The Norwegian Royal Family attended the opening of the Storting

King Harald, Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon attended opening of the 2021-2022 session of the Storting

On October 11, 2021, King Harald V of Norway chaired the formal opening of the 166th session of the Norwegian Parliament (Storting) on the occasion of the start of the new working year of the Parliament. At the opening ceremony, Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon accompanied the King. Last year, King Harald could not attend the opening of the Norwegian Parliament because he was ill, and for this reason, Crown Prince Haakon had chaired the opening of the Storting.

Very impressive! The uniforms and the orders looks great on both the King and the Crown Prince. Queen Sonja sober as always. Nice to see them all back at work after covid!

  2. Mi piacciono molto i reali norvegesi, ma non sarebbe il caso di abdicare ? Il re mi sembra molto stanco e sofferente.

In scandinavia they don't abdicate. They take their role seriously and feel it's an honour to serve the people as long as the people want them. Margrethe and Harald have both said they will never abdicate. They will die on the job, just like QE in the UK. King Harald have joked about if his mind goes he want his kids to tell him that. Both King Haakon and King Olav died on the throne even if they we're not ruling the country at the time. Crown prince Olav was the regent, and so was Crown prince Harald when his father died. King Harald is in getting better after his knee operation every day, now he uses only one crutch against two earlier this year.

  3. Why come in military garb looking like a christmas tree at this civilian event?
What’s wrong with a suit or, if necessary, a morning dress?

Seriously you just couldn't help yourself could you? To inform you it's called tradition. You see it is quite normal for a ruling King or Queen to come in full outfit to these events. It's respectful and show that they take their role as the head of the state seriously. One question when QE wears a crown and ceremonial dress to the opening of the parliament do you complane about that too? Anne

Many of the traditions associate with the State Opening of the Norwegian parliament (Storting) date back to 1814 (the Norwegian constitution).

”Tradition”, as you call it, is a poor excuse for a bad habit.

If you do not like royals and their traditions ,why do you post these nonsensical comments on here?

Yes, we comment on clothes, but we do not criticize them when we see they are part of the traditions of a country.
You could google information when you are not sure about something .
Some of this Norwegian traditions date back to 1814.
Then it is not a matter of fashion, but of being respectful towards these traditions.
      This is the difference.
Pity you can' t understand that.
