On November 2, 2021, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands arrived at Abu Dhabi International Airport. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will attend the Netherlands’ National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai on 3 November 2021. On this occasion, the King will officially open the Netherlands Pavilion. Today, the King and Queen will attend a number of bilateral meetings in Abu Dhabi.
ZIMMERMANN polka-dot print dress
Oh, she left her nice hair at home. What a pity!
ReplyDeleteYes, quite right! Not a fan of the dotted dress either. I do like the shoes.
DeleteRenee
Well people, its almost time that you stop with this thing if her hair! You are heavy and boring!!
DeleteShe looks very nice with this dress a bit retro, i like the colour too, but she has shown better outfits than this...
I agree with Ana and Renee. Her hair is unhealthy looking and not attractive. This dress is not flattering.
DeleteMeghan
She always dresses for the occasion..long dress and hair hanging down....to respect the Arabian culture...my favourite Queen of style
DeleteHere she will have plenty of opportunities to dress in oriental style, in the choice of fabrics or style.
ReplyDeleteTrès joli cet imprimé à pois ; il faut quand même reconnaître qu'il lui va beaucoup mieux que celui de Natan à grosses fleurs vu tout dernièrement à Rome ; beaucoup plus fluide et donc moins pesant !
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks perfect from head to toe!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think she has got her outfit right for this visit.
DeleteIs the shawl on standby for when she is forced to cover her head?
Hope she doesn't go over the top with her outfits.
Wouldn't necessarily be appreciated in this country.
She has already been separated from King Willem-Alexander so that he could attend a 'mans-only' meeting.
A meeting 'ladies-only' was arranged with la princesse Fatima bint Mubarak Al-Ketbi (information from a French royal site).
Play it cool dear Maxima but above all, enjoy your visit.
I think she looks fine, this dress has a very good silhouette, perfect length , it’s modest and doesn’t have an excessive amount of fabric, like is the case in some of its kind . I can’t see the bad hair as somebody noted above, not a clear picture. Now, if she only stop carrying that useless and silly shawl …. Not sure why she does…
ReplyDeleteCherry
She carries the shawl for the same reason she carries the leather gloves year round. I am assuming it is her idea of a regal look. I agree with you about her dress. I am not mad about this dress at all. ~d
DeleteI think the reason for the ever present shawl is air conditioning! It can get quite cold if you not moving much. Km
DeleteI wished the Queen would wear her hat on that occasion. (Like at the "Zimmermann"-picture above...)
ReplyDeleteWell it's a nice dress, but not for Máxima. It makes her so huge. And the colour is not the best either for her I think. At the other hand very suitable for this visit to a Moslim country, where women are supposed to cover a lot
ReplyDeleteRespectfully disagree with your view that she looks “ huge”, I think she looks tall because she is, she has curves like many women, she is absolutely not overweight.
DeleteGenerally I don’t like many of her sartorial choices, but I don’t see why she would have to make herself look smaller, she carries her frame rather well.
Cherry
We don't dress in order to look different, or look like Influencer or models. She looks big, because she is big. And this hair-whining going on endlessly is boring. She has thin hair *and* she likes to wear it open, although they are thin, full stop. Every day extensions, in order to look like a shampoo ad? No way. (-Ann)
DeleteBeautiful dress on Maxima and shoes are spot on. - Siri
ReplyDeleteNo, the shoes are not spot on….. these shoes make her legs and ankles heavy. Lovely shoes, but not for her. Too fragile and heels too thin for a big woman.
DeleteLily T.
Agree with you, Siri, and respectfully disagree, Lily. I think the shoes are both gorgeous in themselves and look good on Maxima. This length of dress would not look good without a high heel as demonstrated by the model with the hideous white boots! There is no reason why tall women cannot wear heels just as short women can wear flats if they want. I like the dress itself but like Rainha Leonor, think the start of a formal visit is a great excuse for a hat.
Delete@Annie M. I do not think that tall woman cannot wear high heels….. but Maxima is a big woman, not willowly or slender. These pointy, narrow shoes with ultrahigh heels make her ankles and legs look heavy. Her feet look too big for the shoes….Legs, feet and shoes are out of proportion. Besides that, she manages to look always utterly uncomfortable and unelegant on the most elegant of shoes…..
DeleteLily T.
For a primarily business visit which this is, I think Maxima is appropriately dressed. Her dress ticks all the correct boxes of decorum and a bit of style.
ReplyDeleteI'm more interested in wondering if the King piloted the plane to Abu Dhabi, as he often does on foreign visits.

