, does not fit well. (-Ann.)

  58. This dress is a very bad fit on her, it is a shame, which reflects on the designer how she allowed it to go out of her studio, very bad advertising.
The dress would looked beautiful on Audrey Hepburn, someone slimmer.
    Maybe Meaghan is pregnant?
Her tan is not even to complement such a low dress, showing white patches near her breast on the side.
Sadly this is just not her style to shine.
But this is not an occasion to shine, the service men and women are, aren't they.

    1. Agree with you in most points, Sharni, but not about slimness. I think one does not have to be perfect or slim to be able to wear a dress like this. It simply has to be fitted to your body, breast cups very much included. Besides being a very inappropriate choice for the occasion, it is simply bad design. (-Ann.)

  59. I can see Prince Harry attending the gala as he has a connection with the military. It is probably the one thing that still makes him happy. Megan is way over dressed and accomplished what she wanted, the attention drawn to her. A couple that didn't want to be in the limelight sure has flipped. Personally think their appearances are all for show. Since they left the monarchy, there has not been on thing they have accomplished. Of note, look at Prince William and Earthshot and awarding the prizes to the winners. That was a new endeavor for him.

    1. They never said they wanted to be out of the limelight. What you’re seeing is what they wanted. Choosing events in which they could bring their personal photographer to share glamour shots of them both afterwards and content for their documentary that, as emails have shown, has been in the plans since 2018.

  60. Meghan never fails to look garish and pretentious. This is magnified by her ill fitting and inappropriate dress. This doesn't mean she can't wear a long red dress - she has done so before and it looked lovely.

    1. Totally agree. She's not at the Met.
And as usual always holding Harry's hand like he was a child.

  61. Meghan's hair, makeup and accessories are lovely and Meghan herself looks beautiful.

In my opinion this gown doesn't suit Meghan because she doesn't have the stature or the figure to pull it off. Very few women do, those that do are an anomaly to nature, females who are well above average height and well below average weight for height - models!

Meghan has a lovely figure (baby weight or not) and she has worn some beautiful gowns that have suited her figure and stature perfectly and she will probably do so again BUT the most important thing is that Meghan felt beautiful and happy. Secondly her husband obviously adores her and thinks she is the most beautiful woman in the world.

They may not be everyone's favourite couple but I reckon the Princess of Wales would be very, very proud of the type of husband her son has become because right or wrong he has his wife's back.

PS. The Duchess of Cambridge would not have looked nearly as amazing in her gold gown if she was anywhere between 5-10cm shorter (2-4").

  62. Tasteless dress. Inappropriate for the occasion. Nice shoes and jewelry.

  63. Looks like they show up to these events to get footage for their film enterprise. Their film crew were following them the whole time. I guess everything is just a prop for these two. As for the drress, ott and not fit the wearer or occasion.
