On November 3, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will attend the Netherlands’ National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai. Before visiting Expo, the King and Queen paid a working visit to a Pure Harvest ‘smart farm’ near Sweihan in Abu Dhabi. This high-tech greenhouse in the desert produces tomatoes, strawberries and lettuce in a sustainable manner. The technologies and expertise needed for the greenhouse were supplied by Dutch companies.

The top is OK The pants are too baggy and too long. They should have been in green or cream and not in the same pattern as the top. The sandals (seen on another site) seem to be used and old.

    1. One of the joys of this site for me is that people explain why I don't like something, even if I can't put a finger on it myself. They often also give constructive suggestions. Thank you, MJ, for the suggestion of plain trousers. That would improve the outfit massively as the blouse is nice.

    3. MJ and Annie M, you both said it perfectly. Great comments.
Such promise in this outfit, if she could just get a stylist!

  3. Très jolis motifs très frais de cet ensemble en lin mais il n'avantage pas du tout la silhouette de Maxima ; quel contraste avec la robe vert foncé de la jeune femme qui marche à ses côtés !

Farm outfit from top to toe. Without any need to stir a finger, of course.

    2. I love our dear Maxima too much to use the word 'scarecrow'.
So in the kindest of ways I'll say "it will certainly keep the birds away from eating the crop."

    Nice pyjama sets.

  7. I really dislike this print. It looks like a scan code. Also head to toe of it isn't very flattering. The fabric looks dull.

I first saw the top and thought this would make a nice midi dress.....until the full length picture. The trousers do Maxima no favours and make her look larger than she is. She has a good figure it seems a shame to swamp it - some slimmer line slacks in green or cream may be better.
Picture 4 is a lovely one - this couple smile with their eyes! Always nice to see them. J

I do not know why Máxima changed the original model. Short jacket instead of knee length and puffed trousers instead of flared. She lookes a bit pompous now.

I'm in the minority, but I do like the print and would even have liked the whole outfit if the pair of trousers would have been less wide. Having QM's picture taken will someone's behind her (pic 5) makes the whole picture visually even bulkier.

I also like the outfit and print, and agree with your comments, especially that the pants should have been narrower. I also noticed the unfortunate photo optics when I first looked at the photos.

Plain tailored khaki trousers would have worked so much better with the print just for the top. It's too much and not flattering my opinion.

I won’t dislike this outfit if worn for a nice stroll on the beach walk, or for a get together at home, it has a loungewear vibe. The print is entirely too much for a business casual outfit, and although I do love palazzo pants, this are way too wide. The style of the pictured model with the longer blouse and slimmer pants is much better, but either way I don’t think that it would be a winner for Máxima.

My opinion is that the outfit looks like something worn in home for comfort, not for an occasion where you are representing an entire country. georgia