No parece se arreglo el pelo, me da la impresion es el peinado que tenia el otro dia en Roma, mas despeinado y aplastado.
ReplyDeleteEl vestido brazos cubiertos, la largura del vestido corresponde a este evento en
Dubai.
Thought the comment about leaving her good hair at home was pretty funny, but sadly true. A hat would have been nice to cover the hair. Not a fan of the dress, the shiny nylons, but the shoes are acceptable. The king looks kind of odd in the bright blue suit, a darker color perhaps. cami
ReplyDeleteI really don't get her passion for mustard and tobacco brown.
ReplyDeleteEach of us has her own preferred color... Whats wrong with that??
Delete😂 Tobacco brown can look great with bright accessories. Have always found it difficult to find anyone or anything looking good in mustard coloured clothing. Sadly it seems to be a favourite for outfits for small girls just now too.
DeleteI suspect a lot of people here do not know how extensions work and are not able to distinguish them from wigs, which are quite different things.
ReplyDeleteExtensions and hair pieces are maily laid on one's s natural hair, as in the case of the halo/ clip extensions and then covered with other strains of natural hair, whereas other pieces are attached at the back of one's hair, as in the case of pony tails and buns.
Wigs are a one piece and are laid on one's scalp or natural hair and the effect is totally different to a sharp eye.
Here I do not see any wigs.
Should Maxima wear a short lacquered helmet to be accepted?
I think she wants to keep her dress long and thick, since her natural hair has lost its
thickness probably due to bleachings.
I myself have sometimes said she should firstly try to use good haircare products like Olaplex to restore broken bonds and reinvigorate her damaged hair, but this seems to be something she is not willing to do.
By the way, extensions and hair pieces are used by girls and young women as well nowadays.
I like her outfit too
Lastly, saying she Is "huge"skims over bodyshaming.
She is tall and well shaped, that's all.
P.
I think What makes her look “ huge” here is the position of the camera, I.e. low, looking up, which makes the skirt long und the upper body shorter.
DeleteAlso that the man beside her is shorter.
( saying “ huge” has nothing tot do with bodyshaming: a fact is a fact and not an ordeal!)

DeleteI have read this word "huge" in a comment where no comparison between Maxima and someone else was being made and pics quality was not mentioned either.
Then I have read that she is a "big woman" in another comment and this was not a compliment in my view.
I guess this is a soft way to do bodyshaming IMO, which I reject.
In addition, I think Maxima is not overweight at all.
She is well proportioned and tall.
A beautiful woman.
P.
I meant : "strands of natural hair..."
DeleteP.
Any comment on the size of her body is not appropriate, unless it is to comment on her height. The only acceptable comments are about her fashion choices. Saying her size prohibits her from wearing these shoes, for example, is shaming. Maxima is not a petite woman. She is tall. She has gained weight as many women do in middle age. None of this prohibits her choice of shoe. Her poor fashion choices have to do with the designers she chooses (Natan), and in my opinion, lack of understanding of how to dress her body to its best advantage. Her hair is in poor condition and constantly pointing it out has no useful value to the conversation. Complementing a good hair day would be nice though. P. has very valid points about hair pieces. Hair extensions are used more than most of you realize. They can be permanently installed or be clip in. Maxima benefits from the use of extensions, but doesn't use them all the time. She was quite ill a few years ago, and her health could be playing a role in the condition of her hair. Since we don't know, it is particularly cruel to continually comment on its condition. ~d

DeleteThank you.
You are right, extensions are so widely used by now and they often work on Maxima when she uses them.
The point is that it not so easy to restore damaged hair, it takes a long time and constant treatments and care.
Blonde hair is particularly hard to keep as I know by my personal experience.
I know how extensions work not because I am a hairdresser, but because I sometimes use them myself, even though my hair is healthy.
I must say they help save the situation when I am in a hurry and want to look fine in a short time.
Ok, I must admit I have a penchant for whatever is hair related, from dying to treatment products.
You are right too about the heels.
I do not see why a tall woman cannot wear them if she wants to.
True ,some wrong fashion choices probably depend on the stylists Maxima chooses.
Anyway, I really like Q.Maxima , she is a lady of substance and I also feel she has a great heart.
Hope we will see a tiara moment during this trip.
P.
She is still saving up for a hairdresser!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress. I love the color. The velvet shoes are perfect for fall.
ReplyDeleteE.B.B.
Hair, bad - dress, strange - the King, very blue.

It is in the 90s and humid in AbuDhabi. Whose hair looks good in that weather?
ReplyDeleteMaxima is of normal weight, especially for a woman likely in menopause. She is 50 remember. I would much rather see a public figure at normal weight, than one who presents the image of a pre-pubescent waif.
Maxima likely carries a shawl because she gets cold in air conditioning. If you knew anyone from Latin America, where air conditioning is not ubiquitous, it might not seem such a huge anomaly. And maybe, she just likes gloves. I do.
The modesty of her dress is appropriate to her environment.
She is not at G20 to be a fashion icon. She's there to represent the UN's inclusive finance initiative. Prior to her marriage, this was an accomplished woman in a serious profession which she has continued to exercise since her marriage into the royal family of the Netherlands.
All the catty comments really fail to take in that this is a woman of substance.
As for Willem Alexander's suit. Have you not noticed that this man likes his color too? He wears what he likes. Good on him.
ReplyDelete@Carolina, it’s shocking that you are giving lessons of proper comments as yours are generally, ironic and rude. The person above (P) was talking about hair, and giving her opinion without being disrespectful. You may choose not to read her, but saying “ And now we have a hairdresser in the blog” and dictating what people should write about, is just condescending. Please don’t talk about responding without animosity… the irony!!!!!!!

DeleteThank you, but you see, there is a troll changing names and languages all the time not to mention HER constant animosity and not bright questions about royals and their private lives.
You can see her masterpiece about Princess Sofia of Sweden using the other nick.
Yes , she gives lessons of proper comments when she is being rude all the time and probably does not understand much of what is really being said.
Thank you again.
