    1. Agreed. The Queen seems to have softened her hairstyle a bit and, along with her gorgeous dress and jewels, it is just so lovely.

My oh my, now isn't the Queen the belle of the ball, sorry dinner.
If it were a ball, her dance card would be full.
And Prince Frederik has put his best foot forward with his dinner suit.
I know that Madam Büdenbender is not royal (the lady in red in the photos) , but I'll take a big risk and make a brief/short comment on her gown ......... perfect, impressive.

    2. On such an occasion I don't think one should make a distinction between the Queen and Mrs Büdenbender in commenting or not !! The difference in style and age is however quite significant, and therefore it is quite difficult to comment. The dress of the queen looks good, but personally I don't like the heaviness of most the royal jewels. I don't like her necklace plus a broach. The German lady looks lovely.

    3. @MaryT It's only a few days since I was pulled into order by a fellow blogger (not our administrator) for making a fashion comment on this site about a person who was not royal. The message I was given was that there are other sites (non royal) where I should make my fashion comment.
So for the moment I am taking a risk and hopefully will not have the rules reread to me again.

  4. A beautiful looking QM; this lace, deep green dress looks wonderful on her. Personally I would have left the brooch out or worn it somewhere around the waist, as now 'there's too much going on' in the upper part and the brooch overwhelms the stunning necklace.

    1. Agree totally. Gorgeous gown but that brooch is very distracting. I think I would have gone for a necklace with emeralds and a much smaller one too so that it just complemented the beautiful neckline now it is fighting for attention. Maybe if she just left off the drops on the necklace it would have done the trick. I agree that the brooch at the waist or even on the handbag which is unusual but it would fabulous there.

    2. The pearl poiré tiara and the the rest of the parur (necklace, earrings, broach) is the most important tiara in the Danish collection and only ever worn by the queen. To wear this to a state visit to Germany signals the importance of the relationships between the two countries. The jewellery was chosen first, the a matching dress. I like this green dress very much and the Queen looks just as regal as she is supposed to.

    3. @Ldyofthemanor: In the above two comments, no one is questioning whether the Danish Queen looks royal or not, nor the meaning/importance of the jewelry. Both writers suggest that the brooch is too close to the chain...nothing else

    4. @a reader of this blog. I know this is a fashion blog, so naturally most viewers look at the dress. Suggesting taking pearl drops off the necklace or wearing the broach at the waist or on a handbag shows a lack of understanding of the significance of these jewels, the why and how they are worn.
The broach is technically a stomacher and is worn exactly where it was ment to go. I may look crowded and cluttered but this is royal gala

  6. Élégantes toutes les deux ; j'adore la robe de la Reine qu'elle a déjà portée avec son magnifique collier ; sa couleur verte lui va à merveille comme d'ailleurs le rouge/corail sur madame Büdenbender !

  7. She really is the Queen of Queens!
In a relaxed way still very impressive!
And indeed, the presidents wife is lovely too,

  8. I just like that Queen Margarete is the only one in all the royal ladies (at least that I know of) still wearing a stomacher brooch. You don't see this very often in our times.

  10. In the first three photos Queen Margrethe's brooch has five pearls, but in the other photos one of them, the central one, is missing. What must have happened? I hope it has not been lost.

  11. We have seen the gown many times before, on the big galla dinner at Christiansborg Castle.
    - The Queen wears it with her big silver fox fur and the emerald parure...

At first I thought it was a new gown, but it is the lightning that makes it look darker.

  12. Flat out WOW from HM!!! She looks magnificent--her green ball gown is beautiful and she is glittering with jewels. She is also wearing my favorite pearl and diamond tiara, the Pearl Poire Tiara--I have been hoping HM would wear it soon. And she chose to wear the beautiful stomacher brooch too. The German First Lady is very elegant her gorgeous red gown. I also noticed that CP Frederik's bowtie is staying straighter for Mom (hahaha)--he certainly looks handsome and quite dashing in his tuxedo.

  13. No one looks more regal than Queen Margrethe in a gala outfit, Gorgeous. Unfortunately it's not allowed to bring the magnificent emerald jewels out of Denmark, as they are a part of the crown jewels. / ML

    1. Ok. That explains why she did not choose her emeralds. Pity but I am sure we will see this dress again in Denmark it is too beautiful to just sit in her cupboard and then she can wear it with the emeralds.
