  3. No, just NO!!! Also, Maxima needs to stop wearing platform shoes--I wish she would use someone to advise her about fashion or get a new advisor if she has one. The only thing I can say is the blue color of the gown is a pretty shade of blue for Max. I can't figure what's going on with Sonja's gown--is the colorful top a jacket or part of the gown? The blue is gorgeous and Sonja looks wonderful in that deep blue--but the top/jacket is...not working for me. At least if the long sleeves of blue sticking out were cut off/not showing I would like the gown--but that top/jacket and those sleeves are not a happy pairing. W-A has those puddling trousers again! Maybe he can get some advice on the tailoring of trouser legs from my fashion award winner, King Harald. Harald is beautifully attired and looks marvelous.

    1. Why should she get a style advisor? To please us? lol
She only needs to be happy in her choices. And she almost always radiates joy.

  4. I agree, the dress is ugly and Queen Maxima's eye makeup is too dark. I do not like Queen Sonja dress, the pattern is too strong and the frill around the waist and the arm is not flattering, it only makes up look shorter.

  7. I don't know what to say. Extraordinary? Courageous? A bit like "Startrek"? Let's say, Queen Maxima's hair looks beautiful!

  8. I love how Maxima's hair is styled. The dress is just awful.

  9. Wow, this dress is tacky. It only works in a Las Vegas kind of way. However, it is slimming on her, if there is an up side.

  10. Sadly the dress is not a fashion statement; a few too many holes, a bit slutty; dare I say that in polite company(Tabby)

    1. And I wonder what thoughts flashed through Queen Sonja's mind when she first saw it ?

  11. I think Sonja's royal blue gown would be lovely on its own (without the bed-jacket) with the addition of a sparkling necklace. On the other hand, Maxima's Claes Iversen gown is stunning! Almost sci-fi futuristic, modern, fun, sexy, classy, and elegant all at the same time - it's iconic. For some reason the cut-outs framed with gold embellishments remind me of sunflowers against the sky blue of the dress, perhaps reminiscent of a Van Gogh painting? S.M.

    1. I agree. I also quite like this dress. Just the belt is a tad too tight I think. Her make-up and jewelry are terrific.

    1. On this site with postings of my dear and lovable Queen Maxima, the question is often asked "can it get worse?".
I think today we have an answer.

  13. If there had to be any holes, then only the ones around the neckline at most.
If all the holes were necessary, then this dress is not for a royal event like this one. Sexy peek-a-boo seems inappropriate to me for this particular occasion.
With no holes this dress would look the best. The colour is beautiful with gold embroidery, and the shape and silhouette is very complementary on Maxima. She looks very nice from the neck up.

  19. The open circles around the neckline would have been enough. It does not work in the sleeves. In the skirt of the dress perhaps a few of the little golden circles. The golden belt is a good choice here. The light blue color in combination with the gold is beautiful.

  20. The ice blue colour of M’s dress, I think, is wonderfull.
From a distance the gold embroidery is lovely too, until you see it is “ heavy metal”, too heavy on this dress.
Claes Iversen repeats the same idea over and over again: simple designs upgraded with metal things: not a great designer.
    And please Maxima, no belt!

  21. Do i like the dress....hmm no, but the colour is good. Overall i think QM looks stunning - the shape flatters her height & figure, the hairstyle both during the day events & evening takes years off her and she always brings a 'wow ' factor that not everyone is blessed with! J

  26. What a fashion statement. Máxima is the only one daring to wear this kind of exorbitant evening gowns. Sonja's dress is quite boring, esp the printed top part.

  29. I admire QM for her 'out of the box' choices, although many are not to my liking. It's easy to play safe all the time, but indeed why not try something different.

This dress grows on me the more I have a look at it. The ice blue combined with the gold is stunning, make-up and hair are spot on and the dress fits QM well. One thing which I don't like is the hole near the right elbow. There it looks weird when the arm isn't straight.

By far not my favourite evening gown, but she wears it well.

QS fashion choices during this visit are a bit disappointing to me. Where she usually looks 'modern', I find her choices during the past days somewhat old fashioned.

  30. I have got to say, I like this gown on Maxima. It looks like it was made with her in mind. It has all the whimsy and dazzle that she loves. The colors are very complimentary to her. Maxima is also wearing a better version of the gown than the model is. The lining of her dress is much better in color than the model's, and there are far less cut-outs. I am also greatly relieved that she restrained herself to one thin belt. I hate her shoes. The platforms need to go. They are dated and she should invest in a more modern pair. She has her trusty shawl again, and I am not sure if it matches. The photos are depicting a variety of tones. ~d

  31. Dear dear, Maxima found her hairbrush again and it looks really good groomed but still nonchalant . However she has lost her eyelash brush now. I don't mind very heavy mascara but what I do mind is the clumped together eyelash look. She needs to learn to brush her eyelashes apart between the many coats of mascara she puts on. That would look so much better.
For both royal ladies "NO" The chainmail dress could have worked with a far more intelligent amount and placement of the chains and rings. Queen S. should confine that frilled and pleated floral monster to the dustbin. She would have looked stunning enough in the simplicity of that royal blue gown on its own. It looks to me like she discovered when she put the dress on that horror of horrors due to one of the side effects of enforced staying at home every day all day, it did not fit any more and she grabbed the nearest summer suit jacket to quickly cover up the evidence.

  33. Seeing as the location of the concert was held at the (Edvard) MUNCH Museum, I feel her choice of this gown was perfect for the setting -- modern and artistic. Love that she makes bold choices with her outfits.

  34. I do wonder if she will wear the dress again? There is surely only a short period of time where it will be appropriate For her? Its a lovely colour and the belt doesn’t distract for once. It suits her in its way out way but not sure if I like it. It wouldn’t surprise me if one of the daughters wears it in the next few years km

  35. I'm in the love it camp. I think it's great - different, the colour and cut suit her. I think she has the personality to carry it off.

I don't have any strong feelings about Queen Sonja's outfit - quite like the electric blue.

  36. Sorry, ich finde das Kleid klasse und es ist wie gemacht für Maxima. Und auch Sonja sieht gut aus und es ihr Stil.

  37. I'm fine with the dress and did not find it scandalous (most of the holes have skin coloured lining anyway if one looks v carefully)
However, aren't concerts supposed to be formal events? And black tie is the minimum requirement? This dress doesn't look black tie to me, more like formal daywear

  38. Daring dress for sure! Love the shade of blue, but the holes are a bit much. Seems like Queen Max is experimenting with various silhouettes and designers. Not sure if she has a go-to fashion house or style? - TL

    1. "No go to a fashion house or style" That is precisely what is interesting about her, instead of predictable style or designer, and hence boring...

  39. Our CLAUDIA Pegas or Meiling, or our lady with the silk hand painted designa from Luis St in Port of Spain, they would have done a much better design. Come to Trinidad Queen Máxima and get on board with our fantastic designers here. They will surely do a much better designers and make you look like the Queen.

  40. I don't know why I think she looks the best she has for ages, I know the dress is over the top.
I think it is the colour that shines on her and the style suits her. Her hear looks so soft and she looks pretty if I may use that word to describe her.
Just a bit too much gold stuck on the dress, tone that down and you would have an elegant style, very slimming.
